Maybe the best value hostel in the world. Considering the price includes breakfast and free beer for an hour every night this is tough to beat. Small, valuables locker provided for each person in the room. Showers are hot and fairly clean. Only knock is front desk is really pushy on selling tours and tickets.

Perfect location and great price for this place. There is no atmosphere for mingling with other travelers unless you hangout in the actual dorm room but you'll meet plenty of travelers on the streets so don't worry about that. Staff are mixed. The one younger girl speaks good english and is very helpful. The others do not speak English and would prefer if you didn't wake them from their nap on the sofa to do things like help you call a guesthouse in another town for a reservation.

Chose this hostel based on a fun advertisement in a magazine. Although there are lots of backpackers staying here, it lacked heavily in atmosphere. This is probably because A) it's a good walk to anything including food and bars B) the pool and bar "on property" are actually down the road and even guests pay a fee. Despite the atmosphere and location it was a very comfortable stay and the place was very clean.

Thank you for staying with us at Deejai for one night in January, and we are sorry that of the other 130 guests there at the time you were unable to see the social side to the hostel. As regards to the location of the hostel in relation to our pool and the other local amenities we do clearly state this in our Hostelworld introduction, which of course you are free to do. Happy travelling from the Deejai teem.

Had the best shower of my traveling life here! Free wifi was also a huge bonus! Massive clean kitchen was great! Location is good for walking to the beach. There are no grocery stores or bottle stores nearby but the free shuttle covers that. Only minor problem is that the staff are sooo busy cleaning and running the shuttle there are many times where nobody is present at reception. Great value!

I like this hostel a lot. There is a lot of space to hang out, eat, cook, or do whatever. The facilities are clean and the staff are friendly. The chili dinner is a huge bonus! Only down sides are that you can't bring your own alcohol and the bed was a bit squeaky. Great value.

This hostel was a comfortable and clean place to stay. It was a bonus to have free wifi though the system seemed unnecessarily complicated and the staff seemed really burdened to give me a log-in. The location is good but not great, it's a bit of a walk to all the sights of Wellington. Overall a refreshing break from the party hostel scene which makes up most of NZ.

Great location and great layout. Really enjoyed our stay. Kitchen is well equipped and spacious enough for several people but there is also the chili dinner every night if you don't want to cook and its pretty good. Staff were super helpful with booking excursions. Only downside for me was the lack of atmosphere. You can't bring in booze because it has a bar attached but the bar could use some livening up.

This hostel was decent enough. The price was good and it came with free wifi and a kitchen. Security was lacking though since anybody could walk in at any time and my room door wouldn't seem to lock. Also the guy at check-in was pretty cold and never seemed to be around.

Great hostel. Very comfortable beds and common area. Spacious and equipped kitchen. Staff are super helpful. Nakedbus stops at the driveway. Only problem is Waitomo has literally nothing in it aside from caves.

Party Hostel! If you are looking for a wild backpacker hostel with clean rooms and decent facilities this is your place. Staff are cool. Only problem is the internet scheme is ridiculous. $3 for 1 hour? C'mon!

Clean rooms, great staff, nice terrace. Breakfast is also satisfying with eggs, bread, and veggies. Shower could use some updates but that seems typical of hostels in this region. Only down side is dodging the carpet salesmen and restaurant hosts in this neighborhood.

Great location and friendly staff. Breakfast is sufficient. Sleeping in the cave is very quiet and comfortable. Only issue I had is that the shower is the WC. So if someone showers the entire room is soaked until it dries. Also walking outside from room to shower is cold!

Fantastic Place! You must stay here! George is the most hospitable person I've ever met. The rooms are clean and comfy, and having a balcony was nice too. Pool is very clean and bar is party ready. The central location to village is key too. Only a short walk to mylopotas beach. Would recommend to anyone.

The location and staff make this place a steal. Really enjoyed the super short walks to sights and also just hanging out with the staff at this place. Beds a little wobbly but comfy and clean. Showers were good once the water heater was fixed. The water heater broke the day we arrived so only cold water for 2 days but hard to get mad since the staff were trying hard to fix it. Would stay again.

Don't recommend! From the moment I arrived I felt swindled. I reserved a 2 person private and upon arrival (including a bus fare from the train station), was told that my room was back by the train station, nowhere near the old city. But I could pay an additional €3.5 per person per night to stay in the actual hostel in old city. Additionally, they will try to sell you a shuttle service to sights which is 4x the price of a bus. Worst mattress ever

Comfy beds, decently clean bathrooms with plenty of showers. Not enough lockers in rooms but feels safe enough. Staff are great, very helpful. Saw one staff turn away a walk-in because he seemed too dodgy. I like this since it shows good security. Friday night barbecues are great. Great place to meet other travelers in the common areas. Neighborhood is more Czech and less touristy, but only a 10 min walk to attractions. Will stay again if I go back to Prague

Great hostel! Right next to train/bus station. Easy walk to old city. Brand new and very clean! Great staff. Only thing that could be better is free coffee/tea. Paying €0.50 for a cup of hot water to make tea is a low blow. Otherwise a great place all around. If you are in a 6-bed try to arrive early and snag one of the two real beds! The bunks are good too though, very sturdy so no squeaking or shaking.

This place was disappointing. It's one thing to save money by staying outside the city at a campground, you get what you pay for in terms of convenience. Location aside, the staff here were horrible. Gave me attitude whenever I had a question. Not running the shuttle back and forth during middle of the day is also massively inconvenient. Considering the price I might consider going back but dealing with horrible staff really ruins a trip.

Highly recommend this place! The hostel is in a good neighborhood right next to Fiorentina football stadium. Rooms are comfortable and bathrooms were clean compared to other places I've stayed. It is very quiet in the building but the courtyard has music and a bar every night if you want to hang with other travelers. Staff are super and dinner buffet was best value I've seen. Only knock is its a 30 min walk to city center (or 10 min bus), recommend the walk though bc there is lots to see.

Great option considering the rest of Napoli. Free breakfast is nice and dinner and drink options are good as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The lounge is great for chilling out or watching football. You are a 20 min walk from the old town but you don't want to be any closer, Napoli gets real sketchy at night. The Metro is also an option if you don't want to walk but the trains are slow and infrequent so I preferred just o walk off my pizza!

PLUS Camping Roma

Rome, Italy

This hostel is a great option if you are looking to save money in Rome. The facilities are average at best and smell aweful, the staff are not friendly at all, and it's a 30 min journey by crowded bus then metro to any sights, but it's cheap and comfortable. There are no kitchens but there is a market on site and a supermarket across the street. You can get creative like we did and eat things that don't need cooking. Can be tricky on the bus the first time but just follow the crowd.

One of the best social hostels I've seen! This hostel is only feet from the train station which is great for arriving and day trips. Also it's 10 min walk to the beach but its an easy walk since its right down the main shopping and cafe strip. Also the pasta dinners and champagne parties are legit. Serious fun! You will enjoy yourself here. Staff is also very friendly and always accessible, even when I needed to check out at 4am for my train it was no problem. Only problem...bathrooms dirty.

Great hostel in a great city. Hostel was very comfortable and staff was very helpful. Only downsides were there was not a very social atmosphere and the kitchen had only on cooking surface. Plenty of cheap eats nearby though so cooking isn't necessary.

This is a hostel for very active people. Most of the people staying there are in town for cycling trips. The hostel is good for socializing since the wifi only works in the common area. Kitchen is too small for the number of beds so expect havoc around meal time. Too few showers as well. Breakfast was very basic: white toast and cereal.

One of the most fun and laid back hostels I've seen! We have been in cities for the past 3 weeks and needed a change of scenery. Lucky Lake was perfect! It's on a lake where tons of locals go to swim and relax. Great facilities. Check it out.

Oxford Backpackers Hostel

This a good location, although it should be said that there is no such thing as a bad location in Oxford. The staff were friendly and helpful but when we rebooked for a second night the person at the desk didn't tell us that it was £15 more expensive to rebook at the desk instead of doing it online. Disappointing. Facilities were good and people seemed to hang out quite a bit in the common room.

The Green Man is a great value considering the price and location. The only issue us that at night with the windows open it can be near impossible to sleep. Directly across the street is a police station and hospital so sirens blare non stop. I recommend some zzzQuil, a couple pints, and ear plugs if you want to sleep.

Hlemmur Square

Reykjavik, Iceland

Ok hostel, Good staff, Great location. Hlemmur Square is right next to a bus station and a short walk from all the bars and restaurants. You won't mind the walk when you see how wild Laugavegur can get. A little distance is good. The hostel is very basic so for the price I'm not sure it's worth it. Wifi was spotty as well. Only real perk was that each bed had a massive, lockable drawer to put an entire backpack into for safe keeping.

Te Anau Lakefront Backpackers

Te Anau, New Zealand
60%

Te Anau Lakefront Backpackers has a nice location across the road from the lake and just a short walk from the town center. The room was cozy enough but the shower would not generate any hot water which makes for a poor hygenic experience in cold weather. Also, the toilets take exceptionally long to refill with water after flushing. This may not seem like a big deal, but when traveling with a group of 4 it can become a small nuisance to have to wait 5 minutes between flushings.

Nomads Queenstown

Queenstown, New Zealand
100%

Nomads is definitely the hot spot to stay in Queenstown. The staff are very energetic, as are the travellers who stay there. The facilities are clean and secure. The only knock on Nomads is that its prime location above the bars of Queenstown can lead to a difficult time sleeping if you choose to hit the sack before the 4am closing time.

Hey, thanks for the awesome feedback. Delighted you had a great stay with us. We have been monitoring the noise levels around the hostel at night time and making sure they are compliant with the noise regulations in town. We do also offer free earplugs from reception for light sleepers! Hope you can come back and stay with us again. Cheers, The Nomads Crew

Global Village Backpacker is the total backpacker experience. The hostel is fantastically decorated and maintained. The facilities are clean and in great working order. The location is kind of poor but thats more of a knock on Greymouth than it is Global Village.
