Pros: - Staff are awesome. Really friendly and helpful and accommodating. Pleasure to come back to after a day out! - Location is great (a bit noisy, but just wear earplugs!) - great common area including a nice outdoor space - breakfast is decent Cons: - loads of mosquitos and flies as doors and windows always open - beds fairly uncomfortable - no luggage storage

View Property Reply

Thanks for your comments, the flies can not do much because it is rainy season, and insectisids some more guests are allergic. In your stay we try to keep everything clean. The place is small and we can not have luggage storage.

Pros: - Great breakfast - comfortable beds - terrace and views are awesome - lots of space Cons - Not enough bathrooms - Rooms can be bright/noisy at night - Bit far out of town - but could also be a Pro! It's quiet and great exercise, and nice to be out of town

Pros: - great location - good kitchen, clean rooms and facilities, big comfortable common area - good breakfast of bagels, toast and oats - good wifi Cons: - not enough toilets - staff are mostly volunteers and form a tight clique, often hard to tell who's on reception when they're all in the kitchen eating/drinking - No recycling available! - no key at front door or dorm door. - no shelves or anything sensible in showers Overall a good stay, would recommend

Pros: - great location - cozy and friendly atmosphere - great kitchen and common area Cons: - uncomfortable mattresses - dorm incredibly stuffy and warm - no fly screen on doors and some windows. Meant there were lots of mosquitos and if the window's open in dorm, lots of leaves and dirt etc. - too few showers/toilets. Often had to wait - quite a few long termers. Found them frendly and welcoming, but taking up lots of space in the dorm

Good: Staff friendly, great location, good atmosphere (plenty of long-stayers but they're all friendly), good common area, decent wifi Bad: mattresses SUCK. Don't stay here if you have a remotely sore back. The place gets 'cleaned' daily, but they mostly just mop around stuff - including giant puddles in the hallway. bathrooms are a bit old and grungy but do the job. 12 bed dorm is dark and dingy - 24bed has a better set up

rooms had a few long stayers who spread their stuff everywhere, including other people's beds. room had uncovered skylights- impossible to sleep when the sun comes up, even with an eye mask. staff were friendly. eating area is too small at breakfast, and breakfast is meager and runs out well before 10 and isn't re-stocked. some mattresses are awful and the beds super squeaky. free pancakes are ace, internet good, events on at night, super nice lounge/common area.

Breakfast is a busy period for sure, it is free after all :) We do have 3 seating areas including the rooftop. Breakfast is restocked until 10am, but we have just this week put a sign up so that guests know to ask at Reception if we have run out of anything. All of our beds and mattresses are less than 3 months old so shouldn't be any issues. Thanks for your feedback and enjoy the rest of your time in Australia

Stayed at a cheaper hostel nearby, but had zero atmosphere. Swapped to this hostel and as soon as I checked was happy to pay the extra money - clean, comfortable, big bathrooms, washing machine available, staff are awesome and super friendly and encourage everyone to get to know each other. For a solo traveller it was great!

GOOD: Good location, staff were friendly, mini kitchen available, cheap BAD: Incredibly noisy. Longstayers/people working, so the atmosphere was non-existant. Very messy/dirty - By my 4th night I was the only one left who had been there my first night, which meant that all the old underwear, milk cartons, bathroom goods, dirty towels, smelly shoes etc belonged to no-one and the room hadn't been cleaned properly. Uncomfortable beds.

In 10 months of travelling Asia this is easily the best hostel i've ever stayed in. The staff are incredible - helpful, friendly, funny, and will gp out of their way to make sure you have a good stay. Great wifi, free breakfast which is packed for you if you go on a morning tour, huge comfortable beds in clean air conditioned dorms. Do yourrself a favour and stay here!!

4 functioning kitchen burners for over 100 guests, and very little cooking space, so don't try and cook too much! They charge for EVERYTHING - super inconvenient to have carry your dishes to and from your room because you've put a deposit down. Heaps of longstayers that take over the room. Room wasn't cleaned well. One toilet for the whole floor. But also a great atmosphere, easy to meet people, and awesome staff (especially Heidi!) so it's still fun!

Hi there, We're glad you still had fun despite the stuff you felt detracted from your stay! We have been working on getting the other set of burners set up for the last few days. Apologies for the state of the room, we have put in place a schedule to more closely monitor rooms to avoid situations like yours. Also, we do realize the dishes situation can be cumbersome, but its necessary to avoid previous theft and general messiness! If you have an alternative to this system, please tell us! Cheers

Very cute new place. Nice decos and excellent friendly staff. Location is great. Nice balcony with two hammocks. Above a lovely cafe run by the same people. However this cafe means it's a bit noisy trying to sleep before midnight. There's also no staff around before midday. Mattresses are super thin. Lockers are a trunk/chest with each bed, but they are positioned really poorly so anyone with a bad back (me!) will struggle to lift anything in or out, and to hold open the lids.

Howard is the best staff member/hostel owner I've met in almost two yrs of travelling. If something is happeninf, he makes sure everyone knows about it and will personlly invite people. He runs a dinner bike tour and makes an effort to know everyone's name. The building and furniture seem to be getting a bit run down but it has everything you need, plus an awesome rooftop. Would definitely stay again and will recommend it to anyone heading to Melaka simply because of Howard!

Got a super weird reaction from the staff member who checked me in. Didn't bother to give me a key and was quite rude about it later when I asked for one. Beds are clean and comfy, and has a nice balcony. Great location near chinatown, but quiet too. A bit of a nothing atmosphere, and doesn't seem to be many people meeting and mingling.

Good little bar downstairs - a bit dark but a nice place to meet people over breakfast. Breakfast is traditional Myanmar and changes each day which is great. Staff are fantastic - super helpful and friendly. Rooms are big enough and very clean. Bathrooms could be cleaner, but showers are hot so all in all they aren't bad! Good location - easy to get everywhere. Internet is dodgy, but that may just be Myanmar.... Overall a great hostel!!

A bit of a walk, but easily accessible by bus or car, and close to the parks. Clean and warm rooms with comfy beds, good little kitchen. Great common area - a good place to meet people, but also a cozy space to relax in. Wifi is expensive, but there are a few nearby places with free wifi. Staff are excellent - let us hang around till late while waiting for some lost luggage, even after we'd booked out that morning.

Good spot, great staff, the nightly events are fun and a great way to meet people. Spacious rooms, bathrooms were constantly being cleaned which was awesome. Good sized kitchen and common room was nice and cozy. Computers were super slow, but it's definitely a bonus that they're there in the first place, so no major complaints. The only bad thing I can say is that the beds (or the one I had anyway) was the worst I've slept on in a year of backpacking! But overall, great hostel.
