Very nice atmosphere in this hostel, everyone around seemed to be friends, so it's probably a great place for backpackers who stay more then just the one day we did. It's well located (about 15 Minutes from central bus station and close enough to the city center). Our room was charming, however the bathrooms could use some renovation. Everything was quiet during the night. Wifi didn't work properly some of the time but was free. Towels could be borrowed for only one Pound each.

We had a good two night stay at Jacobs Inn. Friendly staff, great location (directly at main bus and train station and close to the city center and the major site), including multiple Super Markets. The bath room was a bit shabby, there were no lockers in the room and due to the trains there was some noise from about 8:00 - 0:00. Wifi is free but works only in the common room.

YHA London Oxford Street

Oxford Street is probably the best base for a visit in London and if you can get a cheap and freindly lokation there that is just awsome. Only downsides I noticed: Upper floor gets very hot in the summer and there is no elevator to the upper floors. And of course these unpractical English basins with separate taps for hot and cold (not in our room though (Toilets only).
