Hostel Lodi, Rome, Italy
6.6
13th Aug 2013

This hostel is not in a great location for exploring the main sights of Rome. Whilst it is about a 15 minute walk away to the Coliseum, it is through a residential area with many quiet streets and some building works. I walked from Rome Termini to this hostel and it was quite far and I didn't feel that safe as a lone female. The staff in the hostel were amazing, the room was fine (no A.C but a fan) and the breakfast in the lovely garden was nice.

Hostel Pisa Tower, Pisa, Italy

This hostel is in an excellent location and really easy to explore the city from. The staff are really friendly and very sweet. The decor is a bit crazy and not your traditional style for a hostel, but it made it more homely and I felt really comfy staying there. The room itself was nice (6 bed mixed) with personal lights and plug sockets. The room was hot even with the AC. The downside is there is only 1 bathroom for everyone, but I never had to wait more than 2/3 minutes.

Ciao Hostel, Florence, Italy
6.3
12th Aug 2013

The hostel is a 15 minute walk from Florence train station in the opposite direction to all the shops and sights. The road leading there is quite quiet, but I didn't feel unsafe really. The hostel is quite small but the rooms were really nice and the communal space was good - almost a full kitchen. The rooms are laid out really well (I was in a mixed dorm).

This is the best hostel I've stayed in. The rooms are really big, comfy and have balconies. The rooms have powerful AC - you may need to ask reception to turn this down! The pool, bar around the pool and roof terrace are lovely areas to relax and meet other travellers. The hostel is in a good location for exploring everything with a park and supermarket nearby.

Manena Hostel, Genoa, Italy
8.3
7th Aug 2013

This hostel is a short walk from the centre of town. The streets of Genoa are really small in areas so I made sure I was with someone at night walking back. The red light area of Genoa is quite near the hostel - I found this out pretty quickly, but it is one street. The staff were amazingly friendly and really fun. The hostel itself was clean, the beds a bit squeaky but generally the facilities were good.
