Saga Youth Hostel

Beijing, China

A little difficult to find if it is your first time. Had some problems but they were all China problems, not hostel problems, and would be terribly unfair to blame the hostel for that. Stayed in a private room and it was clean, had AC, a working TV, wi-fi was good, overall can not complain at all. Bar at the hostel was nice and food was decent. This is a great place to stay in Beijing.

Wrigley Hostel

Incredible location, a block from the subway and Wrigley Field. Very kind and helpful staff. One of the more expensive hostels I have been to but it was my first hostel in the States so could be normal. Bathrooms sometimes take a while in the morning, only one shower in a bathroom. The door was locked around 10 or 11 pm every night, if the person working is away from the front desk you must wait outside, we waited about eight minutes one night to get back in. Overall great stay, recommend.

The hostel's location was great, the value was also very good. The security was excellent. The door was locked at all times and the lockers were available for everyone to use. The staff was going through some changes and I think a few of them had no idea what they were doing but the full time staff was wonderful. I didn't use the hostel for any tours but I know people signed up for tours with the hostel. Definitely a good place to stay if you're looking for local experience.

Great hostel in a great location. Easy to access, staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, great stay. Would definitely stay there again as opposed to the other hostel I stayed in Osaka before.

If you stay in room 2K, be warned that the clock there is the loudest clock in the history of mankind. You can hear it ticking all night but because the room is so dark, you do not know what time it is. All you have is confirmation that the seconds of your life are passing you by, and the ticking will start to sound like the clock is mocking you. A "ha ha ha" every few seconds. I doubt God himself could not make a louder clock. I shoved it in the locker, I was so angry. Besides clock, good.

This place was amazing, quiet, relaxing. You are not going to go here to party or meet people who party. You are going to go here to get away from that, if you are feeling tired...amazing owner, who offered me personally his bicycle to go to dinner...great baths, so soothing...amazing computers for free, free printing...an unbelievably detailed map of the local restaurants in English, you can take and show them with pictures the owner provided...this has been the best place I have stayed here.

Hotel Mikado

Osaka, Japan

You probably are not going to meet a lot of friends here, it is much more of a hotel than a hostel. But the bathroom on the first floor was amazing, had a bath, showers, sauna. Free internet and free bike rental. Very good for the price. Will probably stay there again, but it does not have the character of some other youth hostels.

Way Hostel

Madrid, Spain
100%

Staff were AMAZINGLY helpful. Extremely nice, caring, friendly, especially Martel! :) Location perfect. Clean. Only complaint would be that the beds were not as comfortable as possible, but for 13 euros a night or whatever it is, in downtown Madrid...who cares. Free breakfast, good coffee. Free internet. Organized free walking tour and had good offers at night. Offered a wake up "nudge" when I needed to be up in the morning. It is one of the best hostels I have been to in all of Europe.

Ecohostel Andromeda

Gent, Belgium

Staying on a boat on a canal in Belgium...so COOL! A bit far away from the city centre but you can use a tram to get around. Lots of spiders on the boat, if that bothers you. Really nice people there, great fellow travelers, free breakfast and coffee in the morning, free lockers, free wi-fi. Beer fridge in the basement, though a little pricey. Would highly recommend, Ghent is also a very relaxing and non-touristy area.

Brussels 2GO4 Quality Hostel

AMAZING staff. Not a bad location. Beer vending machine in the lobby, free internet. They close the main area from 1-4 PM, far from ideal but no biggie. A bit expensive but a good place to be.

Montenegro Hostel Podgorica

Podgorica, Montenegro

Just make sure you look at a picture of WHERE the hostel is, because it on the third floor of a residential house with NO sign, so I spent like over an hour walking around trying to ask people where it was, and no one spoke English. So find a picture of the house it is in, so you know where to look. Free internet, Pero is really nice and helpful. VERY VERY close to the train and bus station. Nothing to do in Podgorica, though, so don't go there expecting anything. Not the hostels fault!

Hippo Hostel

Budva, Montenegro

If you are going to Budva, you are going to party. Hippo Hostel is great for that. Free lockers, free breakfast, free internet, very close to the beach. Lots of drunk people, so if that is what you are looking for, here's ya place!

This is the best hostel you will stay in. MAKE SURE YOU DO BATA'S TOUR!! Best thing I have done in Europe. Free internet, excellent free breakfast every morning, amazing staff and hosts. Meant to stay two nights, ended up staying four. Hated to leave. If you go to Mostar, you HAVE TO STAY HERE or at Bata's Hostel!!!!

Ravnice Youth Hostel

EXCELLENT staff...extremely helpful and kind. Very clean hostel. Wonderful garden. Only tiny drawback is that it is a bit away from the city center, but that is a tram stop literally four minutes away so that is not too much of a problem. Highly recommend this hostel, one of the best I have ever stayed at.

Camping Rialto

Venice, Italy

This is a straight up camping site, at least where we were. So you know what you're getting. They give you the lock for free, which is nice. Really good showers, better than I figured they'd have. For only 9 Euros a night, it is a great steal. There is a bus directly in front of the site that goes to downtown Venice. If you're looking to see Venice on a budget, this is your place. NOTE: Buy or bring your own mosquito spray! The one there is very expensive. That's good business by them.

Art Roch Hostel

Edinburgh, Scotland
97%

This was one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. You had to pay 4 pounds for a lock for the locker, but besides that, everything else was brilliant. They didn't offer free breakfast and didn't sell any alcohol on premises, but there are a ton of bars right across the street, one with a 10% discount if you stay at the hostel. This is the hostel you want to stay at if you are in Edinburgh. Brilliant place!

Delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us! Also that you visited our new pub just across the road, hopefully you indulged in one of our fabulous cooked breakfasts!! Glad you took advantage of the discounts as a resident of this hostel, such good value. We thank you for taking the time to place your comments, and hope to see you again sometime. Have a great summer - from the team here at Art Roch.

This hostel was not good. If you get the big room, you are in a different building and when you walk out the door, there is often homeless men right there...the beds are awful, you can feel so many springs in them. No hot water in the men's shower. Some of the most unfriendly staff I've EVER met at a hostel. Don't know what the deal was with that. The location IS amazing, which is very good. Still, do not stay there unless you absolutely have to. The worst hostel I have stayed in, sadly.

Lisbon Chillout Hostel

Lisbon, Portugal
97%

If you're going to Lisboa, you're probably going to party...and the Chillout Hostel is the place to stay! The staff is amazing and knowledgeable and really helpful, putting on nightly BBQs for the guests. The men's bathroom is a little small and reception doesn't open until 8:30am, but there is free breakfast, a wonderful atmosphere, and great people. This is one of the best hostels I've stayed it!
