We stayed here for our last night in Iceland. It was pretty cheap and not too far from the main touristy areas (maybe a 10-15 min walk). There was free parking which was nice. It was a clean place but it was a bit noisy and the curtains weren't very good so it got very bright in our room quite early.
We stayed at Guesthouse Odinn for our first night in Iceland. It was a great place to stay. The room was nice with a great view and very clean. The host was very generous to stay a little bit late to wait for us to check in and he offered great suggestions for dinner and breakfast. The guesthouse also had kitchen facilities for people to cook for themselves. It was located just a couple of blocks from the main shopping/strolling street of Reykjavik.
We stayed for two nights in a 4 bed ensuite dorm and two nights in a private double room. Both rooms were quite functional. The location of the hostel was fantastic, one block away from Hyde Park and about a 10 min walk to the nearest underground station. The hostel wasn't too loud, it was clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would say the only downside was that in the 4 bed dorm room the internet didn't work very well and that the private double was very expensive.
We stayed here for 2 nights ahead of doing the Inca Trail. The rooms were quite nice although the floor boards were quite creaky. We didn't really hear the other rooms though. The staff was friendly and helpful, they let us have breakfast a little early one of the days. The location is in San Blas which is up the hill a bit from the main area of cusco. The walk wasn't too bad though and only about 10min or less to the main square. I would definitely stay here again.
We stayed for 3 nights while we were in Puno. The staff were great at welcoming us to Puno at the bus station, helping us book day trips and suggesting restaurants and things. The room was big and comfortable enough and very reasonable in cost. We had a bit of sickness while we were in Puno and the room was great for relaxing and watching TV and trying to recover. The morning breakfasts were pretty good as well. The location was quite close to the main square and a bunch of decent restaurants.
We had a great two night stay while we were in Arequipa. The room was pretty basic but it was spacious and comfortable. The location is great for exploring the city. Only a couple blocks from the main square, most of the sites and restaurants. We felt quite safe while walking around the area. The staff was very helpful in making suggestions and pointing us in the right direction to things. There is a nice rooftop patio which is great for reading or having a drink in the afternoon sun.
We had a pretty good 4 night stay at Edinburgh Backpackers. We stayed in a double private room in one of the sub buildings. The room and bathroom were pretty good. The bed was reasonably comfortable and the shower had hot water. The only complaint we had was that it got very loud at night with people walking down the alley to the train station. Our first night (a Friday) we had a bit of trouble sleeping even with ear plugs but it wasn't too bad the other 3 nights. The wifi worked very well.
Hotel Flor Blanca was a nice play to stay. One of the best things was that they had a good AC system in the room, that was important because it was super hot and humid there during our stay. The rooms are pretty nice with a little fridge and tv and little table. The hotel also has a pool for use. It is located close to lots of good restaurants. The only downside was that it wasn't as good about helping book things as other places we stayed but that isn't super important in Manuel Antonio.
We stayed for 3 nights at Sloth Backpackers in a double private room. It was a great stay. The hostel is well located in the little triangle of "downtown" Santa Elena. Yorle, the owner, was very nice in welcoming us and helping us book tours. She gave great advice about which tours to do. There was a delicious breakfast prepared each morning (eggs or pancakes with lots of fruit). A great place to stay while visiting Monteverde.
Arenal Hostel Resort was a great place to stay. While the rooms themselves are pretty basic (we had a private double), there is a big courtyard with pool, hammocks and a bar with food. We really enjoyed relaxing and using the hammocks. We also ate dinner and had drinks at the poolside bar there. Roberto was a great bartender and the food was really good too. Jesse was a good host and helped us book many tours and always made sure we were doing alright. I would recommend staying here in Arenal.
Hostel Casa Colon was in a great location, not too far from the airport and walking distance to downtown San Jose as well as the park. We had a superior double private room and it was very spacious and clean with a king size bed. The staff was nice enough and it comes with a breakfast in the morning of your choice of continental or traditional. A good place to stay while passing through San Jose.
The hostel was in an excellent location. Just off the old town square and very walk able to Charles Bridge and the castle district. Rooms were pretty nice and a decent size. Bathrooms were clean and quite functional. There wasn't much for breakfast, only cereal and coffee, no toast or juice.
The best part of this hostel was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff there. When we arrived, they set up a taxi tour for us. There were two of us and it's cheaper to do with at least 3 so they found us another person to go with. In the evening, they were making cheap drinks for a few pounds and it was fun hanging out there and meeting some of the other guests and the staff of the hostel. We stayed in a 4 bedroom dorm that was sparsely furnished but quite spacious. The only negative was
The staff at Portrush Holiday Hostel were very friendly and helpful in making sure we got the most out of our time in Portrush. They were very good about pointing out where everything was (bus along causeway coast, bike rentals, etc). Good kitchen facilities and nice living room area. We stayed in the 10 person dorm and it was more spacious than some of the other hostels that we stayed at. Would stay there again if I am in Portrush
We stayed at Barnacles for two nights in one of the 6 bedroom dorms in the basement. It was not a pleasant stay due to getting really bad sleeps. The walls were extremely thin and could here everything that was happening in the rooms around and above us. Also, the shower nozzle was broken and sprayed water all over the bathroom when someone showered. In addition, the internet didn't reach the basement so you couldn't use it from our room. I think that a room on a different floor would probably l
We stayed at Kinlay House Galway for 2 nights. The facilities were excellent (big usable kitchen, very comfortable lounge area, decent sized rooms). We also found the staff very helpful, my friend was trying to get ahold of his relative in Ireland and the front desk staff took messages for him when we were gone. Location is very close to train station and just a short walk from the main street. Would definitely stay there again.
We stayed in the 6 person dorm and had a good stay. Very good location just outside of the Temple Bar area which meant a short walk to the bars but far enough away to avoid the noise. Staff was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and things to do. No problems while staying at this hostel.
