Great staff, we had a slight problem with our room one night, but they handled it really well. They have great facilities, breakfast, bar, well thought out activities every night of the week.
HomePlanet has two buildings - they are quite far away from the city centre. There are trams which still run despite some pretty big road works in the area of town so it's easy enough to get around. But the location is not great if you are looking to be within walking distance of the town, shops and a big choice of restaurants or bars. The city centre is quite nice, while the area is very run down - and the hostel could have been cleaner. The staff did recommend a great restaurant - Zest.
Our stay at SixMiles was great and Peter was a fantastic host - he was happy to give some useful local tips and help out. The place is super clean, a 1 minute walk from the U-bahn, supermarket and some restaurants. Our room had plenty of space including a desk, super fast internet, shelving, small balcony, bathroom was spotless. We only stayed for a couple of nights so didn't cook, but there is a nice kitchen if you want. Not a loud, party type hostel - like staying at a nice apartment.
Not a hostel really, not quite a hotel. The staff are friendly, the building is huge though and there were groups of school kids staying while we were there. The big plus is the location - right on a cool street with a lot of shops, restaurants, etc and very easy to get to both U-bahn and S-bahn stations.

The Amsterdam Hotelboat is awesome. From our chat with the owners, it is not docked there full time - so you will have to time things well. you are staying on a boat, right next to a few Amsterdam landmarks and a fairly short walk to the city centre. Beds are bunk beds, so don't expect a king size bed, but there are good facilities.
Location is great, within walking distance of shops, Chapel St, cafes, transport, etc. We stayed while it was very hot - our room was very, very warm. The twin room had a bunk, a small desk and a desk fan - but was overall pretty cramped for space. The staff were helpful and very friendly.
We found the Green Mango pretty easily after re-checking their directions & looking at the picture they provide. The staff were kind enough to check us in at 7 AM - with our beds ready and kitchen to make some coffee. Also very helpful ordering us a taxi to leave which turned out to be cheaper than if we had booked it ourselves. Very clean, modern apartment, beds are comfortable. Needs another bathroom perhaps & there are quite a few Russian/ local guests - but over very comfortable.
Bob and all his sisters & mum are awesome hosts. We actually stayed twice, the place is clean, quiet and had a good mix of international travels. One guy recommended a good place for our stay on Lake Baikal. Also, even after just sending them a quick email 1 day earlier, they arranged to pick us up for free from the train station, and were there on time & waiting. Only thing to improve could be a more streamlined check-in (since there are big crowds from the trans-Mongolian)! Stay there!
