Free breakfast is only pancakes but they are all you can eat. It's easy to walk from the hostel downtown and to all the museums. Security is excellent.

Location is within walking distance of the inner harbour and shops. Great security with codes on the front door and all the rooms. The air con was old and noisy but I just used earplugs which are free. Would come back.

Love it here. Each dorm has different artwork all over the walls. You need your room key to get into the building. Free breakfast and wifi which is great. Location is awesome, you can pretty much walk anywhere from it without too much hassle. It was really hot when I arrived and no air con but each room had a fan so it wasn't an issue. Loads of cheap food nearby.

Weirdest hostel I've stayed in on my year long travels. The location was excellent, right downtown and easy to get to the rest of the city. The room itself seemed to be an old hotel suite where they had just added bunks. It was really well equipped though with a little kitchen, en-suite bathroom and personal lockers. Would stay there again, but just for a night or two.

Just a few blocks from Union Square and loads of transport links to get anywhere in the city. There is a free activity every night and free breakfast every morning with a pretty good selection. Staff were nice and helpful when I asked them for things. Really liked the beds with privacy curtains and personal power/light/locker with power inside - nice touch. Would recommend!

Only a two minute walk from the sights of Hollywood and loads of places to eat. The staff were really helpful and helped my book onward travel. The bar area was awesome and the en-suite rooms were cleaned every day. Daily activities and pub crawls to sign up for and free breakfast which was really good! One of the best hostels I've stayed in, and I've been traveling for a year. Definitely recommended.

I stayed here each time I was in Auckland. Excellent location - walking distance to shops, museums, ferry, harbor, food, etc. The bathrooms were a bit gross if you got to them before they are cleaned but other than that, pretty good all round. It was cold in the rooms - no radiators or heaters available so I used two duvets.

Hi there, thank you very much for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Unfortunately it does get quite cold at night even in Auckland so we hope the second blanket helped you to stay warm! We would love to see you again some time soon. Thanks Nomads Auckland Management

Loved my stay here! The hostel is right opposite the beach and is within walking distance of cafes and shops. Tisa knows everything about the island and what is going on each night and will book activities for you. Especially loved the international cooling night, great way to make friends! Sometimes the shower was cold but you're in the South Pacific, so it doesn't matter! Will definitely come again!

Stayed on the 2nd floor where the bathrooms are not great, They are cleaned every day but there was no soap by the sinks and the showers always looked a bit grubby. Location is excellent, within walking distance of the habour, the skytower and the main shopping areas of Queens Street and High Street. The staff are friendly but if you want information on the city, go to the travel shop next door.

Loved it here! I only stayed two nights but got a free shuttle into town, a free BBQ and my room was upgraded. Staff are so lovely, really care that you're a backpacker and try to help you out as best as they can. Very close to the beach and town.

Cloud 9 Backpackers Resort

Cloud 9 was ok, in a good location easy walking distance to town and friendly staff. The rooms were always clean. Bad points: because of the bar next door (which charges $10/$15 entrance even if you're staying there) you cannot drink your own alcohol on the premises and other than the kitchen/run down DVD room with 5 seats, there is nowhere for people to hang out. The atmosphere wasn't great and people tended to go down to the park and drink there.

Rucksack Inn @ Lavender Street

The location of this hostel is not ideal. There isn't much to do around the hostel so you have to take a taxi/bus/the MRT to find something to do. The atmosphere at the hotel is very chilled out. If you want to go there to sleep however, you will be disappointed. The room had 14 beds in it so there were people moving around and turning the lights on all night. Having said that, the staff were really helpful and friendly and the dorms and showers/toilets were really clean.
