In Da Lodge

Ubud, Indonesia

Another beautiful hostel option for a reasonable price. Building is nice, old Indonesian style, with nice open lounge. A little difficult to find, but once you know where it is it's a short walk to main intersection of Ubud. Rooms were clean, hot water was a little tempermental. Overall a great place to stay.

The Eco-Living Hostel, Bali

Kuta, Indonesia

Staff were friendly and there was a very relaxed vibe. Dorm had lockers, but was very cramped - 16 beds squeezed into what is basically a hallway. Bathrooms were nice, but girls bathroom was under renovation and shower stalls had little space. Location is a 20-30 minute walk to beach, not a lot in the immediate area. Reasonable price for what it was.

Hotel Rengganis

Amazing hotel that was a pleasant surprise. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful - always smiling! Rooms were nice and very clean, hotel itself was beautiful old style with pool and full breakfast buffet with Indonesian food included. All at a price I would normally pay for a cramped dorm room. Not right in the middle of things, but short walk to restaurants, tourist facilities and the palace. Highly recommended.

Old Penang GuestHouse

Charming hostel in old-style Penang house. Reasonably quiet but close to other restaurants, bars and the downtown in general. No complaints.

Charming hostel on a resorty island. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Only a short walk to the beach, and the facilities were reasonable and well-kept. Highly recommended.

Pak-Up Hostel

Krabi, Thailand

Great hostel with great facilities - laundry machines, pack lockers, activity setup and motorbike rental. Dorm rooms had a/c for a reasonable price. Good atmosphere, two bars in the hostel with events every night, but not overly loud for those seeking some quiet.

Baan Gafiyah

Krabi, Thailand

Spacious rooms and walkable to the main attractions of Krabi town. Air/con rooms were double the price of fan rooms so not the best value for money if you need a comfortable sleep. Nice family and good service. Overall a pleasant stay here, would have been happy to stay longer if a/c had been a little cheaper.

Ibiza House Phi Phi

Okay hostel - nothing special. Short walk to beach but this also meant lots of noise until late in the night. Fan rooms were too hot to sleep and walls were not proper enough to keep out insects and mosquitoes. Service was again okay.

Baan Kamala

Great place near Kamala beach. Very kind and genuine staff, felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Because of construction we were upgraded to a deluxe which was so wonderful - beautiful rooms, fridge, safety deposit box, tv, and great wifi.

At Beach Bed & Bar

Koh Phangan, Thailand

Great value for money - cheap dorm rooms, right on the beach, great restaurant and bar. The beach itself wasn't the best in Koh Phagnan, but great for lying on the hammocks or a short motorbike ride somewhere else. Staff were very friendly and helpful - massaged and cleaned my friend's foot when he stepped on a sea urchin!

Bada Bing Hostel Istanbul

Would highly recommend this place to any backpacker. I stayed here about two weeks in total. The owner was not my personal favourite, but the main staff were very kind and quickly made the place feel like home. Can't say enough about them. Great facilities - kitchen for use, rooftop area, individual lockers big enough for your whole pack. It wasn't right in the tourist centre, but only a 20 min, beautiful walk to the main sites or right near the tram. Would go back any day.

Nomad Cave Hostel

Goreme, Turkey

I really enjoyed my stay at Nomad Cave Hostel. The staff went above and beyond their regular duty to ensure that you had a good time in Cappadocia, and arranged quality service with reputable companies. The atmosphere was great and only a short walk to the many restaurants and tour organizations of Goreme. The hot showers were outside and not always hot, and there was only one key for dorm rooms, but these were minor inconveniences to an overall pleasant stay.

Artemis Yoruk Hotel

Pamukkale, Turkey

Nice hostel-hotel with extra amenities. Hot pool is not very hot in winter, and masseuse was absent at my time of visiting, but the facilities and rooms are still exceptional for the price. Close to Pamukkale travertines and dinner options.

ANZ Guesthouse

Selcuk, Turkey

Reasonably priced hostel in walking distance of the Selcuk bus station. Only two bathroom-shower stalls. Staff had interesting way of communicating with patrons, often seemed to change his mind regarding services requested.

Equipment rental was significantly more than the dive shops a few hundred meters up the road. Generally good hotel with good price compared to others in Aqaba.

Cleopetra Hostel

Petra, Jordan

Absolutely outstanding hotel manager, who is truly interested in the well being of its patrons. Felt very at home here after only three nights. Rooms were clean with en suite bathroom. Also the first room with a double bed that we were able to get in Jordan. Good meals, optional home cooked dinners, and help arranging onward buses, tours, etc. Hotel is about a 15 -20 minute walk from the Petra entrance, but offers drop- off service.

Cliff Hotel

Great hostel with welcoming and helpful staff. We spent over a week here and had no issues. With the completion of bathroom renovations it will be even better. For couples, there are only rooms with two twin beds, no double beds.
