This place was one of the most horrible places I have ever been to in (all together) 2,5 years of travelling. It's incredibly small, no windows, smelly, extremely noisy aircon. There are no windows accessible on the entire floor. The elevator of the building is super slow and people are usually queuing for it. This place has the potential to make you feel claustrophobic even if you've never been before. Not recommendable! Not in a thousand years!
The standard room is next to the staircase and therefore it may be noisy at night because people are watching movies in the common area. Apart from that, the hostel is clean, cosy, offers cheap and good sandwiches, has extremely helpful und friendly staff, and offers a high value for your money. However, the WiFi is incredibly slow, barely usable. Luckily they had hardcopies of several travel guides. The pizza is overrated.
We didn't have Internet in the double room on the 4th floor and even in the lobby is was slow. Nonetheless, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The food in This Old Place Cafe is brilliant; the pizza in the hostel itself wasn't. Location couldn't be better.
Internet was incredibly slow, barely usable. The basic double room doesn't have a window facing the street/backyard and is located next to the staircase, so it is a bit noisy if people watch movies in the common room, etc. Apart from that, the staff was super helpful with bookings/recommendations/whatever. All in all, this place is clearly worth the money!
No internet in the room and it was slow even in the common area. Staff was incredibly helpful and even tried to solve our problems with a Chinese SIM card even when we weren't there. The staff also brought in our laundry when it started raining at night. I'd clearly recommend this hostel!
Internet was slow as usual. The hostel is nice and the staff was exceptionally helpful with everything!! This hostel is located closer to the yellow mountains than the hostels in Huangshan city. If you want to see the yellow mountains, staying here can save you about an hour bus ride. We really enjoyed our stay here and felt welcome.
The beds are horrible. The doors sometimes beep for no apparent reason which is particularly annoying if someone wants to go to the bathrooms during the night. However, the staff is super friendly and helpful. They gave us umbrellas, lent us a city map, and wrote down how to get to bus stations and so on, incl. how many stops. Not suitable for people who are allergic to cats or dogs because there were 3 dogs and a few adorable kittens. :-)
Not all the rooms have Wifi. However, staff moved us to another room without complaints. The rooms are really nice for the money you pay but you'll have to walk about 10 mins to the nearest subway station.
There's practically no Wifi. Staff members were very very friendly but barely spoke English. Make sure you know the address or have it written down in Chinese because getting there is very complicated.
We stayed there in two different rooms but in both rooms sleeping was difficult because of the noise outside. Guests were shouting and talking at night, cleaning staff were chatting very early in the morning in the corridor. At first it was not too bad but after a while it became really irritating since it did not appear to be an exception.
Surely one of the best guesthouses in Cambodia.
PRO: Perfect location as it is very close to the beach and bars, etc. but it's still quite; our room was basic and clean. CON: We didn't have WiFi and a fridge in our room even though it was advertised. We moved to another place, so I can tell you that you will find a (much) better place (esp. regarding character and atmosphere and food) on the same road for the exactly same money.
Beautiful place but far away from the city. Tuktuk to Kampot cost you about 4 dollar each ride. However, it's a great place to relax. Rooms aren't completely closed, but mosquito nets are provided. Keep in mind that due to the resorts location meals are slightly more expensive than in town.
+ friendly and helpful staff + perfect location + clean rooms and good toilets/shower - many rooms without windows => it can get humid & sticky - food is rather expensive and portions rather small
PRO: All rooms have windows, nice common area, free (simple) breakfast, helpful staff with exellent English, more then enough showers/toilets on each floor, cute cats. CONS: One creepy cat :), average character of rooms and facilities, unreliable WiFi.
Nice hostel, awesome staff & service. All in all best hostel in 9 months of travelling so far..
