Northfields Hostel

This place isn't too bad for a short stay. It has one problem, which can be considered quite a big problem - the hostel is situated right next to the overground train tracks so I would high recommend that if you're staying here, that you bring some good quality ear plugs. Noise aside, the place is decent for the money. Decor makes the place look run down, but it has the essentials - kitchen facilities, clean bed. I only stayed here one day - showers looked quite run down though.

The 18 bed dorms are good value for money for the price. There's actually more privacy than you'd expect for this arrangement as each bed takes the form of a cubicle with a curtain - similar to how capsule hotels work in Japan. The dorm room has its own shower room connected, and the hot water works well. The place is clean. Little cages under the bed allow you to lock your belongings if you have your own lock. Cool bar with atmosphere downstairs. Staff attitude could be better. Breakfast good.

Budget London Apartments

Decent place although a little pricey for dorm accommodation. However facilities are good. Good sized common room with TV and seats. Good kitchen facilities. Private toilets and showers instead of communal showers. Unfortunately wifi doesn't really work (they need to increase bandwidth). Also, although there are cleaners, the place can get quite dirty at certain times of the day, mainly because residents don't clean up after themselves.

Very basic. Only good thing is the location - next to Bayswater tube. To get to the rooms, you need to climb very steep narrow steps. Beds have no ladders and are frankly falling apart and creaky which makes it hard to sleep if the other person on the bunk moves. Cleanliness is barely acceptable. The whole place had a musty odour. Staff member working the morning shift was very rude to my brother - who contacted the hostel to see if I had checked in and was told - "Im not his secretary".

Little Hanoi Hostel

Excellent and friendly service. Clean rooms, breakfast included. They even reimbursed me money for the taxi ride from the airport since due to miscommunication I was unable to locate their shuttle service. Highly recommended, and will stay again next time I'm in hanoi. If you want to participate in tours, then this hostel offers all available opportunities. They will also organise your travel back to the train station free of charge. Overall, I can't fault anything about this place.
