The best hostel we've been to on our trip. It is actually a guest house where the host and his whole family lives (in the separate part) ... and this is the best about it. you can really feel the atmosphere of Japanese home. Big rooms and garden shower are the best assets of this hostel. Best place to stay in Kyoto, a little bit far from city but the train is fast and the neighbourhood it nice, lots of shops and places to eat.
The only hostel we've stayed that has automatic vending machne with sodas and beer and some instant food - really useful stuff. Very clean, very new and fresh. Very small rooms though and little bit expensive but it's good value for money as the host has invested really a lot of resources in building the interior up to high standart without loosing any of the Japanese character that this place should have. Very nice common area, interesting time-killers offered by the host, downside - A/C fee.
Grate place to stay. Place looks like hotel adapted to hostel. We had a ensuite room, really big. Very nice and HLEPFUL staf, Definitely one of the best places we stayed during our Japan trip. Weather was perfect as well. Great atmposphere and facilities. Not the newest interior but very well maintained and that makes the trick - great Japanese experience. And the city is astonishing, not very big, very beautiful, may placese to see, great and sad history.
We stayed in Tokyo for only 3 nights. Very good email responsivness, good location. Clean and neat hostel. ...poor rating in our opinion because of complete lack of atmosphere. This place is good only for sleeping at night and frankly not much more. Our overall staifsaction though would be somewhere around 70% but in terms of what I call 'local-specific experience'... it's distinctly average - clean place to sleep - that's all.
