Good location, clean rooms and showers, excellent map with city info provided. The long list of rules and penalties that are left in the dorm room is a bit extreme as is the fact that one cannot recover their key deposit the night before if they are checking out early the following morning. An emergency bell has to be rang in the morning instead. It seems that the owner of the hostel has a trust issue that is not seen elsewhere, which affects the overall mood of the place.

I just lost too many keys which guests did forget to give back ... so it´s not a trust issue - just a question to save money and time to organize new keys. Thank you so much for your honest words and of course for your stay! Travel safe and take care!

Generator Hostel Hamburg

Hamburg, Germany

The best hostel I have stayed in. Great bar for meeting people. Very clean. Socket and reading light over each bed. Excellent security for belongings. Right beside hauptbahnhof and local transport. No noise interference if you want a quiet time. Very pleasant and professional staff. This place ticks every box. This is the benchmark that every hostel should aspire to.

I had the misfortune of staying in the dorm on the ground floor. The hostel's computers are located just outside he door and there can be quite some noise from people checking facebook at 3am. It's also very hard to rest in the afternoon because of the loud music coming from the bar which is located right next to the dorm. Positives: Good amount of sociable events organised. Excellent security in the rooms.

This was a wonderful place to stay. I felt most welcome here thanks to the host family who were always pleasant and helpful. The location was also excellent within short walking distance to Manger Square. Highly recomended!
