This is my second time here and it has improved, the guy at the desk was one of the friendliest I've encountered at a hostel and the room allocated was one of the (comparatively) largest i've seen at a hostel, as was the bed, which was also allocated. Lockers were only £1, the breakfast was basic and served in the bar downstairs, which is large but not comfortable. The only downside is the noise from the bar downstairs throughout the night but that isn't the hostels fault.
this is my third stay here and i find the place to be great value, centrally located and easy to find, this has all the basic requirements including lockers (£2 extra) in the rooms, clean bathrooms (size depends on which room you're allocated) and breakfast included (just the basics but it's included). The only reason for the low rating, I guess, is the dis-interested staff (but that depends on who you get). Would stay again if price doesn't increase.
I had seen the bad reviews but thought I'd give it a try as my standards aren't that high and it is cheap. Big Mistake, I arrived after booking 3 or 4 months before to be told there were 'no beds left', the guy seemed to find this amusing as they do this all the time. I was given the option of 'the basement' which was a cellar full of homeless people, with no security. So,I was left homeless in London. They will take your money but not give you a room. Surprised these thieves are allowed to open
The building was a bit shabby but my room seemed newly painted with clean floorboards and fresh (though thin) bed linen and room to move around, the disappointment was the breakfast which was in a tiny kitchen with one small table for the whole hostel, so I had to eat standing up! shame. Would stay again if it the price doesn't go up.
The receptionist couldn't have been nicer. Great location and easy to find. The rooms were large, though the pillows were paper thin and the beds really squeaky, the bathroom/showers were in the next room and relatively (for a hostel) large. Lockers were extra which is a bit of a rip-off. Breakfast is very basic but included and served in the bar (on the pool table!). very clean but large deposits for everything. Will go again as long as price does not increase. Only worth 10 or 11 pounds.
easy to find and in great location, the room was a bit cramped but the bathroom was in the room and was larger than most hostels, the security lockers are extra which is a bit of a rip-off and the bed's weren't labeled so it's first-come-first-served. the breakfast room is down in the basement which is a bit unappealing but it's spacious, free but basic (bread, toast, tea, coffee).Would definitely go again as long as the price does not increase as it's only worth 10 or 11 pounds. (plus deposits)
A pleasant surprise. Idealy located and easy to find. The building, reception and dining room was large, spacious and clean, the 12-bed room i was in had plenty of room to walk around with two tiolets/showers(very narrow) inside the room + large narrow lockers (but bring your own strong padlock for good security). The only rip-off is having to pay almost £5 extra for breakfast which, of course, should be free (or only £2 or £3) for paying guests. If the prices don't increase I will visit again.
A pleasant surprise. It was very easy to find, on the main street next to a main tube line. the check in was simple, friendly, I was impressed with the size of the lockers in the rooms and the room itself. yes,it's loud outside and the showers small but it's central london and breakfast is basic but it is free and as much as you want. some reviews complain about reception being in another building but its only a few doors down not that far away. will visit again if the price is the same.
