Really helpful staff given that I missed my train and book the room via the app at about 23:00. Just need better signs bit hard to find unless you have absolute faith in google maps.
Good location but musky and old in need of renovation. Good shower facilities though more would be nice.
Really quite pleasant a room, common areas are a bit small but nice enough, with good roof top and mid level terraces. Staff very friendly and helpful. Next to some great local restaurants further round the alley it's in
A nice chiled out hostel a stones throw away from monkey janes where you can party. Though typical family run operation sometimes it's hard to work out who is working there and who is visiting, Though one ninth we myself and other were subject to an attempt to usher us to bed by a man I'm still not sure that worked there or not as he was sleeping in my dorm. This was both annoying and frankly insulting as we were not drunk or loud and reception is 24 hours. Bit pricey for bookings
This is an amazing place, while XingPing is busier than you'd think it's still a very relaxed and nice place to vist stay a night or two. The staff here are utterly amazing in both the hostel and Cafe, English is perfect which makes up for my pathetic Cantonese. Rooms are a nice seize not huge but nice, though being wood can be very loud if you have uncurtious neighbours. Best pizza in China as they do thin crust in an huge pizza oven. Good atmosphere for meeting people.
Very much in the heart of the Rice terraces above Dazhai village with beautiful views and really nice rooms and a common area/ lounge/ dinning room. I've recommended this hostel to other travellers who wish to go to the terraces. Food is good but you are paying tourist prices so 20-40¥ a meal. But they serve Beerlao so that's ok in my book stay two days to enjoy terraces properly and bring a small bag or its longer than 40 mins to walk here
While the rooms are quite nice as is the veranda. what I can't not abide is a hostel deliberately trying to fleece you. I asked about the bamboo boat, didn't like their price so asked for information about the bus to the pier, suddenly the bamboo boats were cancelled by the government that day 15/7/13 and only the big ferries were running. This was a lie, barefaced. Two busses and the boat were only 175¥ 25¥ less than they charged. There were also at least two rats in reception at night.
It's a good hostel it's just in Nanning and there is not much in Nanning it's more of a transport hub.
While I feel my stay was coloured by my room mates the hostel is clean well maintained and in a good location for shopping and the night market. Several hostels across the world stipulate that passport holders of that country can't stay in that hostel, it did feel that there were a number of people living in the dorms and this led the social area to be quite intimidating for a lone traveler not speaking and Cantonese or Mandarin
A really good backpackers hostel offering all the essentials, western fod a good bar and tour booking opertunities. Obviously you have to do their Halong Bay castaway, even as a single traveler you won't regret it All the staff are really friendly and helpful- while I was on castaway they tried to sortout problems I was having with my Chinese visa It's location is great much closer to several key tourist sites than downtown. Cheaper options but this is The Origonal Hanoi Backpackers BUFFALO!
Not quite in the exact centre this hotel, offered great facilities at a great rate, the little enclave it e habits is close to both local and western food. The staff are freindly but pushy with bus tickets which are prices, but the bus was quite nice. Main point a dorm room in hue backpackers costs the same pp as a private room with ensuite, tv, mini fridge, wifi, zircon and a fan room, excellent value if no breakfast though. I'd recommend it.
A very warm and friendly environment in a cold part of Vietnam. A small family run hostel currently under going extension renovations. It's in the pod style but you won't spend much time in the dorm, wifi only works in the common area but you can organise so many things through the guys here you bound to find an adventure. I recommend their version of the easy rider. Also if the offer is made join them for the meals at local rut rants, BBQ and noodles are amazing. Really great place.
A really nice 2 building hostel one for the 6 rooms ones for the 8 works out well so not everyone is rushing to use the showers or toilets at the same time. The family are areallybaccomodating and helpful no matter what you need or ask. Nice beds that are turned down daily around 10:30/11 so get up. I enjoyed my stay welcome Hannah and iced tea was lovely too. I'd stay here again in HCMC
cheap and actually well places being neither in the city centre or far from it. Battambang is a sleepy town even for Cambodia the bar here can keep you watered and fed well into the night with a good group of Ex-pats. The quiz on Wednesdays is fun too. The dorm I stayed in was spacious though even with the fans, aircon upgrade would be nice. The cold showers arn't a massive issue for $2. The dog is harmless. Tuktuk tours ask at reception for Mr Chenda, DJ their driver is good too
Very much a flashpacker location if your not a budget you can really enjoy your time here, given how early a lot of Cambodia closes its stays open pretty late serves average priced beer but very good food at tourist prices. The bus tickets include pick up and are very fairly priced, as are the other tours they can sort with their Tuk Tuk guys, Wifi is sketchy. Khmer staff are amazing, few gaps in their English but their English is better than your Khmer so don't get frustrated.
Due to meeting people on the bus and Slow boat I did not stat here in the end. Though I am sure it is a great hostel it is outside the main centre by about 20 minutes and you can find a guest house easily if you don't book before arriving.
You wouldn't think this jungle theme hostel was sitting in the middle of Chiang Mai, a bit sleepy but staff are friendly and the free toast and tea/coffe is always welcome- the honesty system for bottled water, sifts drinks a beer is good too. The owners does 100/200 baht runs in his jeep to tiger kingdom for you and they can organise the cheapest slow boat to Luang Prabang that I could find though the free stop over is in the worst motel ever, but the trip was a great way to meet people.
New road guest house - I arrived early during the night (5am) due to my bus, when I arrived I'm told I am to early to check in despite emailing ahead 48 hours to tell them when I'd arrive- this email did not get a response. the staff that met me couldn't give a damn and in no way tried to help instead they watched YouTube, though I was offered a hammock in the common area until check in. First hostel i have ever stayed at where this has happened. The position of the hostel is poor, 20 minutes
This is a great hostel on an Island dominated by resorts. With nice spacey dorm rooms some with curtains for your bunk, and ensuite it's very well equipped. The open common area has a big TV and western and local channels great for the odd rainy day in paradise. Though its not close to the main chaweng beach, it's very close to a quiter beach bang rak, which does the same job. So nice local bars and good restaurants. The staff are incredibly helpful friendly and accommodating.
The wifi was temperamental, but when your on a tropical island who cares right? However there seemed to be a double standard as to what was needed when you checked out and the 1000 baht key deposit was ridiculous. The toilets when the bins went emptied absolutely stank and the showers didn't have hooks for your clothes or towels. No common room which is a shame, but a marginal discount was offered at the bar opposite. Yes it's cheap but there are other hostels for 250/ 300 Baht a night
Great hostel for meeting people and if your staying long enough to make real traveling friends you might even pick up a traveling partner or group here. It's a young hostel but it suits the jungle vibe. Your on a tropical island after all. Though its an industrialised island there are a few issues with facilities, mainly water preasure in the shiwers... just teething issues. STAY HERE ANYWAY
great hostel very convenient location and helpful staff. good facilities. Extremely comfortable beds and dorms very spacious. shame it used as a stop off between Bangkok and the Koh Islands- either way I'l be staying here again after my island hopping
A nice sleepy ostel on the edge between the historic core and upper Penang road. While it suffers from joy being in either and being somewhere been hotel and hostel it was good value for money, had a nice breakfast and pretty good wifi. It's location in regard to the blue mansion and the Red Garden food court made my few nights very convent for eating and site seeing. Laundry service is very good though it is out sourced.
Sunshine bedz is everything you want from a hostel. The beds are comfy, the larger dorms have both a local and international plug, PER BED. The staff are Friendly and helpful. it's a smaller hostel so you get personal service I.e. they greet you by name and mane a point of learning it. Where some hostels just don't even recognise you. You never wait for the shower or the Lou, aircon in every room. If this sounds like an advert it is. I booked 5 days stated 8, it's like having a family you won't
Jomi is a lovely environment to stay in, and the jomi's are very accommodating, though more back packers would be desirable but JB isn't a big backpacker city. If you are passing through you'll find it well priced compared to other sites on hostelworld, with a good location to the city and Larkin bus terminal.
The guest house is exactly that its a guest house, your provided with a lovely sized room and bed with a great wifi connection. A good shower and a balcony depending on your room. The care taker is a lovely girl and very understanding. The location is convinet, yes you will probably get taxis everywhere but they are very good too. The two main mosques to see and shopping centres are not further than 10MYR away
The staff are really friendly and very helpful. The location is spot on as your really close to a mrt (which will get you everywhere) and the great streets of pagoda and temple. It's also close to several key tourist attractions like the Hindi Sri Mariamman Temple, the Buddha tooth museum and Masjid (mosque) Jamae. Food is also very easy to come by and anything else you will need can either be provided by Wink. Or they will point you in the right direction.
While my bed was comfortable and the ammonites were good. The hostel was miss represented on hostelworld- I booked a ten bunk with ensuit, when I checked in I got a six bunk with no ensuit, the change wasnt explandedvor even adressed. This isn't a massive issue I still enjoyed my time there and its location is great and staff were very friendly.
Jackaroo is really good, from the nice smaller dorm sizes to it location on darlinghurst rd. nice roof top terrace, good tv room, dinning hall and free pool. Very late check out at 11am which is great. Free wifi and free pc use. Small kitchen however.
Nice hostel, good atmosphere very friendly. Heavily hooked resulted on not getting rom booked and then being turfed it of a upgraded room on our last day.
Usual base amenities. Nice bed, useful locker helpful staff and good location. Bed bugs on all furniture in tv room- though none found in room.
While the lack of a reception is confusing, and the initial stair well is ominous, once your upstairs and in your rooms all is forgotten I don't think I've ever stayed in such immaculate and well presented rooms, if only it had a kitchen and a cleaner common room it'd be excellent. If you popping to Newcastle for a look around I really recommend this hostel if you want clean and peace and quiet.
Staff were really helpful, good sized rooms, better wifi offers would be appreciated however
Just didn't enjoy my stay, very busy in the run up the GP last year. No aircon'd, poor wifi in rooms. Open windows because of the heat, humidity, this resulted in cold/hot unpleasant nights where you just couldn't get to sleep. Bar is a bit grotty but its good during the day. Much better stay in A'beckett nomads - both buildings are nomads despite this being labeled all nations
Got everything you need for a party in melbournes bustling backpacker come trendy suburb of St. kilda. Good bar good staff, though that depends on who is currently working there. Rooms are always clean with reliable cleaners though they may throw clothes out if left in odd situations. Nice ensuite though bunk beds are a bit low for tall people if you nab a bottom bunk.
Great bar, can be a little intimidating it's big and hotel like, but very well run and the recarpeting was handled professionals and efficiently, stay for a while get to know the people there if you move on you can always get a voucher for other Base Hostels.
Was ok typical motel accommodation, rooms were quite small, and cramped compared to other motel conversions I've stayed in
Excellent facilities, all rooms with lockers great offers for girls wanting to escape the mixed dorm scenario. Always clean and well presented dorms with ensuite and really good sized under bed lockers. Great bar with fun events from quizzes to bingo. Make sure to get some of the 5 dollar base pancakes.
Has a good bar and nicely sized 6 bed dorms, however the one I stayed in was drafts. The kitchen could also of been bigger. Main issue was when I booked at the desk for longer I was informed the rates went up for the weekend. They didn't they just went up so you can imagin my surprise and is may at this,
Due to the number of people clearly just living here it has a horrible vibe if your just passing through, nothing here really wants to make you stay unless you just want to get absolutely wasted and make noise until the early hours, your over a pub that plays music, can't hear that but you can hear your next dorms conversations. Insufficient facilities only two hobs in kitchen, and it's just rotten really if you want a drink and party sure, but if you want to get a decent job do not.

General hostel, not good not bad, though did end up in a 3 bed room after booking a 6 bed so not too bad considering three of us travelling
Bad wifi, but great food and location and excellent people
Wifi tempermental, but great food, great service, great location, after island hopping returned very good price via hostel word more expensive at the door
Good hostel, cheap bar location poor fur to heavy ghetto area. Poor value for money for what it was rooms and general noise pollution
Grea t facilities reasonably priced
Needed somewhere to stay, mas always a days in pn is a safe cheapish bet
Great place, great atmosphere, one issue the laundry is closed to guests until 2 each day for the cleaning of linin, but this is fair enough.
Enjoyed Miami stayed an extra night here, Good hostel, loud at night, but near the clubs so what do you expect, also right next to beach pretty much, bus stop outside for airport flyer and local busses, reliability varries...
South beach is about 2 blocks away from he beach, if that it's great location makes up for the sketchy/ non existent wifi in the room. It's location to the main clubs is also great though on a gap year budget you cant afford them, so expect it to be noisy durring the night especially weekends, which is annoying given how expensive it is. Top tip, great dive bar just around the corner called Ted's
Our room, had no bugs or other infestations main ssue was poor wifi in our block, pool also had slight mood. But this is the cheapest of the three days inn Orlando, an you very much get wat you paid for, cheap and cheerful staff were helpful and you can buy park tickets from the main desk. Good(ish) location for I-drive shops too.
Old pc's but free unlike some bigger hostels, great staff very friendly and laid back place great stay in D.C.
