Considering standard London room rates, this was probably very good value for money, especially as there was a generous breakfast included! The reception staff were also very nice and the campus is located nicely by the canal and close to public transports and supermarkets etc (although cooking your own food is impossible as the kitchens have no plates, pots, cutlery etc: this would be worth knowing in advance!) Definitely a good option if you want some privacy for your stay!

Salmon Weir Hostel

Rooms are tiny and anyone can walk in there as there are no locks, but the hostel is nice and cozy and has good facilities (including a guitar and a DVD collection). It's easy to get to know people if that's what you're after!

Great location: very close to O'Connell Street. The rooms are big and there is a very nice, atmospheric common room area on the ground floor (with free internet access). Our only negative experience was showering: the water was alternately boiling hot and freezing cold, a pity really...

Abercorn House Hostel

The hostel is well located and seems safe. It was also incredibly clean when we stayed, but this is probably why it also seemed quite STERILE (no pictures, no colours, no atmposphere...) Also, the showers were only lukewarm (temperature could not be adjusted) and there was nowhere to put clothes etc., there were no lockers anywhere in the hostel (We felt very nervous about leaving everything in the room!) and the rooms had no bins. But definitely recommendable for short-stay guests!
