stayed here in the off season. wasn't as social as i'd hoped as a result. nice hostel, staff were pleasant and mainly helpful. breakfast was included and is ok. is close to Bratislava castle and the novy most bus station (useful if travelling to/from Vienna). relatively cheap even with the €1.60 tourist tax charge. would stay here again.
stayed here once before, and would stay here again. social without being a party hostel. isn't a poshtel, has a good atmosphere, a kitchen and a bar. staff are friendly and helpful. my kinda place. thank you
have mixed opinion of Brxxl city hostel. is basically a hotel with bunk beds. rooms are nice, en suite and bathrooms get cleaned every day with toilet roll and shower gel. common room can become a bit of a laptop/smartphone/tablet party. could do with either a kitchen or a bar/cafe to buy food and drink. is close to gare du midi (Eurostar) station, though the area around the hostel at night is a little dodgy. staff were ok and happy to accept feedback. found the Swedish girl to be friendly!
Stayed here for a night due to the tube strike. Dutch chap on reception was friendly; bed was comfortable and locker was big. Breakfast was free but a bit limited. Liked the rooftop terrace area aswell. Lots of Aussies here! Weren't many Bathrooms. Was woken up by a couple of drunk guests. Otherwise good.
enjoyed stay here. really liked the bar and relatively cheap drinks. room was nice, new and bed was comfortable. cons: paying for breakfast; couldn't change temperature on the shower
have stayed here before and would stay here again. clean, relatively quiet. Like the outside bar/smoking area. Lost my ID before arriving which wasn't a problem.
Really liked the atmosphere here. Hostel is run by a brother and sister who are both nice and helpful. Went to a football game with the owner and about 10 other hostel goers. Had a free beer on arrival but unfortunately no free salsa class as advertised. Did have private 1 on 1 Cali style salsa classes which were excellent and well worth the money spent. Room was em suite with a bathroom but didn't have a door as such so was a bit noisy trying to sleep at times. Overall recommended!
nice hostel well located in Cusco. Lots of facilities and activities within the hostel during most. Enjoyed the barbeque and football tennis tournament. Dorms were a good size and beds comfortable. Bar had a good food menu. Only downside as a solo traveller was i felt a bit lost among groups of travellers and didn't find it easy to approach/meet and chat to others, due to the layout of the hostel. And just to clarify, i am a chatty person!
liked it here. found it easy to meet people. rooftop bar was good too. 8 bed dorm was a little small when full. breakfast ok; good location.
enjoyed my stay here. was quiet; room was spacious. a few minutes walk to the main street in Pipa with plenty of cafes and restaurants.
there was an unfortunate incident at the hostel that tarnished my experience here. the hostel seemed to attract a really nice group of people that made the overall experience good. the bathrooms need to be refurbished; the provision of breakfast was a bit hit and miss depending on which day you had it. rooms were spacious and lockers big. had a meal made by the hostel where costs were split; was a nice touch. sarah and henry were really helpful and nice throughout. wasnt keen on the owner
relaxed hostel; found lots of locals stayed here. some long termers too. didnt really meet that many people in part to language barrier. the cat is cute.
enjoyed my stay here. close to 159 bus stop which runs 24 hours a day, and Lambeth North tube station. 12 bed dorm room and bed were both fine, breakfast was plentiful, staff were good and friendly, though as always some were more helpful than others. hostel is basically a pub with rooms above it; so the pub was essentially the common room area and the bar. Is good and bad; thankfully it didn't get rowdy at any point. will stay here again
Good hostel. Dario is helpful as the host. Good location by the river. Was quiet as midweek but rooms were spacious, had public computer and decent breakfast.
Ok. The blond chap is possibly one of the most helpful staff members I have come across. Got a free breakfast before checking in, was invited to a game of 5 a side football with some of his friends, gave me a free bottle of water when I was unwell, and has helped to find my lost laundry! Plus, any place that has both chess, table tennis AND a pool deserves recognition. Close to amenities and bus station. Would have liked a kitchen to cook in here but that's only gripe! Would stay here again!
Took me a while to find from the bus station; once I did I Enjoyed my stay here. Very relaxed. Cheap and relatively close to amenities. Staff and other hostel guests both made it a good experience. Pool is always kept clean here aswell.
Stay here was enjoyable. Was in 10 bed dorm. Comfy beds; lockers were repaired while I was there. Stayed longer as was happy there though room was a touch expensive compared to other hostels I'd stayed in Brazil. Breakfast was ok; staff were overall friendly and helpful. Particularly found the owner and chap with a beard to be nice. Lacked a common room, though there are seats available in common areas by the reception and on the terrace by the kitchen and spa. Area Is safe and close to shops
9 bed dorm was cramped; had top bunk of 3 which barely had headroom. Didn't seem to be a huge amount of security with the main door open most of the time. The location was excellent. Close to the beach and restaurants. Atmosphere was really chilled and nice though found some staff to be more accommodating than others. Peruvian guy on reception was particularly cool, as was Brazilian girl. 15 min walk from bus station with lots of shops on the way. If I stay here again would stay in 6 bed dorm
this hostel could do with a pool! bar and common room area were really hot and lacked ventilation. free breakfast was plentiful. 2 for 1 caiparinhas at the bar between 7pm and 8pm was good, though was a shame it closed at 11pm weekdays. found staff to be a bit hit and miss. rooms were decent, comfy bets (relative to hostels); location is in Lapa close to bars and clubs. particularly great at the weekend. bit of a journey to get to the beaches. overall good.
staff were great here. welcoming and helpful. stayed over new years here. was a touch pricey for the dorm, but that is the only gripe i have. breakfast here was enjoyable, terrace was good with a small pool of sorts, which was great for keeping cool in the heat. beds were very comfortable aswell
freshly squeezed juice here served for breakfast is AMAZING! amongst other things. was a nice cozy hostel perfect for Christmas time. cheese and wine evening and special Christmas breakfast were organised by the hostel, both of which were enjoyable.
stayed 2 nights in the dorm, mainly to experience a hostel with a pool. wasnt disappointed, staff were overall friendly and mainly spoke English. The day i arrived there was an enjoyable BBQ for 5000 chilean pesos, and was well worth the money in my view. the dorm was spacious, had lockers, wifi connection was a bit hit and miss depending on where in the hostel you were. breakfast wasnt part of the price, though breakfast items were individually priced. enjoyable
Stayed in a single room, unique for me! Room could do with a spare key, as was locked out for about 20 minutes prior to my departure. Front lock of Urquiza house could do with changing though I found out small earthquakes moved it a bit over time. Owners were nice and helpful. Had barbeque and pisco sour on first night at hostel for free. Was Social but not party. Joschke who works at the other building is helpful aswell. Area is cool. Great if you love street art. Enjoyed stay here
Breakfast was really good. Terrace is beautiful particularly in evening with view of nearby bars and street bands playing. Bit annoying with wifi only being available on rooftop terrace but that was only minor gripe. Place was sold out so couldn't stay a 2nd night unfortunately.
Great selection of films to watch. Plenty of sports to watch in tv. Breakfast was coffee tea cake and homemade bread. Location was good close to main shopping area. Terrace was best place for socialising in evenings. Enjoyed half day wine tour by minibus booked through the hostel. Owner of hostel was very friendly aswell. Wasn't a problem to stay longer than I'd anticipated either!
I'm happy here. Arrived a day late but contacted hostel and didn't affect my booking. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast is ok, rooftop terrace is nice. Cambio snack place and supermarket nearby. Staff are cool aswell. Eugene is a bit of a classic rock fan so expect a bit of the Stones and ACDC. And is a River fan. Booked extra days after arriving and got a 10% discount.
Found the rooms needed a refurbishment. Was moved rooms at little notice aswell. Otherwise was a really good social place to stay. Lots of freebies such as free Spanish class on Monday and tango class on Saturday. Barbeque evening on the terrace was also good for social and food experience. Staff were useful for information about going to football matches aswell. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby aswell. Is a couple of blocks from the metro aswell.
the staff were really helpful, particularly girl from Ankara, who was very knowledgeable about the area, Alex, who helped when i had a random allergic reaction, and the Vancouver chap i saw a few times serving breakfast. Loved location, was in the middle of a street with bars and restaurants. also a food market nearby. breakfast was good. bit of a journey to get to the top for common room area, but nice once you got there!
Really good socially here. Lots of locals frequented the bar in evenings so was great to meet some locals and travellers aswell. Breakfast was really good and location great. Bordered on being a party hostel and as a result didn't feel quite at home here. Overall glad I stayed here.
Location was a bit out. Found the staff great and the dog was amusing chasing after it's own tail. Breakfast is coffee or tea with a prepared roll or apple pie so basic but enjoyable. Could have stayed here longer, felt really cosy. Wasn't brilliant socially but think that was because it was the off season; it didn't affect my experience. Can get pizza delivery from nearby place. Supermarket and ATM are about 10 mins away. Had taxi organised to take me to airport aswell on 2nd visit. Recommended
Only stayed here 1 night due to time constraints but could happily have stayed here longer. They have sky sports in the common room. The owner seemed to love football, which helped as I do. The breakfast is included. Wifi works all around the hostel. Loved the balcony area. A touch tricky to find but managed to get the spray painted signs nearby. If I'm in ohrid again I will stay here
The owner was really helpful and more than willing to suggest places to go and things to see but also appeared to be a touch confrontational if you didn't agree with certain things. Breakfast included. Is about a 15 min walk from the centre but plenty of food options ATMs an supermarkets are nearby. No lockers In rooms but didn't feel like belongings were in danger. Balcony area was good for socialising. Overall enjoyable
booked 3 nights here, got a 4th night for free. good times! they like rakia nights here. dorms are in a seperate building to the main reception area, and common room. staff were helpful. room was small but had lockers and enough space to manouevre around. decor was in keeping with the local area, which was nice too. location cant really fault.
family run hostel. free pick up from bus station didnt happen, got 2 free samples of rakia on 1st day. wasnt complaining. wifi was a bit hit and miss, but the owner was LOVELY! breakfast is a must. the lady doesn"t want you to stop eating. is a little journey to the old town, but supermarkets and atms are nearby. watched the Croatia match whilst trying local food snacks made by the owner. the sons were friendly aswell.
the owner was like a mother to all of us. the resident cat was amusing. home made breakfast part of the price and was different every day. had a day long tour which was enjoyable but tiring. saw beautiful waterfalls, a castle, and had Bosnian coffee. and bosnian techno was something else. rooms were comfortable. lockers were outside the room, and were small, so only passports and other exxentials could be stored inside. recommended overall
family run, was very quiet when i was there, but didn't mind that one bit. Jasmin and family were lovely hosts. really welcoming. Had an excellent war tour as well which would throughly recommend. The owner is a war veteran, which gave the tour extra significance. location is very safe as its near some government buildings but you have to go up a hill to get there. also location isn't completely in centre but close to old town and a brewery!!
enjoyed my time here. was very relaxed. the owner in particular was very helpful and eager to assist as and when required. was free tea and turkish coffee, which staff soemtimes offered to make. wifi good, had minor blip with check out. staff member was a bit abrupt apparently because her shift finished shortly. great location too, just be prepared to walk up a few steps, as lift is small and has seen better days
really nice cosy place. staff were really helpful. particularly the Serbian chap (can't remember his name). The night i arrived the owner had just got married and was giving me plenty of Palinka to drink. So timing of my visit was good too! Free breakfast, another worker helped me to search to watch Premier League football extensively. cannot complain about anything, apart from the weather being rubbish (though that has nothing to do with the hostel itself)
As party hostels go this wasn't bad. Staff were friendly and felt like they were part of the travelling crowd. Went on a boat trip which was good particularly as you got a bottle of champagne as part of the deal.
Staff were really helpful. Even helped me get a red wine stain out of a tshirt. Mainly locals were at reception and knew authentic places to go out. Only gripe was balcony was used by staff for a smoke and occasionally the room smelt a bit afterwards. Overall recommend it!
Decent place free breakfast wifi only worked in reception. Staff were friendly. Couldn't use computer to get online which was strange. Having an xbox was something different to have in hostel. Breakfast was included
Ok place was gd to be near the station but immediate area is a little grimy. Had really good pasta wine and popcorn for €3 at the hostel and was a good way to meet people.
Really nice. Danish owner was friendly and helpful. Shower pipe was leaking a bit but issue was resolved without fuss. The resident dog was cool too. Great price aswell
plusses: walking tour guide was really good and helpful for any queries you have about where to go and what to do; lots of free stuff included in price like internet and breakfast. wifi worked in rooms and you get decent breakfast as part of the price. liked the social element to the hostel, which was good for me as a solo traveller negatives: place was a bit messy at times
Enjoyed my brief stay here. Receptionist I think was from Australia and was suited to his role
stayed here on 16th aug; was ok and would stay again
did the job; took me a few minutes to check in, and a couple of doorbell rings. staff member once she was there was nice and friendly. room was ok; 8 bed dorm, but you need to provide your own locker key. like the terrace area part. tea coffee and breakfast as part of the price always goes down well
Enjoyed time here overall though common room area felt more like a laptop party. Staff were friendly enough
Staff were really good but do not recommend this hostel for lone travellers as its basically a hotel that happens to have bunk bed dorm rooms
too big and too much like a hotel for my liking. staff were helpful though. found the room key continually didnt work, which was a bit annoying.
Been here before. Enjoyed it then and still do. Owner managed to fit me into a room for a further 2 nights in spite of the dorms being busy
Too pricey for my liking. Chap at reception was from near Barcelona and was really friendly and helpful which made up for the price a bit! Room was small but did the job. Place lacked character and were steep steps as you arrived. Is close to leidseplein which isn't bad
Not a bad place, didn't like the dorm room I stayed in. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. Got a free green tea as I checked in. Was a nice touch.
rooms were in a different building to the reception and bar area. was ok for a place and was a good selection of beers at the bar. free map provided on arrival which is always welcome and breakfast was included in the price. also like how the beds have a curtain, adding a little privacy to a 10 bed dorm.
Not having laundry on site was a bit annoying. Bit expensive for a hostel but got 1st beer for €1 on arrival, bathrooms were impeccably clean and got a discounted ticket for the Mercedes Benz museum, which was good.
staff were quite rude. not sure if this was because i was in Munich, where from my experience customer service isnt great! was a table tennis table or 2, which was a nice touch. was cheap to stay but you had to pay for pretty much everything. most evenings they had meals and food available for €5 maximum. liked the campfire in evenings as a good way to meet people. glad i experienced staying here but wouldnt stay here in the future
Was allocated a room and told to check for a free bed. There wasn't one. Had to wait a few minutes before 1 bed was made available and new sheets were provided. Got a free beer as a goodwill gesture from the staff, which was a nice touch. Hostel is a bit far away from the touristy areas but was overall an ok place to stay
had an en suite 4 bed dorm, with a tv. both were a luxury, given i was there for 1 night and there was no one else in the room until late in the evening. location wasnt great, had about a 30 min walk before i could reach the centre of Salzburg
Couldn't really fault it to be honest. Was close to westbahnhof do amenities were near. Free internet, things werent overpriced. Think I would have liked it more had I stayed longer hence the 'good' rating.
Got free drink on arrival. Hostel was 5 min walk away in separate building. Clean and tidy. Could use Internet but in a separate building. Overall good
Nice place. Felt at home. Recommended
Arguably the best hostel I have stayed in thus far. Cannot fault it. The workers there are part of the social clan and met some really nice people. Apparently they charge for linen but as I was there for 4 nights I didn't pay for it. Didn't want to leave.
Fantastic place. Will stay again if in Berlin. (Was here from 11-17 June 2013; this was an extension of that stay)
Absolutely love this place. The owner was really helpful. Chickens about. Close to the tram stop which runs 24 hours even though its a bit out of town. Loved the relaxed environment and would definitely come here again.
Walked in by pressing the doorbell and was greeted by a receptionist who 'asked me not to press the doorbell so much as she didn't like the sound of it'. A welcome would have been nice but wasn't to be. Found her rude and felt she didn't really want to be there. Room was reasonable size but had too many beds and reminded me of capsule hotels found in Japan. And 2 people the same evening had things stolen from their lockers. And the police were called. Bar at sister hostel was nice
enjoyed my stay earlier this month. was a pub crawl which was advertised but didnt happen due to a lack of people to do the crawl. that aside, the staff were all friendly, and all seemed to be having as good a time as the visitors. was noisy with the clubs literally outside the front door. so beware! breakfast was good, facilities were good.free tea and coffee is always a plus, as well as free internet.
found hostel to be a bit sterile and lacking in character. though was really clean and cheap to stay compared to other hostels in the area. reception were reasonably friendly. Found Cuban guy at hostel bar to be knowledgeable for bars to go to and such like. also the lockers were €2 for 24 hours, which is a bit steep for me. couldnt bring in own food, which meant having to buy food from the hostel cafe or eating elsewhere. close to main station just make sure you come out of the right exit.
staff were really helpful; was made to feel at home, even though i was moved rooms after my first night there. i arrived late, but the owner stayed up for any late arrivals. breakfast was bread and jam (basic) but you could get other things and eat in the kitchen aswell. lots of steps to get up in order to get to the hostel. found directions to hostel weren't great, look out for mr fit and adeka supermarket, hostel is just past there on 4th floor!
enjoyed stay in 4 bed mixed dorm. staff were helpful, but found some of the tours the hostel were advertising to be expensive. room was clean, though we had to be out of our room by 10am until 3pm for cleaning every day during our stay. went on pub crawl, which was basically free drinks at the bar then entry to 2 clubs. you have to pay for the metro to get there, which isnt part of the cost.

reception staff were really helpful; small hostel but common room gave a more homely feel, which i liked. also was good it didnt have a bar. breakfast included in the dorms cost. would happily stay at itaca again.
Hostel was good. Good location. For the price, a clean bed, though it wasnt prepared when i arrived, and a random dude was sleeping on my bed. Staff were friendly. €12 for a locker isnt too bad, esp as €10 is deposit. bar was relatively cheap aswell, just under €4 for a pint.
