The hostel had a fun atmosphere, with modern decor and great helping staff. The two bedroom we stayed in had a good size, although the pillow was too soft and it lacked AC. Shower was ok, and breakfast was simple, but good (bread, cheese, cereal, cake, coffee and tea).

Better location impossible, in the middle of the city center. Breakfast was simple, but good (some types of bread, cereal, fresh fruit, coffee & tea). The employees were friendly and helpful. The hostel has a nice common room with computers, close to the bar, where everybody hangs out, making it easier to meet other travelers. Rooms were big, but with small lockers.

The hostel is very well located, in a quiet area of Leidseplen, accross a beautiful park, but still close to everything, including the most popular museums. Breakfast was good (many types of bread, cereals, fruit, juices, cheese, jams etc), the beds were confy (although rooms were tiny and the pillow was a bit thin) and the employees were nice and helpful. Food at the bar was also good & cheap for Amsterdam's standards. The place lacked character though, w/ lots of elementary school trips.

The staff is definetely the gem of the place. Our room was really spacious and the hotel offered good value for money tours. It´s also really centrally located. The major downside was lack of AC in the room, but we heard this is very common in Oaxaca. Suggestions: (1) the hotel could sell water (and maybe snacks) in the reception, so we wouldn´t have to go out all the time. (2) offering a continental breakfast in the terrace would also be nice.

Good points: unbeatable location, good free wifi, fantastic gym, cheap eateries close by, some of the staff was very friendly, specially Dorothy at reception (others were a bit grumpy). Areas for mprovements: in dire need of bathroom renovation (and adding more bathrooms as well). There´s no place to hang your clothes in bathroom, it´s always crowded and it´s not ventilated. Rooms are also a bit old, but the beds are comfy and they do the deal.

La Mansion has a lot of potential! The house itself is gorgeous w/ huge rooms! Can´t wait for the renovation to be completed to try the pool on my next trip to LA. The staff is really friendly, breakfast is good (rolls, cereals, eggs etc) & the wifi works well. Suggestions: put darker curtains in the twin room/2nd floor (it gets really light early in the morning) and hangers in the closet. It´d also be nice to block the view of the door connecting the two rooms in the 2nd floor (more privacy).

The hostel is centrally located, the staff is incredibly nice and helpful, the bunk bed room was spacious, shower had good pressure and hot water, breakfast was simple but fresh and tasty, and the wifi worked well. Only down thing: it looked as if they were renovating the restaurant, so we had to take our breakfast back to the room.

Cozy no frills hostel (no free breakfast, no free wifi or other perks). Staff was friendly. Needs to improve heating system, girls bathroom on second floor was a bit cold, water in the shower didn´t heat up properly, and we had to walk through the garden in the cold to get to our bathroom (we stayed in a cabin outside the main house).

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to leave these comments of which I would like to take the chance to reply. Though we do not offer free breakfast this reflects our cheaper price compared to some hostels that do. We do however offer free tea and coffee, and have a fresh herb garden brimming with free herbs for guests use. For the first time in a long time we have had a couple of issues with water temperature of which we have now resolved. You have also only given our 19th century villa (bursting with character) a 3/5 for character which we feel is unjustified. Also a 3/5 for atmosphere which we have have an award for best atmosphere. Again we appreciate your comments and will take them into account. Thanks, enjoy the rest of your time in NZ.

Basic & full of problems. We needed wifi, but it hadn´t been working for 2 weeks. Aini was very nice & took us to a wifi coffee shop & even got us coffee, so we overlooked this fault. Later on, however, we discovered the WORST bedbug infestation in our room. At first, we felt bad about leaving a negative review, since Aini claimed she had never seen such bugs before. What a surprise to read it in here that not only she knew about them for 2 weeks, but also did nothing about it. What a shame!

Thank you for your feedback. We regret the wifi was down during your stay. The telco company attemted several repairs but unfortunately they were unsuccessful. The company has recently chang the entire wifi system and wiring after repeated complaints from us.We are only glad the wifi is working well now.We also regret that you faced bedbugs situation. Our pest control company has taken care of the problems. Please resassured that we engaged professional pest control to fumigate the hostel regularly and if at any time bedbugs are found the pest control company will be called for immediate treatment.

The hostel was close to little india and had an ok breakfast, but the staff was unorganized and a bit unfriendly (exception was a guy during last night). We scheduled an airport pickup, but no one showed up (and after we called it took more than 1 hour & a half). When we got to the hotel (passed 3pm), no one apologized for the pickup and our tiny room w/o windows wasn't ready. We then decided to upgrade the room, but the lady at the receptionist wasnt adding up our hostelworld deposit. A mess!

The hostel is new, centrally located, offering free simple breakfast, a good (but pricey for the area) restaurant and rooftop bar. If you want to party all night, this is for you. If not, might be better to go somewhere else, or at least get a twin room (a bit farther away from the noise). Even with custom made ear plugs, we could hear the mic and the music until after 3am.

The hostel is in a quiet location, a 10 minute walk from the city center. It´s beautifully decorated with wooden cambodian motifs. It has a nice pool and restaurant and the rooms are really spacious. The staff is very friendly and it´s easy to catch a tuktuk right in front of the hostel. The place is very clean and you can book tours if you want. Suggestions for improvement: add more variety to breakfast (mainly different breads and cheese).

They didn't tell us that the hotel was undergoing heavy structural renovation when we booked. We got there wishing to rest, but it was impossible with all the noise from the hammering and the machinery. We asked for a discount, but they denied, transfering us to another noisy and dusty room. We felt cheated at staying there, since the advertising on hostelworld wasn't what we got.

The hotel is in the middle of the old quarter, but still manages to be quiet at night. Good buffet breakfast (toast, other types of bread, cold cuts, eggs, even salad and noodles) and spacious rooms with cable flat TV, small fridge and good strong shower. Wifi worked well in every floor and you can book tours to sapa and halong bay there. Only improvement would be to change the doors' locking system as people slam them shut (they do not close easily).

The hotel is close to everything, but there´s a bar next door with loud music 'til 11:30pm (Laos has a curfew after that). The twin room was big, w/ confy beds, AC & a small fridge. Breakfast was simple but fresh (you can choose from different types of breakfasts). Wifi dind´t work at all, must computers could't even find the network. Centrally located, but still far from all the noise. They have a simple, but fresh breakfast and their own tour agency (with good prices). Liked: the room is huge, fridge & DVD in the room, good location (somewhat close to the beach, but not noisy), staff was super helpful & friendly, Ang Thong Tour was incridible. Dind´t like: moldy smell in room, bed sunk in the middle, had to go down in the morning to get coffee (hot water in the room would´ve been nice), wifi only in lobby. TIPS FOR TRAVELERS: Do NOT book the Holiday minivan service from Koh Samui to Phuket. It was a 12 hour journey, w/ a 2h wait in a horrible (no toilet) bar.

Staying at Kelly's is already a chinese experience. Because it's in a hutong, you can see the daily local life. It's quiet, so you can sleep well, but close to the metro and a busy street, so you can go around easily. Breakfast is simple (toast, muffings, fresh fruit, juice & coffee), but fresh, and you have hot water in the room to make an afternoon tea (or eat noodles). The rooms had a lovely chinese decor and bob, who runs the place and never sleeps, is always eager to help w/ great advice.

The best thing about the hostel is the location, close to everything and in a nice part of the main island. Although they claim to have a kitchen, it's not true (not even an oven to show for it). The location is superb (right on a white sandy beach), the showerhead is strong, and although they dont have a restaurant, the breakfast is fresh/ delicious. However, as they dont have a generator & the power supply in the country is unreliable, more often than not we didnt have electricity in the room (no fans in the hot night or pumped water for the shower). Tips for improvement: sell chips/cookies & drinks, have guests choose breakfast time (we´d wake up at 7 & have to wait ´til 9 am to eat).

Hi Leticia, thanks for your comments and feedback they are really useful. We usually wait to serve breakfast until we see guests on their balcony so as not to disturb late sleepers but we shall ask guests a time they prefer, good tip! Electricity cuts are usually early evening and less than 1 hour duration but I'm afraid were worse during your stay. This was due to work on connecting an underwater cable to mainland Tanzania which will result in stronger constant power for the island of Zanzibar. Apologies but I'm glad you still enjoyed your holiday, karibu tena!

Riad Al Tainam, Marrakech, Morocco

1st Jan 2012

The riad is located inside the Medina, close to everything. The breakfast was fresh and great (looove moroccan bread) the staff was very helpful, specially the security guard at night, who was very friendly, the wifi worked well downstairs, and the room was spacious. Only suggestion for improvemente: work on the hot water, if two people took a shower one after the other, the hot water would sometimes not work.

28th Dec 2011

The hostel was centrally located with very friendly staff, simple but good free breakfast, and ok wifi. Suggestions for improvement: put a mirror in the room (with one shared bathroom, it helps people to stay less time in them), a mat on the bathrom floor, so it doesn't get so wet, and stop doing cleaning and laundry at 6 am, as it gets really noisy.

I had a great time in Las Musas! The staff is wonderful, the pub crawl was a lot of fun and I met lots of cool people. Wifi worked well, breakfast was simple but good, the room was spacious and clean. Would definitely recommend it! But if you're looking for peace and quiet, this might not be for you.

This is a clean, centrally located hotel, with free wifi and fresh breakfast (for an adfitional proce). Although it's basic, it's a great value for money and the people who work there are the friendliest and most professional I've met in France. Definitly worth it!

Hotel Alizea, Avignon, France

The hotel has a good location and spacious rooms, but none of that matters when you find a mouse in the bathroom on your first night, and then, when you change rooms, get attacked by bedbugs (even found one specimen, which I brought down to the reception. The guy just said he would tell the boss on Monday, and I left the hotel early). It has been my worst experience. Besides, they use a material to "clean" the bathroom that has a very strong smell, probably to disguise how dirty the place is.

It´s just a basic room. Has everything you need, a clean (but tiny) room/shower in a central location and wifi. It would help if the person at the reception spoke English.

The hotel is centrally located, you can walk to the sites& there´re food places and a supermkt near by. The staff was friendly and helpful (although they´re not there in the afternoon). My room was clean with a simple bed, a desk and a sink. There´s only one coed shower in the 4th floor (I was in the 2nd), but there was never a queue. There´s no common kitchen, or place to meet other travelers. A small fridge in the room would have been helpful. Its a basic hotel to stay close to everything.

GOOD: aperitivo night is great (4 euro for wine & you get all this food), wifi works well, good breakfast, centrally located (the duomo is right there), huge lockers in the room, very, very helpful staff, good showers, easy to meet travelers. Just a tip for improvement in the future: change the model of bunk beds. If the person on the top turns, the whole thing shakes (in both rooms I've been).

Seven Hostel, Sorrento, Italy

12th Nov 2011

The hostel isn´t in the center of sorrento, but it´s really close to the train station (one stop away from sorrento) in a quiet/safe neighborhood. It has a great modern bar in the 1st floor, they had live music when I was there (and this was during low season). Great strong showers, sturdy & comfy bunk beds, huge lockers in the room, individual bed lights AND plugs to charge your stuff, elevator, great restaurant with 20% off for people staying at the hostel, good free basic breakfast. PERFECT!

Good: Great, helpful staff; good breakfast; close to the train station and lots of historical sites; wifi works well. Not so good: bathroom smelled a little; some of the showers had no hot water; bunk beds were very squeaky; rooms were small (not place to leave your backpack and the lockers didn´t fit them either).

Good points: Great, very helpful staff; ok breakfast; very central location, easy to find from train station and close to the metro and to many sites; well equiped kitchen; since it's a small hostel, it's easy to meet other travelers; strong shower head. Points to improve: put hooks/hangers in the rooms, it's easier to organize the jackets & towels; add a laundry machine.
