Stockholm Pocket Guide

Images Of Stockholm

Built on 14 distinguishable islands, Stockholm is one of the few capitals in the world that affords visitors the opportunity to go island-hopping on a short break. Each of the Swedish capital's islands has its own attribute. Gamla Stan is one of the most charming old towns in Europe, Djurgården is at the forefront of the game in terms of museums, while Södermalm is where the Swedish capital's notoriously stylish offspring party into the early hours every weekend.

    Amazing!

Stockholm was nothing short of amazing!! It has to be one of my favorite places in Europe. It is right on the water and everything is so clean and pretty. If you go anywhere in Europe, go to Stockholm.

Insider Tip:Be warned that Sweden is an expensive place. Everything from accommodation to food is expensive. However, I felt it was worth it.

    Superb

I loved Stockholm and I love swedish girls! : ). They are the most beautiful girls I ever seen in my life. And you can see them everywhere. Sweden is a very organized place. It impressed me a lot the fact that EVERYBODY in that country speaks English. I've never seen that anywhere else. People are very kind and helpful.

Insider Tip:Arriving in Stockholm by ferry is really nice. You can also go to Tallin or Helsink from Stockholm... I recommend walking around to know the best spots of the city, like Gamalastan and the royal palace. You can also take the free walking tour. There is also lots of interesting museums to go. At night I recommend going to the Traedgarten club!

    Awesome city!

Everything is very expensive but as exchange students we had food in our backpacks so we didn't spent a lot of money on foods. The people were very helpful everytime we were lost and asked anyone for directions or something... I had a great time there!

    Brilliant City!

I've visited Stockholm with three friends, and we liked a lot the atmosphere of this city. I would say that between the cities I've visited in Scandinavia (Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo) this is the one I've liked most. The city is somewhat big to walk by foot, so definitely bring all your energies, you'll need it. And visit the great looking caravel boat called Vasa! It's really worthy!

Insider Tip:Visit the Vasa boat museum! That big caravel is pleasant to the eyes, looks great! I recommend also taking the Free Walking Tours, there are at least two: one in the morning (10 a.m.) and another in the evening (19 p.m.) so ask the hostel staff about them.

    Stockholm is Beautiful but Expensive

This was my first visit to Stockholm and from the first hour I quickly realized how expensive my trip was going to be. Be prepared to pay more in this city. It is beautiful and the people are very kind so it's definitely worth the trip. Plan meals and trips to/from airports carefully to save the most money.

Insider Tip:I always recommend purchasing a Lonely Planet book series for any region/country/city because they offer simply the best guidebook in the world. All kinds of information can be found in their book series about Stockholm. If you fly into the airport, purchase a BUS ticket, it's less than half the cost of the train (bus $15 & train $40) and only takes a few more minutes. The central bus terminal is directly above the central train terminal so there is no difference whatsoever.
