Moafrika Backpackers

Johannesburg, South Africa

This place is more or less a launching ground for the safari tours that Mo'Afrika runs. It is NOT a good place for backpackers to stay and see a bit of Johannesburg. Getting into town or traveling to see any of the sites (like the Apartheid museum, for example) is quite an ordeal, and can be quite expensive. Because this "lodge" is so far away from the city (and stores, other restaurants, etc.), you need to eat the food that they serve, which, during my brief stay, was not very good.

Atlantic Point Backpackers

Cape Town, South Africa

All of the staff are very friendly and excited to get everyone in the hostel to experience Cape Town as much as possible. I would definitely stay here again.

Ciao Hostel

Florence, Italy

Nice place, but not a "hostel-style" atmosphere.

Art Hostel

Naples, Italy

Booking a bed in the 10-bed mixed dorm gives you access to literally 1 closet of a bathroom, meaning you almost always have to compete to use it. I didn't even try to take a shower, but it didn't look promising. The internet only works if you're sitting on one of two chairs near the front desk, which is a shame because there is a decent patio. The woman working the front desk during the daytime was decently friendly and helpful, but the guy working at night was useless.

Naples Pizza Hostel

Naples, Italy

The best parts about this hostel are the location and the staff. It's just off of Via Tribunali, which is one of the most interesting places in Napoli. The staff are very very friendly and happy to help you make plans for your stay in Napoli. The 24 hour desk person is a great bonus. Free, decently fast wifi and clean bathrooms and a kitchen are bonuses. The breakfast is enough to get you going in the morning. The main drawback is the strange noises keeping you up all night.

Hostel 7 Santi

Florence, Italy

This is a great, very large hostel in Florence. The all you can eat dinner buffet is definitely worth it (excellent pasta!), and it's pretty close to the Campo di Marte train station, which isn't very well connected but you can take a train from there to bigger station, San Maria Novella. I would definitely recommend staying here while in Florence.

Malpensa House

Malpensa, Italy

Cardano al Campo is a lovely community. The hostel is much better than staying in a major hotel and at a much better price.
