    Drunk Frats and Old Ladies

I dont know why the stags come in swarms to Riga to go to lame, girl-less, overpriced bars. But they do in droves. And during the day, try and wedge between the gaggles of old men and women off for their tea or "authentic"Latvian food that seems a lot like every other food I had in Eastern Europe.

Insider Tip:Go to the parks. They are beautiful on their own. Take a book, but really amuse yourself by watching girls hobble down cobblestone streets in ankle-breaking heels.

Surprising stay in Riga. I heard about this town a few months ago, and it is now one of my favorite destination. The atmosphere during the WE is just amazing, great if you like to party (be just a little bit careful to avoid problems). We stayed 3 days there, too short to see everything, taste all the local food and beers. Two countries in one (Russia and Latvia) which makes the destination even more interresting.

Insider Tip:Go to the russian area next to the bus station, and visit the markets. Very good bargain there, even if a bit of russian language may help. (Not very safe during the night). On sunday, many people goes to the "vasingtona laucuns" area to have a beer, and watch the alternative art exhibitions.

    The historic city

A great city to explore the medieval history. Winter fair working with glintwine, music and souvenirs. Holiday atmosphere! Very comfortable for the Russian. Many cafes, bars and clubs.

    Amazing.

Actually before this trip, I've never heard about Riga and I didn't even know where Latvia is. But it was quite big town including small old region. Both old town and outside are great.

Insider Tip:If you are interested in modren buildings or museums, stay here more than 3 days.

Great place, a very small city though. Could walk the city center within a day. Should visit the Market Hall, a lot of good produce as well as fruits and vegetables on sale. Visit the museums and such to understand the history behind Riga.

Insider Tip:Visit the Museum of Medicine. Very informative and provided good insight into the medical background of Riga. Additionally, for cheap lunch or dinner, head to Lido. It is a buffet style place where you can pick your food. Also, the prices are pretty reasonable and they have a pretty good range.
