This hostel was excellent! I didn't realize that the Castillo San Cristóbal fort was literally across the street from the hostel! This hostel is within walking distance of everything and the town is so charming! The receptionists were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our private room was basic and clean- as expected. There were 3 bathrooms on our floor, 2 with showers and they were always available and clean. The balconies are amazing for relaxing and catching up on emails with the free wifi.
We used this hostel for our last night just to sleep for a few hours before taking their free shuttle to the airport at 5:00am. They are not a party hostel and aren't shy about that either. The staff wasn't the most friendly but was helpful. We were only there for about 8 hours to sleep so can't say much about the area. There is a super market about 3 blocks away which was nice for a late night snack after our long bus ride there. Airport is really close and was about a 5 -10 min commute.
This place was really fun with good people. There is a pool, large outdoor bar area, hammocks, slack line, etc. As tempting as it is to just stay at the facility, you have to get out and explore La Fortuna. The staff is really helpful. We booked all of our tours and transportation VERY last minute and the staff arranged it with a smile. We stayed in the tents and it was great (they give you a lock and locker for your valuables). You should really try the tents out if you don't do the dorms.
LOVED this place. We had a private room and it was a cute little ensuite with private bath. It is in the forest and about 2 blocks from the center of the town. There is a bar at the end of the street which was great for us since the hostel atmosphere wasn't in the party mood while we were there. The hostel arranged all of our tours and transportation and was incredibly friendly and helpful. Definitely worth staying at. I recommend the night walk tour, zip line and coffee tour. Worth the money!
This place was great for us. We flew into San Jose around 7pm and had the hostel shuttle pick us up. The room was very simple with just a mattress on the floor and a desk in the corner. We were only at this hostel for 9 hours because we took the first public bus to Monteverde the next morning. The start of our trip went so smoothly because of this hostel. I recommend them if you are just needing a place to crash in between your flight and first bus.
This hostel was great. We went to a concert at the WaMu theater and it is only blocks away and there are bars nearby so no need for taxis. Basically, if you are in town for a show and just need a place to crash and shower, it is perfect. The room was basic and clean. It is a hostel, not a hotel. It reminded me of dorm life back in college. The area looks sketchy but it was totally fine and the building is secure. :o)
