Images Of Vienna

Vienna is a city full of surprises. For every breathtaking building you expect to see, there are another two beside it that you don't. Due to its passionate relationship with classical music grand theatres and ornate opera houses adorn the city centre, but it is also a city bursting with bars and clubs that would feel at home in the hippest of cities. And while it was the seat of the Habsburg Dynasty for so many years, you can live like a king here without upsetting your bank balance.

Opera with cheap expense in Vienna

Me and my friend saw our first opera in Vienna with only 4 euros. It was of course standing seat and had to bear whole two hours just by standing still, and it was really interesting experience. With the 'poor' tourists like us, the 'rich, well dressed' people also saw the same opera (of course, they were seating). So I personally felt weird to see this contrast.

Insider Tip:It would have been much better if I could have researched about the opera in advance since I didn't grasp the overall story. What the singers sang was wonderful and marvelous but it could have been better if I could followed the story.

    Vienna is a museum

I joined a free tour and the tour guide brought us to almost all the sights in the central vienna. You will be amazed by all the scruptures in the building and the memorial sites. The Rathaus, parliament, library, museum and I highly recommend the schrubonn palace and also the garden Beverde if I remember the spelling corrrectly. Nachemarkt is quite nice but there are many Turkish shops selling all kinds of sweets, nuts and kebab. Definitely needa try Wien dish like Gulash! and cafe as well!

Insider Tip:The most exciting I've done in Vienna is watching an Opera " Das Rhinegold" in the Vienna State Opera for €4 ONLY ! I am not a very big fan of opera. I did listen to it few years ago and I think it's a must do in Vienna. It is actually a standing ticket, they only sell the tickets tow hours before the show, the earlier you wait the better position you get. They have the 4 and 3.5 euro one. 4 euro is the parterre which you can stand in a ground floor of the house and directly facing the stage.

    A lot to do

I liked Vienna, but maybe not as much as some of the other cities I've visited. But there was no shortage of things to do in this town. There seemed to be an endless supply of museums and sites to visit.

Insider Tip:I would only suggest getting the Vienna Card if you can actually use it for the full 72 hours. Otherwise I don't think it is worth it. But you can get an all day transit card without the Vienna Card and that would be really helpful. We used a lot of public transit while we were there. Also book tickets for Shronbrunn Palace in advance otherwise you will wait a couple hours to get in.

Vienna the city that you never forget

Vienna is an idyllic city. In warm months the park are the places to go they are stunning perfect for a stroll outside of the hustle of the tourist trail. You do end up gazing in awe at the architecture quite a lot, for me this is always at the Hofburg and KarlsKirche and of course Schonebrunn, if your at Schonebrunn take some time to go outside and see the beautiful gardens and zoo, and walk up to the Gloriette the view across Vienna is just breathtaking.

    Wunderbar Wien

Amazing city! Loved every detail of it. Everything works, people are helpful and willing to give the information you need, public transportation works and there are lots of things to see and do - including many free attractions. Historical buildings and gardens are very well conserved, loved it!

Insider Tip:There is no need to take a guided tour in Vienna! Use the public bike system they have and go around on your own. Definitely the best way to see the city :)
