This is my favorite hostel in London but it is so damned expensive as are the other HI hostels in this great city. What gives with the pricing? Having said that London Central has introduced some benefits for HI members which are much appreciated. So I guess I will be back. The alternatives are overstuffed independent hostels.
Have stayed here many times. The facility is well maintained. Compared to many other hostels the rooms are spacious with good sized lockers. The self-catering kitchen needs some repairs.
As a member of HI I have never stayed anywhere else in Dublin because I have been so very fond of this hostel for several years. It came as a great disappointment when it appeared that independent travellers were not permitted to book the night of September 12th due to the fact that tour operators were allowed to block and hoard all the rooms. It is a slap in the face to Independent travelers and loyal members.
I come to Killarney each year and have stayed only at this location. Great place!
All hostels should be constructed like this one.
Great Self-catering facilities.
Enjoyed my stay here. The facilities were adequate.A lamp over the bed had a missing bulb - dangerous if somebody poked a finger into it accidentally while sleeping. Also dangerous that no staff is present during the night hours. What if there was an emergency - fire, accident etc?. Lovely staff. Building is historical and has a charm to it.
I have stayed here many times. Rooms are more spacious than one usually finds in a hostel.
In many respects this is a fine hostel - nice facilities, nice public rooms, nice continental breakfast, great staff, wonderful location, very clean place. One major drawback and it is a major one: dorm rooms are too small. 104 Square feet (9.69 Square meters for six people is inhuman. Though the weather outside was cool, inside it was unbearable with all the body heat and breathing.
The owners appear to be opportunists who provide the absolute minimum in regard to facilities. The two plate hotplate in the kitchen did not function properly so that I could not cook my food. The pillows were shambles. To have to pay extra for sheets was a new gimmick I had not encountered before. Great staff though although they must be secretly and quietly embarased by the place.
It was difficult to find even though I was standing right in front of the place. But once inside it was a great place. It will be nicer when the subway a block away is finished and the foot pathways are reopened.
It was a bit far to the tram lines especially when hauling luggage or a backpack. Also it was unnerving to discover that no personell was on duty during the night. What if there was a fire or smoke? The showers were quite nice - unusually so for a hostel. Wonderful staff and nice bar on the ground floor. Great neighborhood with reasonably priced restaurants.
What a great hostel with very nice public rooms: bar and dining room. The best showers and changing areas I have run across.

The WI-Fi in the rooms on the first floor was very poor. The only place to connect was in the bar which was uncomfortable and noisy as one expects a bar to be.
It is always so nice to spend a few nights here. The place is kept so very clean. I don't stay anywhere else when visiting London. One downside: the Internet terminals are way too expensive.
I enjoy my stay here each year. It is quite reasonably priced and this year the fresh baked Irish Soda Bread and Scones were a nice treat at the included breakfast. Staff members were very nice and helpful. It is a quick walk to O'Connell Street and has convenient bus service almost at the front door. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!
It is a charming and very well located hostel with reasonable prices. The beds are built in a fashion that luggage/backpack storage and security is very difficult. Still, I stay there annually because I like it here.
I have stayed here several times although it is too pricey on Fridays and Saturdays as is the wireless. If so many places like the British Museum and McDonalds, etc can provide free WIFI why not HI?
I have stayed here several times and it is always enjoyable. The proximity of the train and bus stations is great.
The hostel is well run and reasonably priced. I had a devil of a time trying to figure out how the shower faucet functioned. It might be helpful to post an illustration on the wall. A lovely garden is attached. So glad I came here.
This is a good hostel and I have stayed here each year for the past ten years. While it is an older building which is typically expensive and difficult to maintain my hat goes off to the management team who do a great job despite the rough use and abuse by some hostellers.
This is a great hostel. Unfortunately the free WI-FI has been withdrawn in favor of a very expensive pay as you go (one pound for twenty minutes) whether one uses his own laptop or the hostel's computers. Weekend rates are too high. Other than these big disappointments it is a great place to stay.
A great hostel in every respect since the building was constructed for this purpose. The electrical plug and shelf located at each bed is a nice touch. Like all the London hostels this one is a bit pricey and without breakfast. I also resented the steep increase for Friday and Saturday night stays which is becoming commonplace.
When ever I go to Dublin I stay here.
I would not stay anywhere else in Dublin!
What a nice surprise as the hostel is not very old and was constructed to be a hostel. The prices were very reasonable, rooms and toilets were very clean.
The windows were filthy but this appears to be the result of design flaws which makes maintenance of the windows difficult. It was a great hostel since the building was constructed for this purpose. A very friendly and helpful staff even though I arrived early before the rooms were made up. Rooms were quite adequate with spacious common rooms for TV, eating, etc.
Wonderful self-catering facilities and spacious public rooms. Very clean showers and WCs. So quiet in this beautiful part of Caledonia
What a great place and for such a reasonable price.
This hostel is terribly overpriced given the condition of the facility which is very unkempt. Carpets were filthy. Other hostels in Edinburgh are much cheaper and far better. The staff could not have been nicer.
Great Hostel as are the other Wombat locations
Always a great place to stay.
The hostel could use some electrical wall recepticles and a couple of tables for laptop users. Great place. Hope the Wombat people add hostels in other cities.
Have gone to Ireland each year for the past several years and always stay here for the Dublin portion. Great staff. Good breakfast. Needs free wireless though as that is the new era.
What a charming hostel! Spacious and clean. Helpful staff. A bit of a bus ride but still walkable from the city center if you miss the last bus of the evening. Good bargain for the price. It helps when the roommates are considerate as was my good fortune. Made a couple of friends among them which is the great part about hostelling.
Very helpful staff. Well maintained facility. Free wireless is a big plus. Super location across from the train and bus stations but still very quiet due to the setback of the hostel from the road.
Considering the age of the building the facility is well maintained. Sadly, some hostellers make a mess for somebody else to clean up. A good bargain for the price. Super staff at the desk and in the kitchen!
Built the way a hostel should be built. Sufficient space and good amenities like lockers, showers, hooks, mirrors, etc.
Great place to stay in London. Location is super but the neighborhood is very quiet after 5 pm. Tube stops and several bus routes are so close that one can get about the city with ease.
Place was kept clean, however, it is old and worn looking. Room was moldy. Showers left much to be desired. The hostel needs a renovation.
Enjoyed the stay. Super location, good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, Very clean accomodations.
The ventilation in the rooms is very problematic and unhealthy. The air is stale and sour at any moment. Perhaps the staff could open the windows each day for several minutes. Also I resented the price increases for Friday and Saturday nights during my seven day stay. Otherwise, my visits to St. Pancras have been quite pleasant.
The ongoing renovations to the facliity are appreciated. Perhaps, a new locker system will be next in the program. Also something must be done about the snoring. Snorers should be required to sleep together or to depart the room - even in the middel of the night!
The staff was great.
Have enjoyed my stays at St. Paul's. Great continental breakfast. Snoring remains a problem as there was more than one sleepless night for me and others in the room. Deliicate as the matter is the situation must be addressed. Snorers should not be permitted to impose themeselves on others.
This was a great place to stay, especially in a city like Munich where hotel rooms are expensive. Nice clean facilities. Some street noise at night but that's unavoidable in any center city location. Facility has been renovated recently and dorm rooms were spacious. Bring ear plugs. Well located.
The showers need some kind of racks and hooks to place and hang things.
