Images Of Naples

Naples is like an amalgamation of various Italian cities - it has the attitude of Milan, the sights of Rome, the passion of Venice and the culinary delights of Florence. It is noisy and slightly intimidating, but it is equally intriguing and extremely engaging. Plus it boasts one of the most spectacular settings in Italy, overlooking the Bay of Naples. Many who stop here only do so for a number of hours before going further south to Capri or Sorrento, as Naples is the gateway to both destinations. But if you are travelling to Naples, spend a day or two here before shooting off. You won't regret it.

    Stay somewhere else

I didn't do my research about Naples and wish I would have taken the advice of those that said not to stay there. The entire city is filled with graffiti, even the cities statues and landmarks. It is a really busy city with not much to enjoy as far as ambiance. The streets are dirty and the drivers are crazy (especially the mopeds).

    A Different City

Still not sure what to make of Naples. My first impression was that it wasn't the nicest of cities and didn't seem that safe, but at the same time, it was fine to walk around the backstreets at night and I felt quite safe wherever I went. It is definitely a crazy city though. The little streets in the centre are packed with a mix of tourists and traffic coming from all angles and is therefore very hectic (great for city lovers, but might take some getting used to for rural dwellers).

Insider Tip:A lot of the original artwork found in Pompeii is kept in the Archaeoligical Museum in Naples, not Pompeii.

    Naples for Students

Awesome historic city located at the gulf of Naples that offers some of the best foods of the world (Pizza and spaghetti originate from here). Especially the street food is really good and affordable compared to the price level of other italian cities. There are several castles that offer nice views on the city and the gulf itself and several places close to Naples are also worth a day trip from there. The famous ruins of Pompeji are just one hour away....

Insider Tip:Pizza Mateo offers an awesome typical Napolean style pizza that is better than any other pizza you ate before!

    Good spot for daily trips

If you're planning to visit not only Naples but also surroundings (islands, Vesuvius, who Neapolitan bay) you should definitely stay here. Naples is well connected with trains, buses and boats to every place you need to visit :) City itself is interesting, but might be bit overwhelming at first. I find it fascinating and even though I've been there 9 days I feel like this city has much more to offer. Typical sightseeing places are nice, but sometimes they could use some good renovation.
