A Wild Elephants Hostel

Bratislava, Slovakia

A small nice hostel located in a charming old building right in the city center, clean and well-decorated—loved the kitchen and the gender-neutral toilets. Wi-Fi could be a bit better, but whatever ;) Great value for money!

Tallinn, Estonia

Top location, very friendly and helpful staff, good value for your money, average cleanliness. What I most loved is the amazing old-style apartment—high ceilings, vintage furniture, original decoration, parquet all around. The bad note is for the wifi, which is not available if you are staying in the rooms on the other side of the hostel. I've read it should be to avoid noise in the sleeping rooms but hey folks, not everybody behaves like a dumb teenager, c'mon ;)

Kinlay House Dublin

Dublin, Ireland

Excellent location, very nice staff. Very reasonable price, too. BUT. Cold water all the time, even in the showers — it's supposed to be a hostel, not a labor camp; Terrible plastic cover under the pillowcase — sweating like a pig the whole time; Stinky fetid carpet in the room — ever heard of ventilation and/or carpet cleaning? Europe to UK plug adaptors for rent, 4€ — buying one is almost cheaper. Never again.

Seagulls Garret Hostel

Riga, Latvia

This is a great place to stay. Top location, extremely welcoming and friendly staff, excellent security, and cleanliness all around. Free Wi-Fi, safe luggage storage and - hey! - a cosy terrace perfect for beer and relax. Absolutely recommended.

The hostel is pretty safe, brand new, clean and the staff is super kind. The location is also very good - between 2 metro stops and right in front of the Naschmarkt, the biggest viennese market. MQ, Neubau and Mitte are also at a stone's throw. I didn't mind 'cause we just needed a place to sleep and have a shower, but anyway, I'd recommend it most to people in their 20s because of the kinda school-trip-atmosphere ;) What I didn't like AT ALL was the complete lack of smoker's corners.

Skopje, Macedonia

This nice, little hostel is definitiely to recommend. Located near the train/bus station, free Wi-Fi, breakfast, interesting people to chat with, hot water and reception 24/7, and super cozy shared spaces. The staff is absolutely S U P E R.

Vilnius Old Town Hostel

Vilnius, Lithuania

A cheap accommodation doesn't mean poky and filthy toilettes, cold water because the boiler is out of order, Wi-Fi not available but near the reception, old and shag bedding with sheets too small to cover the whole mattress - yes. They looked like they would fit just a kid's bed. Anyway, receptionists are very kind and helpful and the location is good, between train station and The Gates of Dawn. You decide. I won't come back.

High 5 Hostel

Gdansk, Poland

bring a pair of plastic sandals or flip-flops with you in order to go to the toilet: in this hostel you HAVE to take off your shoes and leave'em on the landing, so standing barefoot in the toilet is't very... hmmmm....
