City Circus Athens

Athens, Greece

This hostel was fantastic. I stayed in the four-bed female dorm with ensuite. The beds are super comfortable, there's air conditioning, there are big lockers, the bathroom was spotless, and the water was hot. There is a beautiful common area with a big table covered in books about Greece and Athens. The hostel has a kitchen that you can order food, coffee, beer, or cocktails from anytime. The included breakfast is delicious - granola, greek yogurt, fruit, honey, OJ, and coffee or tea.

Old Town Hostel

Dubrovnik, Croatia
91%

This was one of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed in. The location is in the middle of the Old Town in Dubrovnik, steps off the main street. The rooms are beautiful, big with high ceilings and large windows, and the beds are comfy. The bathrooms are usually extremely clean, and I never had a problem showering when I wanted to. There is a full-service kitchen. The staff was really helpful with information about airport transfers and day trips. All in all, i would definitely stay there again!

Apinelo Hostel

This was a great hostel. The location is 4-5 minutes east of the old town; the rooms, of which there aren't too many, are impeccably clean and have air-conditioning, not to mention big windows; the beds are comfortable and not squeaky; the staff is fantastic and super-helpful and have tons of information about onward connections and stuff to do. There's no real common space, but it's easy to meet people in the kitchen. All in all, I would definitely stay there again.

Tresor Hostel

Ljubljana, Slovenia

This hostel was great. Amazing location right near the main square, clean, and really friendly, helpful staff. The free breakfast was basic, but solid. The rooms are extremely hot and stuffy, and the beds are super squeaky, but honestly, if you take a shower right before you go to bed, you're all right to sleep. The rooms are really big, and the bathrooms are really modern and generally spotlessly clean. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Ljubljana.

Ace of Spades Hostel

I'd pass on this hostel. It's not well signed, so it's hard to find. The 4 person dorm was really small, cramped, and hot. The kitchen had a serious fly problem. The bathrooms smelled strongly of drain. Oh, and I got locked inside one because the handle fell off. The walls were paper thin, so you could hear every word spoken outside or in the hallway. And the front door was never locked, so anyone could just kind of walk on in at any time. You could use the washing machine for free though.

Pickwick Hall

London, England

This hostel was a great place to stay for one quiet night in London. I had just gotten off a transatlantic flight and had errands to run all day in London before taking off backpacking - my room at Pickwick Hall was ready when I arrived before check-in time, & I was able to have a hot shower and a quick nap before I set out. There were no bunk beds in my 4-person dorm room, just actual beds, which was great. There are no lockers, but there are safety deposit boxes upstairs you can use for a fee.
