Hostel Casa Marinamar

Santa Marta, Colombia

We had a great stay at this friendly hostel. The staff were excellent, always willing to answer questions and help with anything they could. The owner even gave us a lift to the bus in Santa Marta. Rooms were basic but clean with ceiling and floor fan, nice chill out areas with hammocks to escape the heat. Couple of blocks from the beach. Good place to stay around Santa Marta/Rodadero area.

Travellers Inn

Quito, Ecuador

We stayed at Traveller's Inn for four nights between various excursions and were always impressed with the service, cleanliness and homeliness of the place. Breakfast is excellent - fruits, croissants, bread, juice, yoghurt, coffee, eggs all served at your table. The rooms and bathrooms were kept spotless, wifi was available in the rooms even the separate ones at the back of the building. Service was always prompt and with a smile. Thanks for our stay!

Hostel Internacional Penitentes

Mendoza, Argentina

This hostel is not what you'd expect from the website. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a cosy wood cabin with common areas and a fire downstairs. Would probably get quite crowded with a full house but as there was no snow when we were there it was quite empty. The host is great and made us an awesome dinner and breakfast. Located right on the slopes.

Great hostel - perfect location (close to bus station and the river), clean, hot water, good breakfast and kitchen facilities, nice staff - made us caramelised tea and pastries after a cold day out at the ruins! Has to be the place to stay in Encarnacion.

We were a little worried about staying in a 'Favela' but as soon as Alessandro met us at the bottom of the stairs to show us the rest of the way to this little hostel we were reassured. The owners are lovely and welcome you into what is also their home with great breakfasts, great views and a bright, clean common area. A little hard to find - the motorbike 'taxis' at the bottom of the hill will take you to the bottom of the stairs - left, then right on the road. From there best to try calling.

Rio Nature Hostel

We have stayed in a lot of hostels and this experience would have to rate among the worst. We were in an 8 bed dorm which was partly occupied by members of the staff who generally showed no consideration for the guests - having a drunken argument at 2am and leaving the room dirty. Bathrooms were also unclean. Breakfast with the view from the balcony was the only positive.

Diep Anh and his wife are very friendly, helpful people. They will make sure you enjoy your stay in the city! Also, make sure you try out the fried banana from the lady in the street just outside!
