Security was excellent: they change the door code every few days, &you have locks to your room. Big lockers. Very Clean! Great lounge area &garden. The staff could not be more helpful and pleasant. They have great suggestions on what to do, and restaurants/bars in the area. There were great things to do in the immediate area (sunday market, great restaurants/bars/cafes), and its close to the U2 metro, but its not the most happening area. However the metro runs late most nights, and all weekend.

The staff was really nice. Chris takes you out at night, it makes the whole experience much more enjoyable. The location is great, walking distance to the bus station and train station, and close to the main square and interesting spots to see. The common room can be a bit noisy (the TV is always on), but so what... its a great spot to meet fellow travelers. Overall, really great hostel.

It was a good stay. We stayed in a room with three beds, mine was very uncomfortable, but the other two were absolutely fine. Also, there are a lot of bars on the street, so keep in mind that you will have to keep your window closed or hear the street noise.

Heart Of Amsterdam

The hostel had a great location, though since it is so central, there can be late night noise (not an issue for me, I picked the hostel for its location). Some reviews mention the stairs: they are steep, but they are typical Netherlands stairs: get over it. The place was clean, the safes/room door security was great. My main issue was the atmosphere. NOT a good place to meet people (!!!), unless you luck out in your room. You can hang out at reception, but it isn't a social environment.

Clean host in good location, however the instructions to find the hostel from the airport were extremely poor and confusing. Getting off the bus at the port and not the end of the line would have been much simpler. Also, there was no possibility for us to print our boarding passes for our flight, which turned out to be a huge expense (with Ryanair). The staff were nice, and accommodated our late check in. Also a very nice rooftop terrace, though not open very late

Its a fine hotel. Its got a pretty good location. Its seems safe because the staff have to buzz you in. The problem with that, is that they are often not at the front desk, so you are left standing banging on the door for a while. In fact, we were let in by another hostel go-er once or twice. The bathroom in my room was nicely and newly renovated. No real complaints, a decent spot to sleep, but I wouldnt hang out there.

Its a great location. The rooms are fine..nothing special. Its not the cleanest place, but the sheet seemed clean, and its reasonably quiet at night. They have an amazing roof top terrace, which may or may not be busy depending on the night. Its got an amazing view of the acropolis at night. They also have free internet, a big plus.
