hostel DEN, Tokyo, Japan

A decent hostel in the business district of Tokyo, all for a decent cost. We were a couple sharing a private double room, so didn't do a lot of socialising, though there was some activity for those who are that way inclined. Decor of the room was fun, young and clean. Showers were great - better than in the more expensive hotels we stayed in in other parts of Japan - though chances are they won't be on your floor. Close metro connections make up for the less-than-lively neighbourhood.

I really hated this hotel. After a string of great experiences around Europe, this one was the most average. Chiefly, the location is terrible. Nothing around it, and a good 10 min walk with bags to train station. Directions provided by hostel are not strong either. The hostel itself is like a rabbit warren of corridors. Once I found room with help of 11 year old girls also staying at hostel (ugh, I know, right!) I then had the displeasure of sharing a five-bed room with just four lockers.

Great. Nice rooms, although power points in bad spots (this should be a priority for all hostels). Sound of Music screening a nice touch, though common room has no personality. Kitchen a small and strange setup. Bar was great though.

hi there. priority 1 is to be cheap as possible i'd say. our house was rebuilt after second worldwar and its simply hard to move a lot of stuff. neverthe less we work on this and have this ready by the end of the year.

Pretty great hostel - you'd struggle to find much better worldwide. It's got everything you need. Wifi could be stronger, but I'm nitpicking.

So quiet. Rooms not particularly extraordinary but wouldn't expect anything else. Kind staff. Can be loud on weekends as clubs all around it.

Nice enough for a short stay. Staff are excellent, and what makes it worth your money. Rooms are a bit old-hat and bathrooms very simple (no lock on toilet door in my room!) But you're not in Cappadocia for the hostel accom. Get out and see the sights.

Not much going on here. New-ish looking facilities but basically empty. Staff were fine, beside a stuff-up with my payment. Not a lot to do in Ankara as a tourist either, so I'd head straight to Cappadocia or Istanbul.

I really loved my time here. It sounds bizarre: a hostel with no locks on doors, and one you have to buzz to get in every time. But it all works, chiefly because the boys who run the place are very diligent and friendly. My stay made an amazing Eurovision week all the more fun. Thanks everyone.

A perfectly average hotel in an unremarkable area of Brussels. Got in late and was conveniently buzzed in with key waiting on front desk. Only problem was my double room was a twin room. No one on duty to amend problem so just had to deal with it.

Probably the best hostel I've ever stayed at. Beautiful, stylish interiors. Clean and near-new bedding. Well equipped kitchen with fridges organised according to rooms (a great idea) and free pasta always available. Met great people. A perfect four nights. Thanks, guys.

A really nice hostel experience. Some room located in a building down the road, but that didn't matter. The common area at reception was stylist and cozy. I'd happily visit again. And Norrebro is a cool neighbourhood. Just be prepared for a 30min walk into the heart of CPH.

This place has undergone a facelift lately, but its what President Obama might call 'lipstick on a pig'. Perhaps some consideration could've been given to the truly sub-par bathroom facilities, or as a payrise to the staff to try and illicit a smile? Security was fine on this occassion, but the halls are populated with a menagerie of creepers who pace around wheezing through their tracheotomy holes, or arguing with the voices inside their head.

Let's be honest: it's a bit of a shitheap once you get past the ornate entry. Smelly and cramped rooms, with busy reception area and only weak wifi available. But right near train station, so for my 12 hours in town it was convenient. Don't visit Frankfurt unless you have to, though. Nothing to see/do.

A very satisfactory hostel. Easily accessible from the hauptbahnhof and situated in a cute corner of the old city. Odd layout of bedroom, which shoehorned beds into one end of a big room, but I guess that left some sitting space at the other end. Was only here for one night, but would choose to come back if in leipzig again.

A very positive hostel experience. New and clean, bright and fresh facilities that the staff take good care of. Located 5 min walk from Warschauer Str. station, and in close proximity to the very cool Kreuzberg neighbourhood with plenty of great clubs. Adding a kitchen to this boutique hostel would make it just about perfect. Thanks for Jörg, Peter and co.

An excellent hostel experience. The staff are truly wonderful. Their explanation of the facilities and the area when you arrive is the best customer service I've received in a hostel. It's a new accommodation and they're definitely doing everything they can to impress. Lots of social activities to join in if you are so inclined. Thanks to the team.

I genuinely love this hostel. Big, light, well-located. It's not dripping with character (feel more like a convention centre inside) but I felt really comfortable here .I especially love the atrium on level one, which I don't think many people knew about because I was often left to myself in the big lounge area. Would happily come back again.

This hostel is about 15-20 minutes walk from the Altstadt and there isn't much to see/do in the vicinity. There is, however, supermarkets, some cafes and fast food restaurants. And if feels relatively secure walking alone at night. The hostel itself is absolutely fine. The 8-bed dorm was cozy but had lockers and needed a passcode to enter. Breakfast is really good. Thanks to Patrick for a satisfactory 2-night stay.

It's perfectly fine place to stay on a (very) short trip to NYC. Any longer than 4-5 days and you'd tire of it. Apart from the young gentleman who decided on having relations in the bed opposite at 2am, then toppling off the top of his paramour mid-act, I was comfortable. Nice to have a single bed instead of a bunk, too.

This is more like a homestay than a hostel. There's only one room, I think, and the staff live on the premises. Depending on which way you're inclined, you might view it as cozy, or you might view it as uncomfortable. I found it quite comfy here, and stayed for over a week. It can be noisy at night with the bathroom right next door and creaky door. But on the whole, no complaints.
