Hostel 7 was everything I wanted it to be, laid back, great kitchen with everything you need in it, hammocks,a pool table, surf rental nearby, option of surf lessons, right by a grocery store (with liquor) and staff were really knowledgeable about surf spots, restaurants and all the rest you'll need to know. The place has a lot of character to it too. I read a few reviews that complained about the bathrooms not being clean but they were fine. I travel alone and I met a lot of fun people there.
Paula was so helpful with travel arrangements to and from places and was very knowledgeable about what San Jose and the rest of Costa Rica has to offer.
This is a great place to meet people as they have a bar/cafeteria and a happy hour btwn 5-6. They have a disco downstairs but it's always usually empty. Breakfast was enough, toast and peanut butter and jam, coffee, milk, cheese, butter and some deli style salami but you have to get there earlier than later or there's just toast left. This place had lockers in the room big enough to hold your whole backpack, luggage storage and a maid came to clean up the ensuite everyday. Highly recommended.
