Auckland is an odd place. It seems to be mostly people living in hostels while they work. I got put in a room with two old men in their 60s and one had household things with him (kettle, toaster, other weird stuff). They snored all night. It sucked. I asked to change rooms the second night and was told no. The toilets were a bit average, but usable. Ended up moving the second night to the one up on K Road which had a better atmosphere and was a bit smaller. Would not recommend for a solo person

Great location. Very easy to get to / from both airports. Seemed a bit hit and miss with atmosphere, but overall was good.

Big fan of this hostel. From the friendly staff to the friendly people you can meet. One disappointing thing is the basement bar has expensive drinks... they should make it cheaper so people want to come down and mingle. Of course you can just drink in the upstairs kitchen but...

was a last minute booking so i took what I could. has everything you need I suppose, but the beds in the dorm are rickety and its a guest house so you can get families staying. it's not the hostel's fault i was woken by a baby crying through paperthin walls... but hey it happened. met some cool people here though

Stay was great. Feel sorry for the owner though. We had a blackout caused by some sort of burst pipe and everyone had to leave the hostel and find new accommodation. But I guess that's Vietnam. Would otherwise recommend

The place was great. Very clean, met some nice people (was a solo traveller) and had a great time. One comment though, at night they close the toilet for 20mins for cleaning (i think it was 10pm). Don't get me wrong, I know toilets need cleaning and everything, but closing it and not giving people an option but to "hold it" is a bit rude. Imagine if someone had some bad intestinal bug and had to wait to go (and not given another option). Besides that... hostel was excellent. paid wifi sucks.

Thanks for making time to leave us a review. The cleaning schedule has been changed now to accommodate guests needs, Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The Wifi pricing is always coming down, and hopefully as the NZ structure changes, we will be able to offer this for free sometime in the future We hope that you will enjoy the rest of your time in NZ and see you back at The Attic soon Cheers The Attic team

Secure, nice place. The staff were excellent. I didn't have much washing so the guy threw it in with some sheets and did it free instead of charging me some little sum of money anyway. Theres a bar downstairs and decent breakfast.

The only annoying thing is they dont have mixed rooms (too many guys in a room gets stinky haha). Location and breakfast are great! The only annoying location problem is that the train and bus station are a bit out of town and not near each other. Wasn't many people here though

This place is amazing. The only annoying thing is that it is a 10minute bus ride from the city but everything else is perfect. With Ana's were amazing (except the one that called me retarded... but I probably deserved it - I got home after checkout on my last morning and missed breakfast but she still made me some!). The owner is also great
