An extremely friendly and happy hostel run by Juliet who is so helpful and full of fun! She made us feel at home immediately and made us laugh with her many stories! The hostel is under renovation at the moment on the lower floor but this does not affect the upstairs at all. The rooms have plenty of space and Juliet will store valuables for you if you wish. There is a kitchen to use and Juliet will make porridge for you for breakfast if you want some. She is knowledgeable about the area too!

Lovely relaxing place with great rooms, a pool, bar, loads of hammocks and resident pelicans and turtles' eggs! Restaurant is quite pricey for a backpacker but there are amazing fish shacks a 15 minute walk along the beach! We spent a few nights here and loved it all!

This was fine for us to stay 4 nights while we were in El Tunco. It is a very quiet place and looks like it was once very nice but has either been left to become run down or is in the process of being improved. The staff do not make much of an appearance and so it took us a while to find anyone to ask questions. The surroundings are lovely and it is a short walk to the beach (it is located up on the main road right by the entrance sign to El Tunco as you get off the bus) the rooms are basic!

Samba Rooms Hostel

Samba Rooms is a really well designed hostel with a big lounge, kitchen and dining room and big dorms. The decor is modern and cool and it has a nice feel. The bathrooms are new looking with hot showers :-) the beds could do with looking neater when you arrive- in our room blankets and pillows were all over the place so it didn't look as though it was clean from previous guests. The buzzer system on entry and exit could be better (maybe a camera needed? Or get to know guests' names for identity?)

Good for a 1 or 2 night stay before/after the salt flats. Could do with a bit of insulation or more heaters!! Beds comfy and warm with lots of fleecy blankets. Hot showers. Has WiFi but sometimes weak in the common room. Generally a good place to stay but wrap up warm!!

We really liked this hostel. Roxana was a very friendly and helpful member of staff who helped us when we needed her Spanish speaking abilities in the local restaurant!! It has clean bathrooms but mats could do with being changed as they are fake grass and so can't be washed!rooftop terrace has great views of Volcano Misti. Breakfast is tea, coffee, bread with jam but you can order eggs etc. Beds a little 'springy' but warm and generally comfy. Big lockers too.Quirky bar with drink offers & games.

Very small place but pleasant. Tiny kitchen and TV room. Only 2 showers (1 for men 1 for ladies) but they are really clean and have hot water!! Really close to the sea and the beach (not very clean beach but ok!) Staff speak only Spanish, are friendly and can book tours and bikes for you. Good little place to stay.

Friendly staff helped us with onward travel and always say hola as you come in. Good beds, nice bedding and big lockers. Breakfast was the usual bread and jam with a hot drtink but nicely done in the breakfast room with little tables set up for you. Rooftop bar, nice but wasn't busy when we were there. Wasn't noisy at all and we stayed 3 nights. Hot showers and the bathrooms were generally clean. We arrived early one morning and we could have showers before our room was ready. Would recommend !

Very friendly staff- particularly Anna! Would be good to have a softer seating area in the bar as not many people sit there at the moment. Lovely seating outside but not if its raining! Quite close to a lot of areas, you can walk to the river front, street 51 (for bars, restaurants) and the royal palace. Over all a good place to stay!
