    Vancouver

Beautiful city, set within easy reach of sea, mountains and woods. Plenty of going on in the centre. While I was there, there was a film festival, a fringe festival, a First Nations pow-wow and a block party. Hastings Street and Granville Island are both interesting places, with bizarre little shops and whatnot, while other districts provide high-end shopping. Plenty of activities to get your teeth into, with Grouse Mountain providing hiking opportunities, Stanley Park, paddleboarding, kayaking, bike hire,

Insider Tip:For a different kind of Saturday Night, check out the observatory in Vanier Park. Students and volunteers open the telescope to the public from 8pm. It's entry by donation - so I got to see Jupiter's moons for $2.

City, sea and mountains - all in 1.

When we arrived in Vancouver, we were in Chinatown. It was a chaos over there. We were used to the mountains - so the space and the sereneness. Once we to the seawall, it was really nice. You have lot's of places to go to when you don't want to shop. We rented a bike for the day and went to Stanley Park, all the way to Spanish Banks. We really would recommend that! You have an amazing view on Spanish Banks (namely the view of the sea and downtown Vancouver). Supernice!! We also liked Gastown because of its

    Vancouver is awesome

This is a great city. As with any city it has it's drawbacks but it is a fantastic place to visit for a week, weekend or a day or two.

Insider Tip:Don't pay attention to any of the homeless people/bums. Vancouver is full of them. If you go to the downtown eastside, East Hastings st, be careful. Lots of junkies. Most of downtown is pretty safe and you should be fine if exercising usual caution. If you are traveling here in the summer months the weather is usually good. If you are outside the summer months, bring a rain coat and umbrella.
