The single room was very affordable and had a hot shower, the hostel is also well located in the heart of Thamel. It has a nice restaurant and a tour booking service.

Simon was great and made all of the guests feel at home. The dorm is cheap but you will spend money on tours, they are really the only way to see the park. The resort is helpful for advice and tour-bookings. The dorm is nice, the only downside is that the electricity cuts-out pretty frequently which makes the room very, very hot in the night, particularly when I was there which was the hottest time of year. There are always plenty of guests and a generally good atmosphere.

Perfect for a stopover. I got a private room which had air con and hot water. More importantly, the lady in charge was really kind and made me feel immediately comfortable and at home, wish I could have stayed longer!

My friends and I enjoyed our stay here, then we got weird, aggressive emails from a staff member for accidentally missing a booking the previous night (due to a missed bus). It was strange.

View Property Reply

Dear, you booked one night and you didn't show up. You got an info email but zero response. We was waiting for your arrival till midnight and you receive an email and we said "Thank you for keep us waiting!" So you mean thats aggressive? You send us an email that we have to think twice and that you had paid allegedly that night. No, you didn't paid and you didn't gave us any explanation upon check in. Thanks again. Lovely spot, a bit pricey for a backpacker budget. It's a dorm within a resort, but it is a very nice resort with a pool, sun loungers, and a gorgeous view of the beach. There's also lots of nice BBQ places down the road which is great for a cheap dinner.

This is a lovely spot but it's not really suitable for backpackers as you have to pay for everything, even water, and there's no kitchen. Plus all of the food and drinks are very expensive, even the Filipino options of which there are few. It's more of a resort feel, most of the guests are holidaymakers looking to see the whale sharks in Oslob. You can do activities independently if you hire a bike or take public transport, but you can't join tours from here.

Thank you for taking time writing your review! We try hard to make it the backpacker as comfortable as possible, we are trying to do things a little different. A higher quality bed with quality linen is quite simple but we don't stop there. About tours I would like to write the following: as traveling here in the south is fairly easy and accessible we encourage our guests to do the activities together or by themselves. Upon check-in we tell all the real prices of the activities and all the information to get there. In our experience most guests like this more then organized tours as there is more adventure and more freedom. You can always hire a private van with us when you like a bit more private or luxury in traveling. We keep on working to make things better for every guest! Thank you for staying with us and have a great journey.

It was a pleasure to stay at the nature lodge. The dorm room price was incredible considering the facilities including a huge cooked breakfast. The two ladies on reception were very friendly and helpful and the orangutan and bear sanctuaries are within walking distance. It's worth mentioning that this is a resort, rather than a hostel, so it doesn't have a kitchen for guest use, but it's the ideal place to stay while visiting the orangutans :)

When I arrived at Timur I was the only guest, and the host looked surprised to see me despite my booking. The set-up is simple, after having a shower I noticed insects in the mattresses and decided I didn't want to stay there so I packed up again and left. Dissapointing.

This guesthouse is fine for a stopover as it's well located near sentral for access to the airport. It is also at the start of the free bus route, go kl, and is right by Chinatown. However, the atmosphere was not great and the place is a bit unkempt and lacks buzzing communal areas. Admittedly I did arrive in low season so this may not be true year-round.

20th Apr 2016

My two friends and I enjoyed staying here. It was nice to be outside of the main town and near the beach. We visited out of season, and I imagine the experience is quite different in summer; it was very quiet but there were enough trips, bars and restaurants to keep us busy for the five days that we visited. The apartment itself was modest but comfortable. There is a double room and a third bed in the lounge, which does get light pretty early so it might be better suited to a couple.

Recently renovated, this hotel had a modern design and was very comfortable. I stayed in a four-bed female dorm and loved the little cubby bed. The wifi was quite good and the restaurant downstairs was also nice. The only disadvantage for me was the location of Bay Bridge, it was nicely situated on the water, so is a nice place for a retreat, but it is quite far from the station and there is not a lot to see in the local area. However, the hotel does run shuttle buses.

Great hostel; an oasis of calm in hectic Marrakesh. The hostel is deceptively large and has a pool and roof terraces. The staff are lovely and are happy to help you navigate the city. The location is also great and not too hard to find by medina standards!

I stayed in a single room while on a business trip and found the place immediately homely and comfortable. There were lots of school trips staying there when I was there which wasn't a problem for me and it was nice to see a real range of ages in the guests. The staff were lovely, I didn't have the chance to use many facilities but there seemed to be plenty on offer. The most important thing for me was location which was great, central and near lots of transport options.

We had a great time here and are keen to come back for a longer period and get a whole cabin with friends. It is a bit of a way to the city but it's a lovely campsite next to a forest so is nice if you want a different kind of Amsterdam holiday. One of the men on reception was very unhelpful however, and there's a rule about having to hand keys in before 8pm if you have an early flight which was really irritating as we had paid for that night and my flight wasn't until 7am.

Wish I could have stayed longer. Lots of thoughtful touches - such as free individual lockers - make all the difference. The atmosphere was very homely and the location is perfect if you want to stay in Old Town. Staff were chatty and friendly and prices are low. If I had to make a criticism then the beds are quite uncomfy, but when you're paying around ten pound a night, what can you expect. I don't think there was wifi, but there's loads of internet cafes around Edinburgh if you're desperate!

The lack of a fan or air conditioning in our small 4 bed room made it impossible to sleep and this was a main problem staying here. The staff were friendly but when we brought up our problem nothing was done. The self contained kitchens and living rooms with tvs are good but there is not much of a communal area to eat or drink in the evenings.

7th Dec 2011

I chose this hostel because it is advertised as a party hostel but probably because we stayed on weekdays there weren't any party nights organised apart from a few quiet drinks in the pub next door. The hostel accomodates a lot of people though so it is fairly easy to meet people and there are a common room and a dining room/kitchen area. The room smelt very bad and we saw a dead cockroach, this isn't unusual for hostels just that we expected a bit more for our buck. Good location in a fun area.

Although our room lacked a homely feel it was clean and good value for money. Chungking mansions is well located and my main criticism would be the lack of a communal area within the hostel making it hard to meet other travellers. The staff were very helpful and friendly and we had our own bathroom which was a bonus.
