Very good hostel. The staff is very kind and helpful, facilities are slightly above average. Breakfast is very basic (though I've seen worst), perhaps they could throw in some yogurt, cereal and cheese. Location is tricky: all the cool places in Vila Madalena are at least 10 - 15 minutes away, however, if you chose to stay closer to them, you would have to walk that same route each time you wanted to take the subway, which is when Hey Hostel has the advantage.

This could have been an overall better experience, but the little details were hard to ignore. We had to change rooms because the AC in ours was broken (yes, things break, but they knew it, and threw us in there anyway). The showers gave shock, the toilets were awkwardly placed and uncomfortable to use, the AC units dripped water in the hall, and the dining room flooded with rain. The cleaning staff (who handled breakfast) was very helpful and kind. Recommended if no other options are available.

The staff was very helpful and kind, the hostel has a great location downtown. Didn't care for the fact that you had to make your own bed (never had happened to me before) and the infraestructure private bathroom of our 8-bed bedroom was improvised, to say the least. The rest of bathroom (shared ones), were good.
