Nocknoy Lanexang Guesthouse, Luang Prabang, Laos
6.6
4th Jun 2016

I had a good stay here. A family runs this place, so as long as you don't mind a kid running and shouting around I'd definitely recommend this place. However, there were no lockers, luggage storage areas or locks on the door, so in terms of safety some improvements can be made here. Breakfast is amazing and would probably cost as much as the price of the room in any European restaurant.

Aoi Hostel, Chiang Mai, Thailand
7.1
1st Jun 2016

Decent place to stay in Chiang Mai. Good location, clean and above all safe, as everyone had their own room and locker keys. The hostess smokes about 1-2 packs of cigarettes a day in the reception area, making it feel like the smokers lounge at an airport. Not quite a welcoming smell for a non-smoker. I'd probably try a different place next time around!

Four Rivers B&B Mandalay, Mandalay, Myanmar
6.9
24th May 2016

After a disappointing experience in the Four Rivers in Yangon, I was pleasantly surprised by the Mandalay subsidiary. The staff here seems better apt to cater to the demands and expectations of western tourists. The 20-room dorm was fine. Everyone sleeps in "pods", so it doesn't feel so massive. Please grease the squeaky door, though!

I can't compare with other hostels in Bagan, but my stay here was absolutely excellent. Friendly and well-informed staff, good location and very clean and comfortable. Fork out those extra few euros to stay here, it's expensive, but this is the place to be.

Four Rivers Hostel, Yangon, Myanmar
6.0
20th May 2016

Although Myanmar people are hospitable and friendly, The Four Rivers seems to have put in its best effort to find the worst possible staff: they are unwelcoming, unfriendly and they seem to deeply hate their job and the customers. Other than that, it's a decent hostel and will provide the backpacker with what he/she needs for a stay in Yangon. Make sure to lower your expectations regarding the staff, and you'll have an excellent stay here.

Clean, very soft beds and conveniently located near the metro station. Nonetheless, I wouldn't stay here again, the hostess has a very neurotic and patronising personality, and she got into several quarrels with her guests. This didn't contribute to the atmosphere in the hostel.

Ferienhaus Hostel Salta, Salta, Argentina
6.3
8th Jul 2015

This place is alright if you're just looking to go out to party in Salta. When you get back home drunk you won't notice the stained bedsheets or the smell in the room, nor will you be disappointed by the level of service (the staff does their job, but no more than that). Good place to meet other typical gringos, but don't go here if you're looking for a more local experience.

Very international hostal, run by an English/Irish lady, who's very helpful and social with her guests. Location is great, and everything is very clean. This hostal is perfect for groups of young people who want to meet likeminded peers, less recommendable for young couples who want to enjoy a quiet place together.

This hostal is owned and run by a guy called Tarik, who will be your host during your stay. He's definitely someone who understands hospitality, and he'll do anything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The hostal itself is located perfectly in the medina, and not to hard to find. The room I'd say is normal: definitely nothing special. Good value for money, and with Tarik being your host, definitely a very recommandable plae for your stay in Fez.

We weren't too impressed by this hostal. Although the room was relatively clean, the bathrooms weren't, also, they seemed to be cronically out of toilet paper. Staff wasn't overly friendly nor helpful in finding our way around in Marrakech. This place is good value for money, but don't expect anything else.

The Midland Hostel, Bucharest, Romania
6.9
3rd Apr 2014

Although our experience in the Midland hostal was good, I cannot say that its high ranking in HostelWorld really corresponded to what we've seen. There were only 2 plugs in an 8-person room, the doors were always open and the showers/bathrooms looked very improvised. Also, the location is definitely not as good as the rating suggests.

Hey guys, we're glad you had a good experience with us. Location obviously depends on what you're looking for - if what you want is only to see the bars of Lipscani, yeah, we're 15 minutes away by foot, but there are better places nearby like Eden (currently the hottest club in town), Molotov, and A1 very close. If you're looking for the whole package of Bucharest, we are definitely in the center, with museums (art, peasant, etc), Cismigiu Park, and train station all within an easy walk.

Very nice hotel, every room has a theme (a city in Nicaragua) and all common areas are painted with sceneric country sites and elements of Nicaraguan culture. Very nice, friendly and helpful staff. Unlike in many other places, they care about the satisfaction of their guests. Excellent breakfast in the morning. However, we were surprised that we had to pay for the laundry service, this is not included in the price.

A very relaxing hostal, nice common terrace with hammacks. The staff was friendly and the food was good. The room was nice, and with the klamboe and partialy open roof it felt a bit like camping (not a downside for us!). However, getting here is quite a hassle. It takes at least 3 hours by bus from the little town where the boat arrives. Taxis take about 1.5 hours but charge 35-45 dollars. Take this into account when planning your trip here.

Value for money. Definitely recommendable. The hotel is located right next to the metro stop and a MacDonalds. The room and the bathroom were clean. The staff, two elderly people, were really friendly. I am not sure if they speak English because we spoke Spanish to them. The lady replied in a mixture of French, Portugese, Spanish and Catalan. I guess it's fair to say that they do speak their languages! The only downside I can think of was the noice at night.
