Perth Pocket Guide

Images Of Perth

Western Australia's key city is famous for many reasons. It's the state's capital, it's the gateway to Australia's breathtaking west coast, and it's the most remote city in the world. This doesn't mean there's nothing to do though. Perth has one of Australia's most instantly recognisable skylines, a climate other cities can only dream of, a host of beautiful beaches and enough bars, restaurants and cafés to keep all walks of life occupied for the duration of their stay.

    Perth is quite boring

Perth is a boring city to go to is you are on vacation. Get some people, rent or share a car and go up north, you are more likely to have a good time than staying in perth. That city is also super expensive so beware :)

Insider Tip:Go up north in car to Shark bay, pinnacles, Kallary

    Good but quiet

Perth was our first destination of a year working visa in Oz. The town offers what you would expect a city to offer, although it is a little on the small and quiet side for my liking. Night life is alright, some cheap places to eat out if you look. Free inner city transport a big plus, plus linked well to the other suburbs around Perth. Bit more expensive than other cities on the East coast, although the average wage tends to be a bit higher.

Insider Tip:Good place to find work as not only is the average wage above average, but there is a lot of labour work currently and a lot of other backpackers are on the East coast.

    Relaxed place with beautiful surroundings

Perth is very good for shopping and a very relaxed city! Plus surrounded by so many beautiful landscapes - sanddunes, pinnacles, shell beach.. etc..

Nice city, not much to do in the city itself though. Wouldn't recommend more than a few days here, go out and see the rest of Western Australia.

Insider Tip:Take the train into Fremantle for a day. On the weekends there are markets.

Perth was beautiful to me this time.. went for a spectacular run up Scarborough beach watching the surfers do their thing.

Insider Tip:Plan to watch the sun set over the ocean.. just magic!
