Great for partying/messy weekend away, not so much for sightseeing

Don't get me wrong I loved Riga. Nightlife is one of the best I've experienced. Enough to do during the day for 2/3 days (especially when you're sleeping through half of it from being out until 6am) but if you're going for a couples weekend then I can't really recommend it as you may get a bit bored after a while.

Insider Tip:If you're there for drinking then stay at the Naughty Squirrel Backpackers hostel. If you can't then go to the Aussie bar round the corner to meet some like-minded travellers and make sure you go to the Rock Cafe between midnight and 6AM!

    The next Party City

With cheap flights and accommodation, this is the next European Party City. As Prague continues to fill, watch out for this location becoming the next mega city. With plenty to do through the day, the city then also comes alive at night, with plenty of bars and clubs to usher in the next day!

    Don't Overlook this gem

This city is definitely not on many bucket lists, but you should add it now. They are all polite. They all speak English. There are fascinating museums and great architecture to explore. The food is delicious.

There is a lot to like about Riga. I found it to be a clean city. The old town is worth spending a day walking around. I was lucky the sun was shining and it added to my experience. Everything in Riga is easily accessible by foot. I would highly recommend visiting the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia. You get a sense of the recent history. There are plenty of places to eat, some of which are good value. Also plenty of coffee houses for the coffee lover.

Insider Tip:Take your self out of the old town and wander admiring the art nouveau designs on the buildings.
