Images Of Naples

Naples is like an amalgamation of various Italian cities - it has the attitude of Milan, the sights of Rome, the passion of Venice and the culinary delights of Florence. It is noisy and slightly intimidating, but it is equally intriguing and extremely engaging. Plus it boasts one of the most spectacular settings in Italy, overlooking the Bay of Naples. Many who stop here only do so for a number of hours before going further south to Capri or Sorrento, as Naples is the gateway to both destinations. But if you are travelling to Naples, spend a day or two here before shooting off. You won't regret it.

Close to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius, but thats not all. Cool water front to watch the world go by, good shopping, lots of culture and very mixed at that. And obviously the pizza!

Naples: The New Orleans of Italy

Music everywhere, drinking outside, amazing people, and the best food. Naples is truly the New Orleans of Italy.

Insider Tip:Follow the Tribunari street that Da Mateo's is on (excuse the spelling) away from the Duomo, to see the incredible crowd of outdoor revelers in the public square,

    Naples and surroundings

Naples will always be Naples but it's improved for the last 10 years. The last time I went it was extremely dirty. There was something strange in the atmosphere, people watched you and asked you where you were going to...I never felt in danger or anything like that but tense. Today things have changed a lot positively. The city centre is worth a visit. 1 day in Naples is enough. What is more interesting if you are into history and nature is Ercolano, Pompeii Scavi and Vesuvius Volcano.

    Actually feels like Italy

Naples is a great place to actually feel like you're in a foreign country where people actually live. It's "off the beaten track" of the Rome, Florence, Venice route, so there are less tourists and people don't speak English everywhere you go. There isn't as much to see as Rome or Florence in terms of monuments, but if you enjoy traveling to experience other cultures, and not just to see monuments, than I think Naples is a great option.
