Hostal D' Mathias

Banos, Ecuador

A home from home. Best equipped kitchen we've seen in 5 months of travel, nice tv lounge area and upstairs games space. Rooms are great, hot showers and good wifi downstairs with computers available too. Only very minor complaint would be the hard pillows. Definitely recommend!

Casa de Avila

Arequipa, Peru

This was a splurge for us on a backpacker budget, but well worth it and good value. The facilities were great (nice breakfast, good WiFi, yoga and Spanish classes and cable tv in our room). This was a great place to chill out for a couple of days.

NO LOCKERS: they say there are lockers but they are large group lockers that only staff have the key for. Our dorm room did not lock, so we changed hostel because we did not feel our stuff was safe. Apart from that the hostel was great and staff were really friendly and helpful. Our bus arrived in very early and they let us check in early. WiFi great, showers hot, breakfast basic but nice and extras super cheap (1sole for a fried egg). Only other slight gripes is that the floorboards in our dorm were

Hostal Chawi

Coroico, Bolivia

Great hostel with wonderful hosts - booked 2 nights and stayed 6! Both private rooms & dorms are spacious, bright & well furnished - plus they have the most incredible views over the valley. Hot showers, great home cooked breakfasts & dinners & a big roof terrace for sunny afternoons. Coroico is the perfect little place to relax & there's wifi cafés in town if needed. Big thanks to the owners, who couldn't be kinder or more helpful. We have some wonderful memories!

The Adventure Brew Hostel

La Paz, Bolivia

Good stuff: Quite social with nice bars and free beer each night. Liked the pancake & coffee breakfast. Rooms spacious & nice (but ours faced a wall & was always a bit dark - I'd ask for street side). Staff nice & very secure. Bad stuff: It was absolutely freezing! There are 2 heaters to hire but every room needs one & it shouldn't be extra. Showers bit unreliable. Food was a bit average & a bit on the cold side. Located near bus station but nothing much around it & bit of a walk to town.

Dear, we appreciate your review. We are sorry about the cold, La Paz is a cold city in winter and there is no gas for heating systems, its a pity you didnt ask for a hot bottle we offer to our customers, thats the best third world country solution in cheap hostels like ours. We hope you can come back !

Hostel in Salta

Salta, Argentina

Plus points- We stayed in a private ensuite which was spacious and bright. Hot showers and decent wifi. Staff are lovely, kitchen is good

Not a good place - it's freezing, very old & just generally pretty miserable - but it's probably the best hostel in town. On the plus side: showers are hot, wifi works (when the router is on) & breakfast was cereal & breads, which was ok. My advice would be to skip the hostels & find a private room in town somewhere, it'll be cheaper and at least you get your own space in this pretty crappy town.

Loro Loco Hostel

Santa Cruz, Bolivia

Lovely hostel with nice room & garden, hot showers, decent wifi & good breakfast options (although kitchen way too small for everyone). When we were there there was a huge group who were very inclusive and slightly intimidating so hard to meet people & enjoy facilities. That said, am sure it's a great hostel when there are better guests.

Hostel Sao Jorge

Bonito, Brazil

This hostel is great and I recommend you stay here. The staff were fantastic, spoke English fluently and did everything they could to make our stay great. They helped us book our activities and even helped us plan our onward travel and accommodation. There are a few things that would help to improve the hostel, but they are aware of this and working hard to make the changes. For example, they were building lockers whilst we were there. Being able to pay by credit card was useful.

Hostel e Pousada El Shaddai

Foz do Iguacu, Brazil

This hostel was great and the staff were amazing! It has a great set up with good cooking facilities and great swimming pool. Staff spoke several languages, including English and did everything they could to help us and make us feel welcome. There is a nice friendly, relaxed vibe set by the staff. The only minor thing that could be improved is the directions on hostelworld. Whilst it is easy walking distance from the urban bus terminal, guests need to know more than how many blocks it is.

Marcopolo Inn Iguazu

Puerto Iguazu, Argentina

This had potential to be an amazing hostel, however: 1. On arrival we had to sign a set of rules, which are not so welcoming and include: - Not allowed your own alcohol (the hostel sells it, but it is not so cheap) - If you check out a minute after 10am you will lose your deposit 2. They packed up breakfast 15 minutes earlier than advertised. 3. The staff were hit and miss. One very friendly and helpful, but the other two not so. On a brighter note, the location is excellent & rooms good.

Hostel Empedrado

Mendoza, Argentina

This hostel was good. Staff friendly and breakfast was amazing. We would recommend this hostel, however the location was not as central as we had hoped. It is 3 blocks to the main Street, but further to the city centre. The directions on hostelworld could be improved also.

Many thanks for your comments. We will check our description at hworld but you have everything in walking distance: supermarket 2 blocks, ATM 2 blocks, restaurants 4 blocks and the main street 4 blocks.

La Casona de Odile

El Bolson, Argentina

It is a little out of town but this matters not as the hostel itself is close to perfect. The staff are wonderful (even offered to come translate at the dentist!), the place is beautiful and the garden is simply stunning. We booked extra nights within minutes of arriving and only really left to buy essentials from town. Dorms are lovely, great vibe in the social areas (which are the best I´ve seen) and there is even free yoga when the weather allows. Only downfall? It´s very hard to leave!

Aylen-Aike Hostel

El Chalten, Argentina

Couldn't recommend this place enough! It is friendly, fun & beautifully located. Sebastian is a wonderful bilingual host with excellent knowledge & is always ensuring the place is spotless with music dvds playing in the evenings. Common areas are well laid out to create a homely and social hostel & the 4 dorm rooms are well decorated and comfortable. Shared bathrooms are good with brilliant showers (essential post hike!) and wifi is possible for the essentials. We loved it here.

Rucksack Inn @ Temple Street

Singapore, Singapore

Brilliant hostel! Can't beat the location for nightlife and shopping and the staff are wonderful. The 20 bed room can feel a little bit exposed but there are lockers and air con and the beds are super comfy so no complaints. free toast and tea/coffee is a nice touch too and the kitchen/bathroom and tv lounge are lovely. it's the perfect place to meet people and chill out, I loved it here! Thanks guys :)

Urban Guesthouse

Koh Samui, Thailand

We stayed in the triple room which was gorgeous and huge. Lovely owners and the cafe downstairs is great for both food, drinks and prices. It really feels like home here, it\'s literally 2 minutes from the beach and about ten from the busy/club end of the main street which is great for both quick access and a good night sleep. I\'d recommend it to anyone!
