Deejai Backpacker

Chiang Mai, Thailand

A truly unforgettable hostel... The best feature is a spacious chill-out area where you can both relax and mingle with other travellers while Rob (the owner and resident eccentric) informs about trekking possibilities and entertains with his eclectic taste in music. It's slightly further from the centre than other hostels but Chiang Mai is small so stop being lazy and just walk the 15mins to town. The only thing I can really fault it on is that the food & drink are a bit pricey for the quality.

Ganesha Family Guesthouse

Battambang, Cambodia

A quaint hostel, conveniently located in Battambang. I was struck down with food poisoning while in BB (not from the food from the hostel...that was excellent) so I spent a lot of time relaxing there. It has a very chilled atmosphere with friendly staff and a charismatic owner. I recommend.
