A clean and comfortable hostel located close to a metro line and lots of shops / street food vendors. The dorm rooms could do with a new layer of paint as it was looking quite tired. It is a little out of the centre of the city so you have to spend a bit of time getting to the main places. They offer plenty of tours, but with a choice of Chinese or English tours (the English tours being substantially more expensive but smaller with lunch generally included).

Han Tang Inn Hostel

Xi'an, China

A very good location, just a 5 minute walk to the Bell Tower. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are lots of activites / tours which you can do to socialise with other hostel goers at affordable prices (although the prices quoted online are unaccurate, as is the trip to Huashan - which they don't do anymore). The pillows were a negative for me as they were very uncomfortable. The sercurity lockers needed new latches, as only 3 out of the 6 in the dorm were usable.

Great tours, food and activities on offer with the hostel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Would reccomend to anyone staying in Beijing in the future. Thankfully they had heaters in the bedrooms as the winters are bitterly cold!

Apple Hostel

Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Excellent location in Kowloon, pity about the wait for the elevator up. Very helpful staff and friendly too.

Marko Polo

Dubrovnik, Croatia

There is a bit of a walk down to the old city (approx 15mins) with lots of steps. Rooms are basic, but nice (chance of a nice view). No air conditioning, so can be very hot. There is no kitchen so you have to go to the main floor and ask to put things in their fridge. Take the number 3 bus to their place from the station, as it is much to far to walk and taxis are too expensive. The older staff speak very little and basic English, but are still friendly and helpful. Beware of insect bites.

Hostel D&D

Split, Croatia

We were promised a room with a kitchen and washing facilities in the main hostel, instead we stayed at the sub hostel which was part of another lady's house. Although she was very kind and showed us the best value for money restaurant (buffet Fife) and offered to do our washing for us, there was none of the facilities we were promised on the site. It was still in a good location and would have been better than the main hostel if the utilities were available for us to use without feeling guilty.

Apartment Sanja

Plitvice Lakes, Croatia

Very handy location, just a 5 minute walk to the lakes through the woods, also close to a shop for food items. The staff were very helpful and friendly. No complaints.

Cosy Arty Flat

Ljubljana, Slovenia

Only a 15 minutes from the bus and train station by foot and even less to the centre of the city. Luka was a very friendly host and had fresh cherries from the market for us. I recommend taking the sites and locations he suggests for visits, as he was very correct. Piran was a beautiful town. There was a slight ant infestation when we were there, but it was subsiding by the time we left.
