Best if you have a car. Very clean - they ask that you remove street shoes before entering. Carpeted floors. Just beds and a small TV in the room, but a large kitchen/dining area/laundry in the basement. Our window had no latch/lock, but it's a quiet neighborhood in Alaska so we felt secure enough. Pleasant staff seem available 24/7 but keep quietly busy. Basic shared bathrooms with great showers and plenty of hot water. Not a party place at all, which suited us fine!

We reserved 5 months in advance. The booking confirmation described the room as "Standard Twin Private Shared Bathroom". The room actually contained a double bunk, which not all 75 year old couples could manage, but we were fine with it. We were very happy with everything else. Easy walk to the waterfront and metro stations. It's a quiet place with minimal public space and just a microwave and water kettle in the hallway. It's great if you're just looking for a few good night'

Perfect location! Entry from street isn't obvious, but the directions for finding it are excellent. There is an elevator to the upper levels, which are rather like a hotel. No breakfast, but you can buy a ticket for breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Coffee and tea was provided in the common area outside our room. We would certainly stay here again.

Thanks for the review. We have recently placed a huge sign onto the corner of our building to make it easier to find us.

Perfect location! Excellent breakfast for extra charge, but reserve when you check in for lowest price. Elevator to upper floors (we stayed at the very top, on level 4) Facilities and room service like a hotel. Would definitely stay there again.

Airport pickup driver is EXCELLENT! We used her for departure too, so convenient. Busy restaurant by reception, (go through it to elevator) has super delicious food. Our deluxe double was like a four star hotel. WiFi in room sometimes blacks out briefly. Limited English at the front desk, but very good at the upstairs bar. We couchsurfed two nights in Suzjou, leaving big packs in the room. Nobody cared, but we didn't ask for a refund, Great location near subway. We'd return again!

Best--Yummy “clay pot” meals! Worst--closes 24:00, we arrived 23:30, no time to learn available services. (towels, toilet paper, food, opening time?) Info posted in reception, opens @ 7:00 IF you bang on door. 24hr building access. Good email response beforehand. WiFi in reception only. Nice deluxe double, free towels and T-paper IF YOU ASK. Daytime staff helpful, English OK, taxis arranged. Bus stops close, big market and street vendors downstairs have everything you could want.

The staff is so earnest, friendly, helpful, and happy! Convenient outdoor dining area in front, with excellent food delivered from a nice hotel right across the street. Our deluxe private twin even had air-con and TV! Everything was spotlessly clean. They offer a scheduled shuttle service to town, or you can easily walk (took this "senior" couple about 20min to town, 10min more to West street).

Deluxe double (#207) was beautiful with windows on two walls and balcony just outside. Staff very friendly and helpful, easy walk to everywhere, location is right at the edge of the tourist center. Good breakfast food available. Everything very comfortable and clean, though we preferred using the dorm shower by the laundry to keep our private bathroom dry. Sometimes had to close our front windows because other guests were smoking just outside.

It seems like we're not reviewing carefully if we say everything is excellent, but that's the way it is! We're not even vegetarians! We also spent 4 nights in Lijiang old town, and liked that too. Shuhe is similar, just smaller and more laid back, with the possibility of walking out into countryside. For older sightseers, not avid hikers, we recommend equal time in Shuhe and Lijiang old town

It's like a hotel, only no elevator. (Our room was three flights up) Reception/bar area like a night club on Saturday nights anyway. The greatest thing - they'll book a 5AM taxi to the airport, and someone will be there at reception for checkout when you come downstairs at 4:30!

Loved this place!!! Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Amy, our deluxe double was super clean and comfortable - even had upholstered chairs in the room. Free breakfast, tasty meals available anytime. Of six places we've stayed so far, Chinese Box was the best at helping guests interact in a relaxed and fun way, (family dinner, dumpling party, BBQ). Nearby subway station made city travel very easy; the hostel even lends subway cards to guests.

Returned here after original stay 3 weeks ago, this time in a deluxe double. Our private bath was nicer than the shared ones, no flooding from the shower. Towels this time. Otherwise, everything the same - clean, spacious room, comfortable bed, laid back staff, decent kitchen, basic breakfast after 9AM. We'll come here again on our next trip to BA :)!

Big bedroom, comfortable bed, extra room with table and chairs, tiny bathroom with its own hot water tank but meager shower flow. Everything spotless. Teresa is very earnest, friendly, and helpful. Breakfasts the best of our month in Argentina, with homemade chocolate cake! Kitchen has a big fridge, tables, chairs, stove and barbecue but no dishes or utensils until you ask. 20 minute walk from the historic town, residential house, no sign outside but Teresa came out to greet us. :)!

As automobile travelers headed to Cachi from Purmamarca, we liked the location just south of Salta. An upscale home, finely furnished, garage for the car, huge back yard with pool! Everything shines, it's so clean! Alicia graciously dealt with our surprise arrival, setting out lawn furniture by the pool, and joining us for a swim. She offered to have a restaurant deliver pizzas for our dinner. Walking to town, we didn't find a restaurant, so had ice cream! Breakfast was delicious too :)!

Tranquil, run by a very pleasant family, everything spotless, huge yard full of flowers, pristine pool, outdoor kitchen area with its own bathroom and shower, breakfast buffet with juice, coffee & tea, a variety of breads and rolls, all set out early so we could get to the falls quickly. We stayed 2 extra days just to enjoy the garden and pool! This was the BEST hostel we found during our month in Argentina! Would definitely come here again :)!

We'll return soon! Central location a block from 9 de Julio and two metro lines (C and E). In an apartment building, so only a small nameplate by one of the doorbells. Standard double was large, clean, quiet, comfortable, but lacked towels. Breakfast starts when the staff person wakes up, (after 9, 10 on weekends), but there's a great bakery a block away for early risers. Kitchen with refrigerator good for heating empanadas, brewing coffee or tea. One shower flooded the bathroom.
