A&O Köln Neumarkt

Cologne, Germany

Our stay was short so this wallet friendly option worked well for us. The facilities and hygiene were good for what we paid and the hostel was in a fairly good location. Just one thing I didn't like was that we were almost pushed out of our rooms by house keeping, 15 minutes before check out. We were still packing and changing so we didn't appreciate the gentleman who decided to just barge in telling us he would give us 5 more minutes. Wifi in the rooms would have been nice.

Hostel Van Gogh

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Our stay started with an unfriendly greeting from a temperamental man at the front desk. We went to our rooms to find out that one of the two beds on our bunk was occupied by another party, and when mentioned to the front desk "there was nothing they could do". During our stay the elevator was broken the entire time and the wifi worked only 1/20 times you tried connecting. While the location was convenient and the interior seemed newly renovated, the mouldy walls and funky smell were offputting.

Paraiso Travellers Hostel

Barcelona, Spain

The pictures are decieving, the hostel is quite cramped, our "room" (for 4 people) was more like a corridor, long and very narrow. There is only one bathroom, the toilets weren't very clean and there wasn't much ventilation. The location was alright (a 10 minute walk from the Rambla) but the neighborhood seemed a bit sketchy. Overall the hostel was okay but I wouldn't recommend it for people planning to stay for longer than a few days or groups. Nevertheless the staff was friendly and helpful.
