Pretty basic hostel, your not going to find many parties in Goreme so it's pretty chilled out. The staff were very helpful with booking activities, and got us a pretty good discount on ballon flights. I don't know about all the rooms but ours was definitely not a genuine 'cave', but rather sprayed cement. It was in the side of the hill though and certainly looked and felt like a cave so the experience was enjoyable non the less. Recommend this for backpackers
Great location, great staff, amazing rooftop bar and balcony.
One of the funniest hostels I've ever stayed at. The staff do an amazing job of keeping everything running smoothly yet also relaxing and partying with the guests and making sure everyone is included. The meals are also awesome! Special thanks to Brian, Amy, Madge and Paddy!
One of the best party hostels in the world. However this often means it is always chaos, so don't expect to be put in the room you booked or with the people in your group. That being said you will not spend much time in your room as the partying and chilling is great.
There is no Shalimar Hostel, instead they just book you a room in the Howard Johnson Inn and the same address. The Howard Johnson is good. But DO NOT book through this booking service. We booked 6 nights with a total of about $210 to pay on arrival. Only to be told when we arrived the booking service had cancelled our reservation because they had given it to us to cheaply. We nearly had to pay $650 but the HOJO people were very cool and gave it to us for the original. Don't trust this place!!!
Good location, however there are only 6 toilets and 6 showers (unisex) for the whole hostel to share. They often close 3 of each at a time to clean which causes big waits. They also have a laundry in the hostel but the housekeeping staff uses all of the laundry facilities all morning until 2pm. They claimed there were signs explaining this but there were none. We wanted to wash our clothes but were directed to a close by laundromat.
Great just a bit expensive.
Wifi doesn't work on the fifth floor. Nothing really happening at the hostel. Just a place to crash, didn't meet anyone
Stayed here for the second time over UMF 2013 and Spring Break. It was as good a party hostel as I remember, however we were moved to their offsite apartments for the first 4 nights. These apartments suck! We booked for a 6 bed dorm and got an 8 bed apartment. The rooms were never cleaned once while we were there. Fortunately we were able to move into the hostel for the last few days. Great hostel for anyone who wants to party, just be very wary of the apartments!
Had hoped to stay as a group so I booked 10 beds in a 10 bed dorm and asked during the booking to be placed in one room. They said that was fine, then a week before our arrival they emailed me telling me that 5 of us in 2 different rooms was the best they could do. Then when we arrive it turns out we are in 4 different rooms. The staff member was unsympathetic and non helpful and nobody of management was there to be talked to, this being 4:30 on a Friday.
Good location and facilities but annoying staff that ruined the atmosphere. Random charges at check in we were not told about. As soon as we got there we got the feeling we weren't wanted. Constantly asked to prove who we were, a security guard even came into our dorm and demanded to see all our room keys. Very aggressive security told us "he would personally chuck us off the roof". great place ruined by unhelpful Would stay there again but only after trying somewhere else.
