Staff, rooms and facilites were great. Good breakfast and excellent hang-out areas. Location is good as it is very near the ADO station and local bus stops. The one thing that really bothered us was the loud music played there from 7am each day. It certainly adds to the atmosphere in the night but there is no need to play it so early and wake everyone up. Even from 9am would be more considerate of the guests!

Jungle Party Hostal

Antigua, Guatemala

This hostel was a terrible experience. We arrived but they had lost our booking and rudely told us it was our fault until we showed them a copy of our booking. They then split our group into beds in different rooms. These rooms were a cheaper rate than what we booked but they wanted to charge us our booking rate! The beds provided were littered with rubbish and not yet made (at 3pm). Another couple arrived after us and their booking had been 'lost' too. Would not recommend to anyone!

Mikaso Hotel y Restaurante

Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

No keys for the bigger rooms and there were no mosquito covers (windows left wide open), only cold showers also. Apart from that we had a great stay, the facilities make it worthwhile: hot tub on the balcony, views of the lake and mountains and a great restaurant (best pizza and chips in guatemala!)

The Old House Hostel

This hostel is only starting up and considering that its doing well. The outside looks very shabby and needs a paint job but once you get in there is a lovely balcony to chill out on. The rooms were fine but sheets could have been cleaner, also we stayed in a room at the front which got a lot of noise from the road out front. Kitchen is decent (but lacking a toaster). Staff were very helpful. We would recommend this over all, if minor improvements are made this could be a great hostel!

The staff were very helpful in booking trips and making travel arrangements. The hostel itself is down some rundown lanes and we did not feel very safe walking to and from it at night. The 'pool' is only a small tub that you can dip your feet into, a body would hardly fit length-ways in there. Also our room was VERY small, it was an 8 person room with 4 bunk beds and only 2 people could stand in the middle of the room at any one time. It was not perfect but a fine hostel for a short stopover!

We were a group of six and had a six bed ensuite dorm to ourselves which was perfect! We stayed for a weekend, the Friday night was really great in the hostel, you can buy bottles of wine there for 6e. The free breakfast is quite good, lots of cereal, bread and juice. The staff were very helpful and recommended different activities for us to do, and the location was great, just a minutes walk from the main square! Nice is a gorgeous place and we were sorry we couldn't stay longer!

Our room faced the street so it was very noisy in the morning. Basic but in a great location.

Very well organized place and right on the black beach. Downside is that it's 20mins on bus away from Fira and 40mins away from Oia. Room was a little too basic for the price we paid, but a good stay all in all.

The shower in the room is tiny and hand-held. Apart from that, a brilliant place to stay! Staff are very helpful, location is 200m away from the port, beach and supermarket, pool is great and main town is 2mins on a bus or a 10min walk! Wish I had stayed there longer!

Shower was terrible and would flood the whole bathroom. Great location for a quick stopover though.

Only 5 minutes on the metro to Las Ramblas, a bit strange walking by the funeral home beside it every day but ignoring that, a great place to stay. The pool on the roof is AMAZING. Wonderful view of the entire city while relaxing on the deck chairs. Would definitely stay here again.
