A Venice Fish

Venice, Italy

This is a very communal hostel. Big rooms with lots of people. But the staff is very respectful of the fact that people sleep, and close down the communal room at 12 and stress that people do sleep when traveling. The hostel is in an ideal locale, on a canal, and with a bunch of good restaurants and shops around. It is a good hostel to meet people, and everyone seems to be nice and the hostel is set up to make friends. For the price and location, it is worth it. A decently clean.

Euro Youth Hostel

Munich, Germany

Its clean, the bar is fantastic, the staff know their city, and it isn't too far from key Munich institutions. Definitely try the brewery a few blocks West!

Hotel Markus Sittikus

Salzburg, Austria

This is not for someone that is trying to look for a really cheap place. It is a hotel, a very nice one in fact. It is cozy, the rooms are small but homey. The place is impeccably spotless, and the staff are more than helpful. They pointed out the best areas for "kaiserschmarrn" and did point me in the right direction. It seems to be a little "out of the way" but it is not, as it is not even 5 minutes from the Mirabell Gardens and a nice market. Overall a good choice for a nice couple of nights

It was clean, quiet, is in a very neat building, and when you wake up you can walk across the street to a fantastic market. This was one of the better hostels I have stayed at, and would go back. The walking tour, bar, free drink!, and litttle shelves and outlets for all the beds are appreciated. They do some good work in Vienna!

Patio Hostel

Bratislava, Slovakia

Apparently there is a policy of no smokig, but I would like to comtest that. The room smelled pretty bad, and only worsened as the night progressed. If you have any plans of sleeping, or at least getting to bed before 2 or so, don't plan on it, as the doors serve no purpose for keeping noise out, along with the windows...but its cheap, and in a nice Pplocation, so I suppose its is some type of trade off. It's 'doable'.

Night and Day

Rome, Italy

The landlady is simply the bext. She puts the whole of Rome into one map for you, and knows the city very well. She is extremely accommodating. The food tips also helped, and lent me a really nice pasta dish the one night. Needless to say the owner is your Rome City Guide--very convenient and very helpful. The room itself was beautiful, with just enough room to set up marathon HQ out of it. It is not a matter of if, but when ill be back.

Youth Hostel Van Gogh (Chab)

Brussels, Belgium

Staff was very friendly, room was clean and about par for a hostel. Bar was cool and the little garden was great. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. Though some soap in upstairs bathrooms for washing ones hands would have been appreciated.

It was very clean, and in a very uniquely Koln neighborhood. Though a little pricey for the size of the room and facilities, I would stay there again.

Residence les Ecrins

Brussels, Belgium

Absolutely beautiful. Great view, great bed, and a room that was way too nice for 3 college kids. The staff were very friendly, and were a great time at breakfast. The location is really close to some great restaurants and bars, and is steps away from the Beguinage.

Hotel Sabina

Brussels, Belgium

It was ideally located, very accessible, though I must say the front door is a little tricky to open. The room was clean and the private bathroom was a big plus. I thought it was an overall great stay, and would do so again.
