Staff was neither friendly nor helpful, i.e. being told by several guests that two of the three (only!) available computers were not working and just shrugging it off. Asking about switching to a more expensive room for one night (in which I'd spend the ensuing nights anyway) they only offered it for double the price-difference, arguing that there's a discount for online reservations and the change would've been made locally. True to regulations but no friendly to customers i suppose.

This hostel is pricey - but it's absolutely worth it. Whether you're at the end of your trip and looking for a really comfy place to rest before you head home or just starting off and want to be at a place from where you can explore Bangkok and receive insider tips from the staff: This is your choice (budget permitting ;) ). Only downside: There is no nightlife in the vicinity, though the skytrain is close and taxis are cheap. We'd definitely go there again!
We read some bad reviews on this guesthouse on hostelworld.com but as the budget was tight we went there anyway - and boy, were we in for a surprise! The room was big and clean, same for the comfortable bed. Also the en suite bathroom left nothing to be desired. The staff must have read the bad reviews, as they were very friendly and helpful. One of the cheapest guesthouses we've stayed at on our 5-week-trip but at the same time on of the best!
You can get either lucky or very unlucky in this guesthouse. Lucky means that your room is clean and there's no fungus on the walls. Unlucky means that you want to spend as little time as absolutely necessary in your room. Either way, considering the prices it's good value for money as the location just opposite Khao San Road is great and the staff is extremly friendly. They run a nice Indian restaurant downstairs. If you're simply looking for a cheap place to sleep: This is it.
Very nice guesthouse that offers excellent value for money, clean and spacious rooms with nice beds. The bathroom was bigger than usual but water was dripping from the ceiling and the shower was weak. The staff was very friendly and helpful, everyone spoke english very well. They also provide tuk-tuk drivers who won't rip you off and wait outside the guesthouse for customers. Food was alright, portions were huge. Distance to market and pub st. was a tad too far for walking. Would go there again.
We loved our stay there and actually returned two more times on the same trip. However it's a bit strange and unnerving that only dorm beds can be reserved but no privates, so it's a bit of a gamble, especially as privates are only 2 dollars more a night per person if you're travelling as a couple. But if you're looking for a cool Hostel with a nice bar, friendly staff and want to be close to Casco Viejo, Luna's should definitely be your pick!
