Hostel Mancini

This hostel is really safe and has a very welcoming reception/lounge area. The common room kitchen is really useful for those wishing to cut down on restaurant outings. The hostel is also close to the train station, so you don;t have to take more transit once you arrive on the train. The area around the hostel did not feel safe and was really dirty; however, most of Naples is like this so I'm not sure if any hostels are in much better areas.

Rome is pretty expensive for accommodation, but this hostel was still way too overpriced for what it provided me. There was no air conditioning and the location wasn't the nicest area (although close to the main train station). The worst part was that after cleaning, there was an old bar of soap in my bathroom with hair on it. Gross. On the bright side, I felt safe staying there and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Archi Rossi Hostel

This is one of the best hostels I ever stayed in because: -it was very clean (including shared bathrooms!) -close to the train station and major tourist attractions -the staff was fairly helpful and friendly -the free breakfast was plentiful with lots of options -it included a beautiful courtyard to eat or relax in -reliable wifi -air con included -it was a quiet hostel The only things I didn't like was that the front door was left open (though the 24hour receptionist was there).

Not luxury but an excellent choice for a budget traveller.
