Perth Pocket Guide

Images Of Perth

Western Australia's key city is famous for many reasons. It's the state's capital, it's the gateway to Australia's breathtaking west coast, and it's the most remote city in the world. This doesn't mean there's nothing to do though. Perth has one of Australia's most instantly recognisable skylines, a climate other cities can only dream of, a host of beautiful beaches and enough bars, restaurants and cafés to keep all walks of life occupied for the duration of their stay.

Perth is a nice city if you're staying just for a few days. Is better as a central point to take tours to south or north of WA.

    Perth City

Nice city to walk around. Not cheap. Is the most expensive location we've visited in Australia. Lots of parks to sit and read in or just stroll through. Tours are a bit steep, and you can probably do most stuff on your own. Wouldn't recommend staying too long if on a budget.

Insider Tip:Tuesdays at the Picadilly theater is $7 movie nights. Really neat theater and much more afordable than a $15 ticket (which is the average we seem to be finding).

Great to stay for a few days. Lovely parks and from here you can organise great day tours to Wave Rock or the Pinnacles. Easy to get arround by the free buses around the city.

Perth A great place to visit

Perth is well laid out and easy to get around with an exceptional integrated transport service. Freemantle is worth spending at least a day. Northbridge is the cafe area and great place to eat out, and very cheaply too. Kings park overlooks the city and takes a day to walk around. Try walking to the Old Swan brewery and accessing the park up the Kakoda trail then when you've walked the park go down Jacob's Ladder back to the city. Theres lots more to do depending time like a visit to Rottnest Island, tour up the Swan Valley and a trip to the Pinnacles is a must.

Insider Tip:Use the free buses to get you around the city area. The red, yellow, and blue "cats" run about every 10 mins from 7-7.

Nice place to sit and relax. Take your mind off things. The shopping is pretty centralized and the public transportation system can get you where you need to go.
