Amazing place! The converted bathhouse is awesome and very unique. The owner was extremely kind and helpful. The location is beautiful and very peaceful, great place to relax a bit. Only 2 other guests when I was there, so quiet. It was very clean in the room & bathrooms. loved it thank you!

Good hostel in Leon! The staff are the highlight; extremely friendly and helpful at all times. The property is nice. The dorms were very spacious and had large fans per bed and lockers. Nothing too fancy but was nice to not to have a spacious dorms. From peeking in, private rooms looked nice. Bathrooms were so-so. As to be expected. Location is ideal; right near downtown and walkable from the bus station, as well as to the Las Penitas bus stop.

Great little hostel right in downtown San Juan del Sur. Was very clean and quiet (a couple blocks from the part of town with loud bars), and a great location to walk everywhere even at night. The best part is the staff - they are amazing!

Casa Seibel is cute, and the staff very welcoming. It has a laid-back vibe and is extremely convenient to downtown Xela. Highly secure which was nice (no entry without buzzing into the gate, even in the day). The bathroom sitaution was not ideal, but was livable. Be aware there is no hot water or heat (as with most hostels in Xela I believe).

Above average hostel, but nothing amazing. The location is great if you want to be in Colaba. The building is highly secure and the AC strong, dorm beds have lockers and sheets were clean. The bathroom in the ensuite was pretty gross. The upstairs area is nice-ish in the early morning, but gets very hot and unpleasant in the day.

15th Feb 2020

This is a great place to stay near the airport, and is not too far from Negombo downtown either. The family who owns it is so nice, and the traveler volunteer was quite helpful when I was there. The AC is strong, dorms quite clean, and it's very quiet. They have a nice table, desk and even TV area inside if you want to hang out. There are restaurants closeby (Double Roti is SO good), as well as an ATM and grocery within .5 miles. Perfect place to stay and rest/do laundry before my flight out.

Great hostel in Trinco! The owner is amazing, so friendly and helpful and makes you feel welcome. He helps cultivate a social atmosphere among the guests, and even set up a little desk area for me while I was working outside! Family dinner was great, and the outdoor showers and sink area is quite nice. Close to the beach and an easy bus or tuk tuk ride into town. Dorms are relatively basic, but have lockers, fans and were quite clean. Also the main door was locked at night which I appreciated.

Across the board, a good, decent hostel in PP. Everything was good, no complaints, not amazing or the best hostel but just plain normal. The location is great - you can walk to the airport, a grocery is across the street, and it's right near downtown and the market too. Staff was friendly, common area was pleasant enough, wi-fi was decent, lockers provided outside rooms, bathroom was average, free water, AC in rooms, beds comfy, quiet location. I think it's a great choice in PP!

Amazing hostel! One of the best I've been. Staff is absolutely amazing - so nice and helpful. The arrival welcome was a great surprise :) They help with tours, drivers, cheap motorbike rentals, and anything else. Facilities are outstanding -- huge dorm rooms, clean new beds and sheets and towels, HUGE lockers (biggest I've ever seen), great AC, large bathrooms very clean and have soaps to use. Outside is so relaxing -- nice pool, sunny areas to sit, beautiful buildings. Food prices decent, too!

Great hostel in Manila! I stayed for nearly 2 weeks. The staff is amazing, extremely helpful with any and all questions. Amazingly clean dorm rooms, so quiet (nearly silent). Some beds had windows which was cool! 2 lockers in the room, very secure overall (also doorman, and a card to get up elevator and into room). Free popcorn and water. Amazing wi-fi and tons of room to work and hang downstairs which is nice. Good location in Makati, very convenient. Bathrooms could be a little cleaner.

Good hostel in Jakarta! Walkable to many things, including the train station, and the staff was nice/helpful. Private room is AWESOME value for the money, with big bathroom and bed and sink! Everything was very clean. Free water upstairs and snacks, too. Nice "chill" room. Biggest issue was wi-fi is very very bad, so if you need to do work do not stay here. (the wi-fi in the mall next door was 10x better; I wound up sitting at a table there to use my computer).

Good hostel in BSB! Felt very safe, staff helpful, lockers for securing items, nice kitchen area and very fast wi-fi. The beds weren't the best (metal bars on back), but it was quiet and pretty clean and looked a lot better than most of the other options. A bit far from downtown but an easy bus ride (So cheap and right outside the stop) and also can walk downtown no problem. Recommend!

Great hostel in KK! SUPER clean, very well-maintained. Wi-fi is very fast, and the girl at the desk was so nice and helpful. Bathroom has hot water, was clean, and common areas nice (although small). Breakfast standard, bread and spreads and cereal and bananas, but available early which was nice. Free water a good perk! The only donwside was the location, a bit far away from the downtown sights and Jesselton pier (not THAT far, we walked everywhere, but the pier was at least 30 minutes).

Great hostel in Taipei! Very clean bathroom, with free supplies inside. Great common area, fast wi-fi, and delicious breakfast. Pods in rooms were clean and lockers secure. Decent hostel, above average. Pleasant common area, good free breakfast, board with ideas on what to do. Room was a bit cramped, bathroom not great, and also the wi-fi did not function at all was hard to even open web pages for entire stay (not acceptable, other hostel on this street had fast wi-fi). Staff very nice and helpful but also a bit too helpful always asking where we are going.

Don't understand the high ratings. Below average hostel, outrageous price for what it is. Bathrooms and showers disgusting (flooded, doors do not close). Whole place unclean. Was BLOOD smeared all over the tile floor for nearly 24 hours. In room, there was a huge bloody band-aid stuck to the floor -- AFTER THEY CLEANED still there. Bed so flimsy I thought it might fall over when I climbed up (I weigh 105). Loud. No free breakfast. Unsecured doors in not super-safe town. Locker didn't close.

Ridiculous price for what it is, but consistent with Singapore market for pods. Was clean (rooms and bathrooms both clean) but tiny as expected - no room for bags. The staff were a bit rude/incompetent overall, clearly didn't want to be working there and seemed inconvenienced. There were CHILDREN allowed to stay for some reason which was weird. Wonderful (Onderful) hostel in the heart of Siem Reap! Very large and social, but also very clean and quiet. They were cleaning constantly, rooms were nice and comfortable (aircon and free towels), the common area was pleasant and they have a pool. Food was reasonably priced and looked good (didn't try it). Staff very nice and helpful - overall very positive experience. Only thing is that bus/tour prices in hostel are way more than outside on street (more markup than normal).

Very happy with this hostel! Staff were SO nice at all times. The location was perfect - very convenient (we walked everywhere) and safe. Private double room was spacious and great value plus AC. The common area was nice to sit for a while although quite small. Not a great place to meet people if you want that. Only complaint is breakfast - they served cold, congealed eggs cooked hours ealrier which were vile and washed dishes in the bathroom sink as they had no kitchen.

Great hostel! The female dorm was very clean, warm, comfortable and quiet - we had a very pleasent stay here. Bathrooms also kept clean and had hot water. Large restaurant area was nice to relax in and hang out. Great location close to food street and metro - walked or easily took metro everywhere! Some staff were nice, others a little less nice, but they helped us with what we needed. The only negative was the wi-fi did not really work at all.

Hostel was ok, but rooms are very overpriced for what it is. Relatively clean with a great location on the beach. Surprisingly reasonable food and drink prices (and quality) given you have no other choices . Pretty sure the shower was using ocean water, and bed was dirty. No surfing lessons here but you can find it in 5 minute walking.

Best beach hostel I've been to in a long while, if not best ever ! Extremely clean and the facilities are in exceptional condition. Great location on the beach. Quiet and relaxing with hammocks on the deck and even hot showers. Secure with key to room in addition to standard lockers. Definitely recommend !!

We loved staying here ! The rooms are so cute and the deck with hammocks is an amazing place to relax. It was close to town but quiet, and the grounds are beautiful. Great breakfast with views of hummingbirds while you eat. Staff was amazing, really friendly and helpful - thank you.

Great hostel in Otavalo! Room was spacious, very clean, and wooden bedframes and local tapestries a great touch. Bathroom clean as well. Rooftop terrace with a view, free coffee and table to sit upstairs. Staff was standout - the man at the desk was very friendly and helpful and even called the bus station in Quito for us to reserve tickets on a bus we were worried might be full. Within easy walking distance of downtown and the market (less than 5 minutes). Good value for money, Recommend !

Awesome hostel, new which means great facilities in clean new condition ! Bathrooms and common area surprisingly clean for beach hostel. Great atmosphere and pool, free welcome drinks, towels, good value for private room, on site surf rentals. We extended our stay and stayed in Selina Banos too ! Be aware it's VERY loud at night -as are all hostels downtown on party streets. Music til 4am from clubs. Double room was pretty small/cramped with bags (but clean & secure so we didn't mind much).

Flying Dog Hostel Iquitos, Iquitos, Peru
7.7
3rd Jul 2018

Exactly what we expected the hostel to be. I think the best choice in Iquitos if you want to stay somewhere safe and with many other travelers. First room was by the road and VERY loud, second room was not and was much better. Rooms and bathrooms cleaned a lot, great breakfast (fresh eggs!), nice staff. Wifi doesn't work (but doesn't most places in Iquitos). Could use a repainting (walls dirty). Bugs but that's expected as you're in the jungle. Easy walk to plaza, Belen and everything.

Staff extremely nice and friendly. Gave us a free upgrade and towels. Unfortunately, when checking the mattress in our first room we saw clear evidence of bed bugs at some point- we asked to move. The new room was absolutely filthy, sheets covered in dirt, bed hard, several bugs in bed. The shower had no hot water and sprayed all over - bathroom & room floor flooded after 1 minute (we did not shower). Felt so gross we couldn't leave fast enough and showered/washed pjs immidiately at new hostel.

Amazing ! One of the best places we've stayed. Staff were absolutely the best - so friendly, helpful and kind and great to talk to. The room was clean, large, had hot water and was warm. Breakfast was the best on our trip so far (3 months in). Very secure and safe, very convenient close to main plaza in Ica. Don't let the lack of hosteleorld reviews deter you (we almost did); theyre just new on HW, check booking.com). I wish all our hostel stays were this positive and enjoyable -- thank you !!

The staff were excellent - super nice and helpful and showed me the best (less crowded) trails on the ruins ! Also woke up at 6am just to ensure I knew the way to the train. Location is good a few blocks off the main plaza, easy walk to the train station, ruins and everything. Room was clean, secure door lock. Average bathrooms. Felt a bit weird because it was very empty when I stayed and doors face the courtyard, but seemed consistent with layout of other ollanytambo hostels.

Great hostel, very good vibe inside, lots of common areas, friendly helpful staff. Secure front door and luggage storage. Pod bed was cool/private with chargers, light plus large locker. Bathrooms clean and there were some private 1-person ones not ensuite. Breakfast above average including eggs! Good location very close to everything downtown - recommend! Only compaint is tour desk inside hostel cancelled my tour but didn't tell me until 845 pm the night prior and were not apologetic.

Good hostel choice, no complaints. Outside area is very nice and enjoyable with hammocks, a pool and many tables. Good value for the money. Standard breakfast (bread and fruit). Lockers are at reception but seem secure. Also has secure outer gate. Walk to town in a few minutes. Only complaint was no hot water - not a problem usually as it's warm outside but it was quite cold during my stay .

Rooms and common area were freezing and damp (I slept in my jacket 1 night). Bathrooms were dirty and not cleaned at all during our 2-night stay. No hot water in showers (lukewarm at best); it was so freezing I just didn't shower while there. Towels not included as advertised on hostelworld (5bs) & charge to leave bag for the day (10bs). Weird vibe and overall a very unpleasent stay. Might be slightly better in the summer. Location downtown is great, staff is very friendly, breakfast decent.

One of the most aggressive party hostels I've ever been to. Legitimate club in the front, with daily parties until 3am. Room was spacious but cold and weird. The ensuite shower got the entire bathroom soaked (including toilet, trashcan) and smelled strongly of mold. The bar/restaurant/club was open to the public and no locks on the rooms so anyone could have entered. Wifi was strong only in the reception area. Breakfast was exceptionally good and staff very nice/helpful.

Great hostel in Uyuni, I'd venture to say it's the best option in town. Very clean throughout, with nice beds and lockers and bathrooms. Spacious common area was clean and comfortable with ample plugs plus good Internet. Had to leave before breakfast and they gave me bread and jam the night before which was unexpected. Only negative was the heat was not on in rooms and it was cold (they do have heaters). Not right downtown but a quick walk. Good place to recoup after salt flats tour.

Cool hostel choice in La Serena. Definitely had a party hostel vibe with drinking on the roof deck nightly (cool views). Beds more comfortable and warmer than expected, and was kept cleaner than most similar hostels. City maps were great and laundry service fast. Staff was wonderful, super helpful and fun and made all guests feel included. Secure outer door with bell felt safe. Seemed way less sketchy than other choices in town especially in off season. Awesome second location in valley, too!

Staff were amazing and helped me with questions, tours (even via email before arrival), & airport cab. Great location downtown, walkable to everything - 2 blocks to bus station, 1 block to market. Secure outer door, although no key to shared double room. I got a free room upgrade in off season. Very clean bathrooms & kitchen. Had homey / B&B feel. Breakfast set at night so you never miss it, even if up early! Not for those seeking lively party hostel; it's very quiet. Also they do your dishes!

Staff & service were excellent, sending information on tours in advance and assisting with bookings (even bus) with NO surcharge. Also let me switch rooms & were nice about it. Hostel was very warm in winter! Surprisingly quiet in rooms despite lively vibe in main area with fireplace, bbq, music. Social hostel but not overly crazy partying. Not right downtown but less than 10 minutes walk there. Bathroom in dorm was average. Overall ceaner than most hostels of its size and popularity.

Great hostel! Staff were very helpful and nice, and let me change rooms when I asked. They will assist with ALL bookings (including the bus out of town) with no surcharge which is convenient and hugely helpful! It has a welcoming environment, and the vibe was excellent. It was social and fun, yet not crazy and loud which is important if you're getting up early for a hike or tour. Very clean for a hostel of its popularity. Bathrooms average. Breakfast standard and includes good coffee.

Amazing location right on the beach! Some rooms have beach views (wake up to sunrise) and there's a great porch. Staff was constantly cleaning which was good since beach properties get dirty fast/easily. Laid back, social vibe. Staff was nice enough (there were a lot of them). Very new bikes for rent. Felt safe even in off season when town was empty. Got some bug bites in the room as it was open air. Ps: The bike ride to saint theresa park is NOT as easy as it is described...be warned.

This hostel was very nice and felt more like a hotel. Very clean rooms and common areas. Exceptional breakfast and good wifi. Board of activities daily. Vibe was not social however , so if you want that go elsewhere. Staff was ok, not the friendliest. Biggest issue is location - while old city is an attraction to see, it was quite sketchy and deserted at night and we, 2 girls, didn't feel safe walking back after dark (we ran). Online searches confirm the area can be unsafe.

Great location and atmosphere ! Very close to the beach and everything in Tamarindo and the hostel has an awesome surf vibe. It was great to hang out at night and even has a surf shop attached and offers lessons/rentals. Staff was friendly and helpful, too. one of the cooler hostels I've been to. Just be warned its quite loud in the rooms next to the bar- music was blaring until at least 1 am on the weekends . The bathrooms weren't super clean, but about what you'd expevt for a beach hostel.

Room was nice and clean, and we had our own shower which was an unexpected bonus. The location was great, right in the heart of the city off a main street with bars/restaurants (although VERY loud on the weekend)- could walk everywhere. The woman who owned the place was very nice and friendly. The initial impression was a little off-putting, as you enter through a small semi-dark hall and ring a bell, then go up a small staircase to pay through a slot in the reception room door.

Positives: The property was exceptional, especially for the money. The common areas downstairs were really nice and clean, and the style was cool. The rooms were nice as well, with clean beds and the furniture was new. Negatives: We had some issues with the staff being very rude and incompetent (they made a mistake with our room and it took hours to resolve). The location isn't ideal - it is quite far from the city center, and the walk gets old fast (especially when going out at night).
