Sihome Backpackers Hostel

Vientiane, Laos

A superb hostel in a city with few. Couldn't check in early but they let me nap and even gave me breakfast for free. One of the best full western breakfasts in any hostel I've been to (several options, fully cooked). Good location, near enough to the major spots. Staff are friendly and helpful with bookings, finding things in the city. Rooms are comfy, bathrooms have good water. Overall excellent for this part of the world.

The Siem Reap Hostel

Siem Reap, Cambodia

A well equipped hostel with superb location. Close to the night market and Pub Street. Next to ample facilities. Clean, good bar and restaurant, lovely pool. Beds are comfy. Bathrooms in dorms leave lots to be desired (one toilet and shower for 6 people) but had good water pressure and were cleaned daily. Staff were either great (owners, bar staff) or poor (front desk). Only true downside was hostel is overly commercial. Tend to nickel and dime, not have change at front desk, push tours.

Hi &thanks for the review. Not sure why 1 of 6 beds in a dorm with separate toilet &bathrooms ensuite wouldn't be considered good value for $6! There r extra toilets & showers on the 3rd flr. Re your comments re customer service - we provide employment & ongoing training for young Cambodians. Commercial? The Hostel has a proud history of improving wages, maternity &paternity leave &community support programs while providing top shelf budget accommodation. Happy travels! :-)

Hiroshima Hana Hostel

Hiroshima, Japan

The atmosphere at this hostel is its weak point. Though located near the train station, it is in a dingy neighbourhood and far from all the relevant sights and fun spots of Hiroshima. You are better staying further in the city, as that would be more useful during your time there. The hostel is clean and staff are friendly. Facilities are all per the Japanese standard, though there are too few showers and they are not located on each floor. Overall acceptable but below Japnese average.

A very nice guesthouse near the fantastic Asakusa area of Tokyo (very near). Fully equipped with all the clean facilities you should expect from a Japanese hostel. Also has a nice rooftop terrace. The only downside is that it is part guesthouse and part hostel which makes the atmosphere somewhat muted unless you have a good group of guests.

Thank you for your comments. We hope to see you again next time.

One of the best hostels I've ever seen. Cleanliness was top notch. Full facilities. But the real reason to stay here is the gorgeous bar. Beautifully designed, reasonable priced and usually busy. Easily the standout Tokyo hostel.
