Stockholm Pocket Guide

Images Of Stockholm

Built on 14 distinguishable islands, Stockholm is one of the few capitals in the world that affords visitors the opportunity to go island-hopping on a short break. Each of the Swedish capital's islands has its own attribute. Gamla Stan is one of the most charming old towns in Europe, Djurgården is at the forefront of the game in terms of museums, while Södermalm is where the Swedish capital's notoriously stylish offspring party into the early hours every weekend.

I've always liked Stockholm, especially the Old Town, so I'd definitely recommend visiting the capital of Sweden.

    Great City!

Spending a Weekend in Stockholm is great! Being that there are not many tourist attractions, a weekend is all you need to see the Old City and get a general feel of Stockholm. We had a great time, and felt really safe, even when it was late, and really dark out.

Insider Tip:Get a map as soon as you arrive, I spent a lot of time lost! But I still enjoyed it, and everything I saw!

    Gorgeous city! Great people!!

So far, one of the best cities I visited in Europe. Safe city, friendly people, everybody speak english fluently (really, EVERYBODY!!). You can rent a bike and ride all over the city (there are bike lanes for that) or walk. Both are pleasant. The museums are wonderful (Vasa Museum is one of the best I've ever been. Fotografiska too). As I told to people I visited there: "Stockholm is a cold place with warm people". I would live there. I hope I'll visit again.

Insider Tip:Vasa museum. City bike system. Fotografiska museum.

    Worth the Visit

It's expensive, and you will need to deal with the cold a bit outside of the summer months. However, the city is truly impressive. From he subways to museums to nightlife, there's just a lot to do.

    Little big town

Stockholm shouldn´t be compared to skyscraper cities. It is the capital city but still smaller dimensioned. The different island districts all have different characters but everywhere you´ll see nice old architecture. It´s easy to travel all over Stockholm by subway or bus and actually quite cheap, as a 24-hour ticket costs about ~12€, 72 hours around 25€ available offering trains, subways and busses.

Insider Tip:If you visit Stockholm you should definately visit Gamla Stan, the historical part of Stockholm. Lots of beautiful coloured houses and architecture. If you want to go for a drink try Ayfur, a viking club in Väsdterlånggatan, opens at 17 o´clock. Also consider visiting Skansen, a historical open air museum and animal park. really nice!
