4 functioning kitchen burners for over 100 guests, and very little cooking space, so don't try and cook too much! They charge for EVERYTHING - super inconvenient to have carry your dishes to and from your room because you've put a deposit down. Heaps of longstayers that take over the room. Room wasn't cleaned well. One toilet for the whole floor. But also a great atmosphere, easy to meet people, and awesome staff (especially Heidi!) so it's still fun!

Hi there, We're glad you still had fun despite the stuff you felt detracted from your stay! We have been working on getting the other set of burners set up for the last few days. Apologies for the state of the room, we have put in place a schedule to more closely monitor rooms to avoid situations like yours. Also, we do realize the dishes situation can be cumbersome, but its necessary to avoid previous theft and general messiness! If you have an alternative to this system, please tell us! Cheers

Very cute new place. Nice decos and excellent friendly staff. Location is great. Nice balcony with two hammocks. Above a lovely cafe run by the same people. However this cafe means it's a bit noisy trying to sleep before midnight. There's also no staff around before midday. Mattresses are super thin. Lockers are a trunk/chest with each bed, but they are positioned really poorly so anyone with a bad back (me!) will struggle to lift anything in or out, and to hold open the lids.

Howard is the best staff member/hostel owner I've met in almost two yrs of travelling. If something is happeninf, he makes sure everyone knows about it and will personlly invite people. He runs a dinner bike tour and makes an effort to know everyone's name. The building and furniture seem to be getting a bit run down but it has everything you need, plus an awesome rooftop. Would definitely stay again and will recommend it to anyone heading to Melaka simply because of Howard!

Got a super weird reaction from the staff member who checked me in. Didn't bother to give me a key and was quite rude about it later when I asked for one. Beds are clean and comfy, and has a nice balcony. Great location near chinatown, but quiet too. A bit of a nothing atmosphere, and doesn't seem to be many people meeting and mingling.

Sleep In Hostel

Good little bar downstairs - a bit dark but a nice place to meet people over breakfast. Breakfast is traditional Myanmar and changes each day which is great. Staff are fantastic - super helpful and friendly. Rooms are big enough and very clean. Bathrooms could be cleaner, but showers are hot so all in all they aren't bad! Good location - easy to get everywhere. Internet is dodgy, but that may just be Myanmar.... Overall a great hostel!!

A bit of a walk, but easily accessible by bus or car, and close to the parks. Clean and warm rooms with comfy beds, good little kitchen. Great common area - a good place to meet people, but also a cozy space to relax in. Wifi is expensive, but there are a few nearby places with free wifi. Staff are excellent - let us hang around till late while waiting for some lost luggage, even after we'd booked out that morning.

Good spot, great staff, the nightly events are fun and a great way to meet people. Spacious rooms, bathrooms were constantly being cleaned which was awesome. Good sized kitchen and common room was nice and cozy. Computers were super slow, but it's definitely a bonus that they're there in the first place, so no major complaints. The only bad thing I can say is that the beds (or the one I had anyway) was the worst I've slept on in a year of backpacking! But overall, great hostel.
